For some reason, I always crave chicken on Fridays. Today, I had a late lunch at a local spot called Torisanwa. Normally, I go for the oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) and 2 pieces of karaage (fried chicken) set, but today I was drawn to the chicken katsu (breaded chicken cutlet) bowl. The egg and dashi broth were the usual delicious quality at Sanwa. The chicken katsu was crispy and light, pairing well with the broth. The collagen soup and sweet pickled plum that came with it made the 1000 yen price tag a great deal.

The chicken soup was delicious♡ The oyakodon was also tasty, but personally, I prefer Nakau. It is located in the basement of Kyoto Station Isetan, so if I pass through Kyoto Station and crave oyakodon, I can easily grab a quick bite there.
I had a late breakfast and lunch combination at "Torimisawa" located in Isetan in JR Kyoto Station before having a drink at "Boku no Stand" in Shijo Omiya on Sunday, the 27th. The restaurant specializes in "Oyakodon" made with "Nagoya Cochin" chicken, but they also offer a seasonal limited edition dish called "Tsukimi Torisoboro Don" which I decided to try. The dish consisted of a bowl of rice topped with chicken mince and egg yolk, served with chicken soup. The taste of the dish was a bit on the sweet side, but it was balanced out by the addition of sansho pepper. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, especially after adding some chili pepper for an extra kick. The chicken soup was flavorful with minced chicken meatballs and chicken fat floating on the surface. The total cost was 1,023 yen, but I only paid 23 yen after using a Kyoto support coupon, which made me feel like I got a good deal. Overall, the meal was slightly on the sweet side, but it was satisfying and worth trying.

On Sunday, no waiting customers. Full at 6:00 pm visit, seated, food arrived, left the store. Located on B2F of Isetan directly connected to Kyoto Station.
- Chicken cutlet rice bowl and fried chicken set for ¥1243. The fluffy and creamy egg is a distinctive feature. The cutlet is relatively moist, but the meat itself is fatty, so it has a good texture. Personally, I was surprised by how well the sweet honey-pickled plum goes with the egg.

I had been wanting to visit this place in the basement of Isetan for a while, but it's often quite full when I try to go... On this day, I got lucky and managed to find a seat. I chose the Oyakodon with Nagoya Cochin or fragrant Misu chicken for an extra 200 yen. I wondered if it would be worth it, and I must say, the Nagoya Cochin chicken was indeed delicious. The Oyakodon made with it was really tasty! The collagen soup was also delicious, but I'm not a fan of plums. I tried them, though!

It's a small restaurant with only 5 counter seats, but the turnover is fast, so you can eat quickly, which is great! The Nagoya Cochin parent and child bowl was delicious with a fluffy and tender texture! It was rare to have Nankoume plums as a side dish. It goes well with the parent and child bowl and serves as a nice accent for a chopstick rest! Check out the details here ☟ Having parent and child bowl lunch at Kyoto Station Isetan! I had lunch at the counter of Torisawa in the basement of JR Kyoto Isetan. I ordered the grilled chicken and egg bowl for 970 yen. The juicy and tender grilled chicken thigh meat has a delicious flavor that spreads in your mouth. It comes with Nagoya Cochin collagen soup and for some reason, a honey pickled plum from Kishu, all for less than 1000 yen, so it's highly recommended! My wife ordered the chicken cutlet bowl for 968 yen. I tried a bite of the cutlet and it was tender and delicious. The egg and cutlet were skillfully and carefully prepared. It's a great deal.

Today, I had a quick lunch at JR Kyoto Isetan and decided to dine at "Torisanwa" located in the food section on the second basement floor. I entered through the curtain and sat at the counter seat. The main menu was a set of oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) and chicken karaage. You can choose between Nagoya Cochin chicken with a firm texture or soft Nagomi chicken for the oyakodon. I ordered the "Nagoya Cochin oyakodon" on its own. The oyakodon served in a shallow bowl looked beautiful with its vibrant yellow color. The creamy egg looked like it would melt in your mouth. The slightly chewy texture of the Nagoya Cochin chicken added depth to the flavor. The soup that came with it was a chicken broth with two meatballs, seasoned lightly with salt. It was simple but delicious. It was a fast-food style lunch, but I was satisfied with the tasty oyakodon.

I returned to Tokyo from Kyoto, but the Kyoto station is like the real deal! I purchased some Nagoya Cochin yakitori at the Isetan store in Kyoto station. I had the salted thigh meat and the shiso-wrapped chicken tenderloin, which were both light and delicious. My wife, who is only concerned with appearances, bought liver because she's a bit anemic. I didn't have any of the four pieces of fried chicken. The Nagoya Cochin yakitori had a good chew and was delicious!

I came to an art exhibition but finished early so I came here. It gets crowded if you come late, right? There are 6 seats at the counter. I ordered the Nagoya Cochin parent and child bowl. It costs 1078 yen. It comes with chicken meatballs in chicken soup and a soft, desalted pickled plum. Well, it's delicious.

The Nagoya Cochin parent and child bowl at Sanwa is surprisingly delicious to eat at the store rather than going to the restaurant. I ordered it for the first time in a while. I love parent and child bowls, so it's great. It's interesting to eat in a department store. It's an eat-in at a dedicated chicken shop. It's quite nice.

