Before boarding the Shinkansen, I stopped by a station to grab a bite to eat. The station was crowded with tourists and there were many shops with lines, so I decided to go into a less crowded one. It was a standard Japanese-style Western restaurant, offering dishes like curry, omurice, and fried set meals, which were all delicious. Considering the location, I think the cost performance was decent.

I visited around 19:30 on a regular day. There were two tables occupied when I arrived. There was a group that seemed drunk and were speaking loudly. I ordered the C set for 1180 yen, which included handmade hamburger, shrimp fry, homemade cream croquette, soup, salad, and rice.

First, when I entered the restaurant, there was no one there... and even after I sat down, no one came to take my order... I had to call out for someone to finally come out. Two part-time girls were chatting in the back as they quickly took my order. The person who came in after me also had to wait for a while before someone came out. I ordered the C lunch, but they said they didn't have it, so I went with the meat lunch. The beef was surprisingly tough! I had to chew it forever, it was like chewing on rubber. I now understand why this restaurant in a busy station building has so few customers. It's just disappointing...

I am visiting curry restaurants around Kyoto Station, and today I am at "Yu" on Miyakomichi. I ordered the classic beef curry, which has a European style. The beef was cooked slowly until tender, making it a normal curry. Surprisingly, the coffee served after the meal was rich in aroma and well brewed, a small surprise. The restaurant is small, but the tables are spacious and it is a relaxing place to dine.

Located a few doors down from the fountain on Miyakomichi at Kyoto Station, this place seems to offer a combination of dining and cafe experience. The menu includes curry, pasta, pizza, Western set meals, and sweets. You can order the A set for 980 yen, which includes fried white fish, shrimp, hamburger, cabbage and potatoes, rice, and soup (pumpkin?). The set had a generous amount of dishes. They also offer a light drinking set, so you can enjoy a casual drink in the evening as well.

I visited around 12:30 on a weekday in search of a place to eat near the Kintetsu station in Miyakomichi. It was difficult to find a place to eat quickly during lunchtime in the tourist city of Kyoto, but this restaurant seemed empty. There was only one other customer inside and a businessman-looking person walked in, so I decided to enter as well. I ordered the Chicken Saute Set for 800 yen. While waiting for the food to come out, the interior of the restaurant felt a bit uncomfortable with its plain white walls. I thought they should put up some menus or posters to make it more inviting. The Chicken Saute that came out was just average in taste, but the portion size was a bit small with only two pieces. The accompanying soup was rich but the cup was unusually large, so it only had about a third of the actual content. Despite the polite service from the staff, there were many areas that could be improved in this restaurant. It made sense why it was empty during lunchtime.

The "Miyakomichi" at Kyoto Station, where I have walked many times, is a hidden gem of a shop that I never noticed before. Of course, I had to order the omurice! The fluffy and creamy texture of the egg is great, but the demi-glace sauce is a bit lacking and the rice texture is average. It doesn't have any standout features, but it's still delicious.

Located directly below Kintetsu Kyoto Station is Yu, which used to be known as the Kintetsu Meiten-gai gourmet floor. It has now been renamed Miyakomichi. Within Miyakomichi is Yu, which always seems to be empty for some reason (laughs). While neighboring shops are always crowded, Yu is always quiet (laughs). I had been curious about it for a while, and finally decided to visit today. The tipsy set looked appealing, but I opted for a simple beer instead. Of course, I asked beforehand if it was okay to just order a beer. Even though I only ordered a beer, there were no issues with the atmosphere. If anything, the staff were quite friendly (laughs). I'll try the set next time. Definitely worth a return visit.

Around 4:00 pm on November 23rd, I missed lunch in Shijo and ended up going to Kyoto Station nearby. It was my first time (or maybe not?) entering this restaurant, which caught my attention with its cheap set meals and complete lack of popularity. I was tired of the crowds in Shijo and Kyoto Station, so the emptiness of this place actually drew me in. There was only one other customer there, probably someone from a nearby store, busy organizing receipts with a calculator in hand. The food was average, like a typical Western-style set meal. It felt like one of those shops from the old Kintetsu Department Store arcade that now feels out of place in the touristy "Miyako Michi." It might be hard to understand, but I felt that it was better than going to an overpriced and crowded restaurant. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

During lunchtime at Kyoto Station, I was in a rush but hungry. I managed to find a Western-style restaurant in the shopping street "Miyako-michi" near the west exit of Kyoto Station. The restaurant had a modern atmosphere with a traditional townhouse feel. I ordered the "A lunch set (850 yen)" which included a fried hamburger steak. The corn potage soup arrived quickly, and soon after, the main dish was served. The set included fried white fish, deep-fried shrimp, simmered hamburger steak, ham, salad, and rice. The dishes were accompanied by tartar sauce for the fried items and a demi-glace-like sauce for the hamburger steak. The meal was satisfying and suited the price point. I quickly finished my meal and headed to my next destination.

I wish I had checked Tabelog before deciding to eat here. I used it for dinner. The restaurant was very empty, with some people dining alone. I opted for the lunch menu, which was affordable and available for dinner as well. I ordered the A lunch set, which included soup, rice, salad, hamburger, shrimp fry, and fried white fish on a plate. First, the soup arrived. It tasted like instant soup made from powder, with croutons and parsley floating on top. The taste and texture were similar to store-bought soup. When the plate arrived about 5 minutes later, I had a bad feeling. The presentation was nice, but I was surprised at how quickly it was served. The rice was dry and lacked shine. The hamburger was small and oddly shaped, with visible chunks of meat and a lack of cohesion. It disappeared after just a few bites. It seemed like a stewed hamburger, maybe overcooked and lacking in juices. The sauce was a bit heavy. The shrimp fry was the type with the belly side split open, but the meat was thin and tough, making it hard to cut. It was unrecognizable as shrimp fry. The tartar sauce on the fish and shrimp was tasty, lacking the sharp vinegar taste found in store-bought versions. The fish fry was average. I found it tiring to eat. It didn't suit my taste.

