I came to Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture for business. The drive from the Second Keihan Road to the Kyoto-Joyo Bypass Uji Higashi was smooth and comfortable, but once I started heading south on Prefectural Route 69, it got really crowded. My junior colleague suggested, "How about having lunch around here?" It was a good timing, so we decided to stop at a ramen restaurant called "Daiichi Asahi Makishima Store" that I love. However, to my surprise, there was a traffic jam waiting for parking! We ended up parking at a nearby restaurant called "Washo Ururu". We checked out the situation at Daiichi Asahi and decided to give up because it was too crowded. When we looked at the menu outside "Ururu", it seemed to focus on udon and rice bowl dishes. We decided to go in and found the interior to be very clean and well-maintained. The menu had a variety of noodle and rice bowl options, making it a tough decision. I finally chose the "Ururu set meal" for 1,100 yen (tax included), which is the most popular menu item named after the restaurant. It came with freshly fried tempura, udon noodles, mixed rice, and side dishes. The broth of the udon was delicious, and the mixed rice and tempura were also good. The service was friendly and excellent. It was a very satisfying lunch. My colleague ordered the "Shrimp Tempura Rice Bowl and Kitsune Udon Set" for 1,000 yen (tax included) and was also impressed by the delicious broth. "Washo Ururu" was a lucky find in Uji City, and I will definitely come back next year. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I tried the "Ururu Teishoku" for 1,100 yen at this restaurant for the first time. It included freshly fried tempura, kake udon, mixed rice with vegetables, a small side dish, and salad. I ordered it because it was labeled as the "most popular dish" at the restaurant. To keep it short, the udon, mixed rice, and small side dish (which was made of okara) didn't suit my taste. However, I managed to fill my stomach, so I'll leave it at that. I won't be visiting this place again. Thank you for the meal.

I passed by Udon restaurant UruUru in Makishima, Uji City, and decided to give it a try. It was 11:30 on a Sunday and the place was packed. It's quite popular. I ordered the Sunday special set which includes Kitsune Udon and Tempura Donburi in a cold style. However, be prepared to wait. If you're in a hurry, this might not be the best choice. Make sure to go with some extra time on your hands.

There are plenty of places to eat around here. I felt like having udon and chose this restaurant! The shop is bright and clean, with many customers. I ordered a seafood tempura rice bowl and zaru soba. The prices are okay... The zaru soba came in a small two-tiered basket and the taste was a bit weak, leaving me a little unsatisfied. The tempura rice bowl was filled with ingredients and tasted delicious, but the rice portion was large, so it's quite filling! The portions are generous but the prices are a bit high, so I think it would be better to reduce the amount and lower the price a bit...

I visited this place because I was craving udon noodles. The restaurant is located along a prefectural road, and I was surprised to see that the parking lot was almost full, about 80% occupied. The interior of the restaurant is clean and the counter offers a somewhat open feeling as you can see the parking lot. I ordered the kitsune udon for 650 yen. Most of the menu items are set meals priced at around 950 yen. Is it a good deal? After about 10 minutes, the udon arrived. The fried tofu wasn't too sweet, more modern. The broth was decent but nothing special. I felt a sour aftertaste and a roughness on my tongue. Maybe it's the seasoning? This restaurant seems to be more about easy parking and enjoying a set meal with friends rather than focusing on the udon itself.

The fried horse mackerel set meal was missing from the photo, but it also came with udon noodles. It was very filling and satisfying.

I had parent and child bowl and Japanese-style ramen. The broth was delicious, and even though it was 2:00 pm, there were customers coming in one after another, indicating that it is a popular restaurant.

I ordered the meat curry udon set. I had to wait for about 40 minutes from ordering to being served at the udon restaurant. It was the longest wait of my life. The curry udon was delicious as usual.

The curry udon is excellent! The ankake udon is a bit too salty, but still very tasty.