This time I visited during lunch. Among ramen, sushi, curry, this restaurant was selling oyakodon and karaage. They used Nagoya Cochin, one of Japan's top three chicken breeds. The oyakodon had a creamy egg topping and plenty of flavorful chicken meat, which paired perfectly with the sauce. The chicken broth that came with it was also rich and delicious. The karaage came in three flavors: soy sauce, salt, and garlic. When you go shopping, be sure to try this oyakodon, it's really delicious.

"Located on the 2nd floor of JR Kyoto Isetan, there is a small counter-only shop called 'Torimisawa'. Known for Nagoya Cochin, the king of local chickens, Torimisawa offers dishes with a unique aroma and a rich flavor. I tried the Nagoya Cochin Oyakodon (1078 yen) which had a beautiful presentation with a richly colored egg yolk. The Nagoya Cochin had a firm and chewy texture, with a delicious umami flavor. The collagen soup with chicken meatballs was also tasty. The Kishu honey plum was not too sour and had a refreshing aftertaste. It's a great experience to enjoy a delicious Oyakodon while shopping."

It was delicious! The cost performance is good! I came here on a business trip, and the portion is large and rich, so I think men will be satisfied. Since the portion is a bit large, women may want to ask for a smaller amount of rice. The meatballs are also very delicious!

■Visit Date: December 27, 2019
■Items Received: Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) and salted fried chicken set
I visited the restaurant on December 27, 2019. It is located on the 2nd basement floor of JR Kyoto Isetan. The restaurant has only 6 counter seats and operates on a pre-payment system to manage crowds. You can enjoy a delicious Oyakodon made with Nagoya Cochin chicken. This time, I had the Oyakodon and salted fried chicken set. It comes with chicken meatball soup and pickled plum. The Oyakodon, with its chewy Nagoya Cochin chicken, juicy meat, and rich flavor, was excellent. The soft-cooked egg was also outstanding. The chicken meatball soup was so delicious that I wanted to have seconds. I was able to enjoy freshly made hot Oyakodon and fried chicken. It was a place where you can enjoy delicious Oyakodon in the basement of Isetan.

I had some errands to run near Kyoto Station, so I quickly stopped by Isetan B2F to have the Nagoya Cochin Oyakodon at Torisanwa for lunch. The chicken here is incredibly delicious, with finely chopped, easy-to-eat chicken meat that has a firm texture. The dashi broth is delicious, making the creamy egg topping irresistible. The rice and soup were also very satisfying. The Tsukune with Nagoya Cochin comes with a collagen soup that is absolutely delicious! It feels like it will make your skin smooth and supple.

I entered this restaurant located on the basement 2 floor of Kyoto Isetan. It is a counter seat restaurant with a pre-payment system. The menu is divided into two main options: Oyakodon (chicken and egg rice bowl) or Chicken Katsu (breaded chicken cutlet) bowl. For Oyakodon, you can choose between Nagoya Cochin chicken or Koshu Misuji chicken. Then, you can select additional toppings to go with your main dish. I ordered the Nagoya Cochin Oyakodon with a side of chicken wings. Every menu comes with a side of meatball soup and pickled plum. The pickled plum was unexpectedly refreshing. The Oyakodon was incredibly delicious! I underestimated the quality of food in the department store basement... haha. The chicken wings were also tasty with a sweet and savory flavor. By the way, they also offer takeout options.

I went to this restaurant around noon today. I arrived in Kyoto just before 1 pm and had to move to make it to a meeting at 3 pm... I didn't have much time, so I decided to take a chance and try this place in the area. This place was the top candidate for having delicious oyakodon. I arrived near the restaurant around 1 pm. There were some empty seats at the counter... Since I was with a colleague, we decided to line up for seats next to each other. One seat was empty, and the person next to it seemed like they were almost done eating... As expected, they got up in a few minutes. Probably because they felt pressured with us waiting in line... Once we were seated, we quickly placed our orders. I ordered the "Nagoya Cochin Oyakodon, large size." The large size fee was included in the service, totaling 1059 yen including tax. My colleague ordered the same "Nagoya Cochin Oyakodon with soy sauce koji fried chicken set." It was ready in about 6-7 minutes. When it was placed in front of me, even though it was a large size, it seemed slightly more than my colleague's regular size... The egg topping looked really delicious. There was a decent amount of meat too. As I started eating, the broth was really good... the egg topping was incredibly tasty! The meat, cut into small, easy-to-eat pieces, was well-flavored, perhaps due to the good broth. There was quite a bit of broth, which soaked into the rice. It was a bit difficult to eat with chopsticks. I ended up using a spoon halfway through. It was a bit tricky to eat with chopsticks... After a bit of a rush, I finished eating, but the satisfaction of having eaten something delicious is truly special.

During a regular lunchtime, I decided to have lunch before shopping. I ordered the "Herb-flavored Mizumidori Chicken Oyakodon" for the first time, which costs 843 yen. While I was playing with my smartphone, the dish arrived. The visual reminded me of Nagoya Cochin Oyakodon. When I tasted it, I found that chicken has a lighter fat content compared to beef, and I prefer chicken with a strong sweetness and umami flavor. Additionally, the soup included a plum with honey and Nagoya Cochin meatballs. The restaurant was relatively empty on weekdays, making it easy and convenient to dine.
