・Located in Rakuo-in, a station on the Randen line in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. This station is quietly nestled in a residential area and is not a common stop for many, making it a fresh and unique place to explore. While it may seem like a traditional Japanese sweets shop, Rakuo-in offers a wide variety of both Japanese and Western-style sweets, including moist and not overly sweet madeleines and brandy-soaked cakes. The brandy cakes were quite saturated from being carried around for a while, but the cake itself was easy to eat, with a deliciously soaked center. The lemon cake, coated generously with lemon, was light and refreshing. Priced around 150-200 yen each, these sweets make for great gifts or everyday treats if you're in the area.

It's convenient to have roll cakes on hand for unexpected guests or as a quick and affordable gift. The cakes are delicious and come pre-sliced and packaged, making them easy to serve.

I bought a brandy cake because I wanted to try it! I also got a Mont Blanc that caught my eye. The brandy cake wasn't too strong on the brandy flavor, so it was easy to eat. Even those who don't like brandy cakes too much might enjoy it. It's delicious! The price was 170 yen. The Mont Blanc was decent. But the best part is the low price! It was only 280 yen. Most cakes were in the 200 yen range. These prices are quite cheap nowadays. It's great for when you want something sweet without spending too much. However, the cakes came in a bag, maybe because I bought two. Also, there was no date sticker. I wondered about the quality control. Maybe if you buy a lot, they'll be more careful. The cakes had a nostalgic look, like traditional cake shops.

I received a brandy cake from a nearby pastry shop near my home, and I was surprised after taking a bite. It was a delicious taste that I had never experienced before. I tried to search online for more information about the shop, but there were very few clues. So, I decided to look up the address and visit the shop. It turned out to be a small shop located in front of Kao-in Station, two stops before Arashiyama on the Keifuku Electric Railroad (Randen) in Kyoto. The shop had a sign that read "Japanese and Western confectionery," and not only did they sell Western confectionery, but also Japanese confectionery. I was skeptical that such a delicious brandy cake could be sold at this shop. The price was surprisingly affordable at 1,050 yen. They wrapped the cake in Japanese confectionery wrapping paper since they had run out of the Western confectionery one, but the wrapping paper didn't matter to me. The important thing was the incredibly delicious brandy cake. It's a rare find, and I highly recommend it to those visiting Saga and Arashiyama in Kyoto.