On April 9, 2018, around 12:30 PM, I went to a local udon restaurant called "Washo Ururu" near my workplace for lunch. It was my first visit since they moved from their previous location about ten years ago. The restaurant has a local atmosphere and seems to have a strong following, as it has managed to survive despite the opening of a Marugame Seimen nearby. When I arrived at 12:30, the parking lot was almost full, but I managed to find a spot as a car was leaving. There was a lunch menu board at the entrance. Inside, there was a counter on the right side and table seating on the left. Since I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter. The interior of the restaurant had a calming Japanese-style design with a combination of wood and white, giving it a clean and pleasant feel. I ordered the "Katsudon set" from the lunch menu, which included a katsudon (pork cutlet rice bowl) and a haikara udon (plain udon with toppings). The food was served in about 13 minutes. The haikara udon was simple, with tempura crumbs, green onions, and fish cake. The broth had a nice aroma of bonito and a strong sweet flavor. The udon noodles were thick and had a good texture. The katsudon was well-seasoned with a strong soy sauce flavor. The pork cutlet was around 120-130g, flavorful, and crispy. The rice was slightly soft. The portion size of the set was generous, almost too much for me, but I felt satisfied after finishing the meal. It was a delicious meal.

Various types of rice bowls and udon or soba combinations are available for lunch. The restaurant has a somewhat cheap appearance, but it is quite busy during lunchtime. The taste is neither good nor bad, just average. The cost performance is not as good as expected, just okay.

I wanted to have a quick dinner, so I went into this restaurant. The menu looked reasonably priced and quite generous. I decided to try their recommended "Ururu set meal", which includes cold udon noodles (you can also choose soba or hot noodles), a small side dish, mixed rice with vegetables, and assorted tempura. The side dish seemed to be pre-made, but the tempura was crispy and freshly fried. The udon noodles may have been frozen, but I don't mind. The dipping sauce was just okay for me. I felt like it was a bit lacking in something, but the person with me said it was delicious, so I guess it's just a matter of personal preference. Overall, if you're looking for a casual dining spot, this place is not bad.

I used to visit this restaurant often before it moved, but this was my first visit since the relocation. I went with my wife this time. We arrived just before noon and found plenty of parking spaces available. We were seated promptly without having to wait. The restaurant used to have tables on the first floor and tatami rooms on the second floor, but now both are available on the first floor, making the interior feel spacious. The menu was mostly the same as before, but the pork cutlet set that I used to enjoy was no longer on the menu. This time, we ordered the recommended "Ururu set meal," which includes tempura, choice of udon or soba (hot or cold), mixed rice, side dishes, pickles, and salad. I chose hot soba, while my wife chose hot udon. The set meal arrived in less than 10 minutes. The soba broth was not the light Kansai style but had a rich flavor. The mixed rice with burdock was appetizing. With the variety of items included, we were quite full. The price was 1,020 yen, which was well worth it. In addition to set meals, they also offer individual dishes. They have small chairs for young children, making it a family-friendly restaurant.

I happened to be driving in the area just before lunchtime, so I decided to stop by this place. It had been relocated and the sign for udon had been removed, now it was called "Washo." Upon entering, I saw that the left side had long communal tables made of a single board, where you eat facing the wall, and the right side had regular table seating. As a solo diner, I sat on the left side. A friendly server brought me a cold tea and the menu, explaining the daily specials. I ordered the cheapest set meal, the "Mixed Rice Set" for 640 yen, and chose hot soba. As I listened to the background music of a koto and strings playing, the food arrived. The mixed rice had simple ingredients like carrots, fried tofu, and burdock, cut into small pieces with no special flavors. The soba had a clear broth and used more Soba noodles, with toppings of fish cake, tempura crumbs, and green onions. Unfortunately, the noodles were overcooked and mushy, and the broth lacked flavor. The side dishes included simmered burdock and silk pods, with subtle flavors. The pickles were haphazardly served in a jar. The overall portion was small, and the high table position and imposing wall made it difficult to enjoy the meal. The attraction seemed to be the low prices offered at this place.