After work, when I was feeling a bit hungry, I came across a menu offering a light drinking set for 980 yen and couldn't resist entering the restaurant alone. The place is located in Miyakomichi, the underground shopping area below Kintetsu Kyoto Station. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in white tones, with an atmosphere that would appeal to young women. It's not very spacious, with only about 8 tables for seating. I visited on a Monday around 7 pm, so the restaurant was not crowded. It's a Western-style restaurant, and even at night, the lunch sets are recommended for their reasonable prices. I, of course, ordered the light drinking set. I could choose a small dish, a main dish, and a drink, so I chose chilled tofu, assorted fried skewers, and a draft beer. The taste was average, but I was satisfied with the reasonable prices. Next time, I plan to try their lunch menu.

I decided to have lunch at a restaurant on Miyakomichi street and when I went downstairs and wandered around, I entered this relatively empty restaurant. The interior is small. I ordered the "Omelette Rice and Mini Gratin (980 yen)" that was displayed on the window outside. It came with a salad. The omelette rice looked great with demi-glace sauce and creamy eggs, but when I tasted it, it was neither good nor bad. The mini gratin had shrimp and spinach in it. I noticed a slight smell that bothered me. I couldn't quite identify the smell, but it was a bit fishy. The restaurant was not busy, but the staff were attentive and quick to refill my water.

It was lunchtime at Kyoto Station, and with a tight schedule ahead, I was looking for a restaurant on Miyako-michi. I found a cheap Western-style lunch spot and decided to give it a try. The place was understaffed, with only one person serving, and despite it being a weekday, there was a constant flow of customers coming in, making the service a bit slow. I waited for almost 10 minutes before being seated (even though there were empty tables available). I ordered the A lunch set for 850 yen, which included a hamburger and shrimp fry, as I had seen on the menu outside.
After waiting for 5 minutes, water was served, followed by corn potage soup after another 10 minutes. The soup tasted average, nothing special. Then, after 5 more minutes, my main dish finally arrived. The portions were quite small, smaller than what was displayed on the menu outside. The shrimp was tiny, which was disappointing for a shrimp lover like me. The fried white fish and hamburger were also on the smaller side, but at least the ham slice that came with it was of a normal size. A small serving of cabbage salad was also included. The taste was average, nothing outstanding, just okay. I had expected a good deal for the price, but it turned out to be a bit underwhelming. It took too long for a simple meal, and while the taste was not bad, it was not exceptional either.

I went to have lunch. From the appearance of the restaurant, I thought it was a Western-style restaurant or a cafe. I only found out that it was also an izakaya by looking at the restaurant name on Tabelog. The display of shochu bottles among the dishes made sense now. However, it was quite strange to see ordinary Western-style dishes and empty shochu bottles lined up together. Anyway, for lunch, there were fried dishes, hamburgers, and assorted set meals on the menu. I decided to try the pumpkin set, which was a seasonal limited menu. It included pumpkin soup, pumpkin croquette, and fried pumpkin slices. As I started eating, I realized that the menu was full of carbohydrates. Moreover, the side dish was potato salad. There were a few mushrooms and cucumbers, but just a tiny amount. The taste was good and the portion was moderate, but the problem came at night. Strangely, it stayed in my stomach and I couldn't eat dinner. It wasn't because of bad oil causing indigestion, so it was really mysterious. People who are not used to eating fried food regularly should be careful.

A Western-style restaurant located in the dining area 'Miyako Michi' at Kyoto Station. The entrance had menus and food samples displayed, and the Western-style plate looked delicious, so I decided to go in. The entrance had a nice atmosphere, but despite it being dinner time, there was only one other customer and the restaurant was quiet. The place wasn't very big. I ordered the 'Special Lunch' (1250 yen), which came with a plate of hamburger, chicken, and shrimp fry, along with rice and corn potage. The corn potage that came first was not very good. When the main plate arrived, each item looked small and the presentation was not impressive. The taste was not very good, it seemed to be an issue with the seasoning rather than the ingredients. The staff were friendly, but my stomach and heart were not satisfied.

I met an acquaintance in Kyoto after a long time, and after we finished our business, we decided to have a light drink at Miyako Michi near the Kyoto Station Hachijo-guchi Kintetsu Department Store. We couldn't find the store where they used to keep shochu, and the other store was crowded, so we walked around looking for a good place. We found a place with a sign outside offering a "tipsy set" for 980 yen, so we decided to go in. The store seemed to be newly opened, with a bright and colorful atmosphere that would appeal to women. The female staff were young and wore black aprons like sommeliers, creating a nice yet unique atmosphere. We ordered the set which included a glass of beer and a choice of tofu, salami or skewers, or ham for 980 yen. Since there were three of us, we ordered salami, skewers, and ham each. Smoking was allowed, but as more female customers and couples with children came in, the atmosphere became less suitable for smoking, so we refrained from smoking. In total, we paid around 6500 yen for the three of us.
