A small but delicious sushi restaurant. We had two appetizers before the sushi, two sets of chef's choice nigiri (10 pieces each), and added three types of hosomaki. We also had two drinks each, and the total came to just over 14,000 yen. The food was delicious, but the portions were a bit small, so it might be more suitable for those who prefer quality over quantity, especially if you enjoy drinking. There was a regular customer at the counter who spoke loudly, adding a lively and cozy atmosphere to the place.

The tamago is fluffy and sweet, and overall, considering the price, it is quite delicious. Additionally, the buri-kama is a generous portion for around 1400 yen. The red miso soup is rich in flavor with a mountain of clams. The quality of the food, cost-effectiveness, and atmosphere make a strong impression. The chef's service is pleasant, and I would like to visit again. The restroom is small and not very calming.

Ordered a sashimi platter, grilled conger eel, and sliced raw fish. All delicious! Switched to hot sake and had a bottle of Nabeshima (Omachi, Junmai Ginjo). There are also posters for BOM or Isojiman. Nigiri sushi starts from 300 yen per piece, with options like sea urchin, salmon roe, shrimp, abalone, and boiled clams. Also ordered ark shell from the specials board. And squid. Delicious! Great value for the price! Impressed with the service. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Sushi restaurant Aki in Karasuma! It was my first post even though I have visited many times! It's about a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Karasuma Station! I forgot to write down the menu names, so I'll skip that ( ; ; ) The head chef is very funny and easy to talk to, making it a cozy place to dine! I recommend sitting at the counter because you can chat with the chef and everyone. The sushi was very fresh and the crab was delicious!! We went as a couple and were lucky to be able to make a same-day reservation. It seems like it's easier to make reservations these days. We ordered a sashimi platter, tsubugai with umeshio, tamago, kanpachi, anago, crab miso, squid, otoro, chutoro, torotaku, sea urchin, and salmon one by one, and finished with red miso soup. We also had a highball and a glass of sake each. All of this for less than ¥14,000 - a great deal!

The bluefin tuna sashimi was okay, not outstanding. The saikyo-zuke (miso-marinated) dish was good, especially the flounder. The yellowtail had a small size and less fat, but the sushi was affordable and satisfying. The atmosphere was lively with a friendly chef. Hidden gem in a back alley. This small shop, where the owner keeps a close eye on everything, is so popular that it's hard to get a reservation. The food is incredibly delicious and offers great value for money. The owner is a lot of fun. It's my favorite place. We order a variety of dishes like sashimi, grilled, and steamed, and finish with a chef's choice sushi platter of 10 pieces. We start with beer and then switch to sake. I remember when I first started dating my wife, I took her here and she was very happy. The owner is very friendly and has a good sense of distance. He looks a bit like a smaller version of Shin'nosuke Abe. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant, but I hope it doesn't get too popular and become impossible to get a reservation.

Many sushi restaurants in Kyoto are expensive, but this one is very reasonable and delicious. They put extra care into their dishes. They also offer a variety of grilled dishes, making it a great place to have a drink and unwind. Definitely a top recommendation for sushi restaurants in Kyoto.

I later switched to sparkling wine. Finally, I had a 10-piece chef's choice sushi set (1980 yen) before paying. I spent about 90 minutes alone and it came out to a little over 7000 yen. The chef was friendly and easy to talk to. I'd like to go back again.
