This is a bakery right in front of Nijo Station, filled with the scent of wood. They use carefully selected ingredients such as domestic wheat and vegetables, so I decided to give it a try. Prices vary between takeout and eat-in, and the prices listed here are for takeout. Must-eat Curry Bun - 260 yen It's filled with mini diced beef and diced potatoes, giving it a satisfying texture. It's on the sweeter side with not too much spiciness. The dough is chewy, with a crispy outer layer, living up to its reputation as a delicious specialty. Highly recommended. Sesame-scented Ham and Shiso Roll - 250 yen Shiso, ham, mayonnaise, and cheese are combined for a flavorful taste. The refreshing shiso balances out the richness of the bacon, while the mayo and cheese add creaminess, and the sesame adds a nice aroma. A truly exceptional item. The soft dough makes it a delicious bread even when cold. Salmon Avocado - 320 yen Salmon, avocado, and a creamy filling. It's generously filled with salmon. Personally, I think it would be better with diced onions added. Sweet Potato and Salted Butter Roll - 230 yen The soft dough has a crispy outer layer with a distinct outline. The sweet sweet potato paste pairs well with the slightly salty flavor, which I really enjoyed. Walnut Milk Bread - 200 yen The homemade milk cream with a crunchy texture is delicious! It's slightly sweet but has a deep richness without being overwhelming, and the walnuts are evenly distributed. Another favorite of mine. An Butter Sandwich Roll - A bread roll with red bean paste and thick butter sandwiched between. Personally, I prefer sprouted or chewy dough, but this one is light and easy to eat.

The customer service was great and the bread was delicious, I want to go back again. They also offer eat-in options, where you can choose to have coffee brewed for you or drink the juice available in paper packs. I bought three different items and all of them were tasty. Especially the salted butter red bean bun!

I stopped by a bakery called "Lion BAKERY" that I found when I went to see some indoor plants on Nijo Street. It's conveniently located near the station and they offer a lineup of classic fluffy breads. Cream puffs, red bean buns, curry buns, melon bread, croissants, butter rolls, sandwich bread... a variety of breads that would appeal to people of all ages, and seem like they could be straight out of "Anpanman". They seem to aim for daily bread that doesn't get boring, with a focus on using domestically produced wheat and butter. I bought a melon bread and a ham roll and ate them in the car right away. - Melon bread: 167 yen - Ham roll: 250 yen - Salted butter red bean bun: 186 yen The melon bread had a crunchy cookie dough on top with a fluffy bread inside, and the sugar on the surface added a nice texture. It would have been even more delicious with a bit more buttery aroma... but it was still good. The ham roll, the shop's second most popular item, had lots of fragrant white sesame seeds on a fluffy dough, with ham, mayonnaise, and shiso doing a great job together. I also recommend it. The salted butter red bean bun was slightly re-baked for me. The slightly crispy dough had a fluffy texture inside, with butter oozing out and a perfect balance of saltiness. It also had a very refined red bean paste inside. Overall, the bakery offers healthy and delicious classic breads that might make you want to eat them every day. It's a bakery that feels comforting and has a good variety of breads without being too fancy.

It's a relatively new shop that recently opened? The big hit seems to be the large leaf ham roll and salt bread, and for some reason, they also sell vegetables like onions. Ohagi ○○... a non-greasy red bean donut with kinako sprinkled on top. The bread dough is thin and not too sweet.

I visited for a solo lunch on Saturday. I had bought salt bread before and it was delicious, so I decided to visit again. I purchased two breads and an iced latte. I was able to enjoy them leisurely by myself. Thank you for a delicious time.

The atmosphere of the store was bright and very cozy. This time I got takeout, but it seemed like there was also an eat-in space, so I definitely want to dine in next time! The "Must-Eat Curry Pan" lives up to its name, it's a must-try!

At 2 o'clock on Saturday. It's located just east of Karasuma Street from Nijo Station. There are plenty of deli breads to choose from, making it quite a dilemma. It's quite rare to see a store with this many types lined up at this time, other than major chain stores. Plus, the prices are mainly around ¥200, which is very reasonable. There were quite a few housewives coming in one after another, so it seems to be quite popular. There were several breads that caught my eye, so I will definitely come back.

The Tuna and Tomato Panini for 250 yen (tax included) and the Honey Camembert for 300 yen (tax included) were both delicious. I wanted to buy the Red Bean Butter Sandwich but couldn't find it in the store. I chose the two items mentioned above and went to the register. I found out that the Red Bean Butter Sandwich needs to be ordered from the staff at the register. Three bread items are too many, so I'll come back to buy it another time!

A new bakery located on the right side along Oike Street at the intersection in front of Nijo Station. For lunch, I bought kinpira gobou (200), walnut bread (180), walnut milk (200), and dried fruits (280). The freshly baked kinpira gobou has finely sliced, lightly seasoned kinpira and a chewy bread dough that complement each other well. The walnut bread has a rich walnut aroma, and the walnut milk is like a dessert with walnut bread and milk sauce sandwiched together. The dried fruits, sliced to a moderate thickness, were enjoyable when paired with milk tea.

This is a bakery that opened last year. The staff are friendly and you can enjoy your bread with a drink inside the store. I bought the second most popular ham roll with shiso, ohagi bread, and melon bread. The ham roll was delicious with plenty of sesame seeds, very fragrant. All the breads were priced in the 200 yen range, so it was reasonable and good.

I was able to buy the An Salt Butter Roll for the third time. The melon pan was delicious at 180 yen (tax included), and the salmon cuscus was 351 yen (tax included). The An Salt Butter Roll was 200 yen (tax included), and the walnut milk was 200 yen (tax included). They only sell 10 rolls per day. It was delicious, so I will buy it again. Next time, I will try the An Butter Sandwich!

This is my first time writing a review on Tabelog, but I have already visited this bakery more than 5 times. It is located very close to Nijo Station, just across the street from Komeda Coffee. This bakery is a branch of the popular Lion Cafe in Yamashina. What I love about this bakery is their concept of making bread that you can enjoy every day. Some bakeries make bread that is too heavy to eat every day, even if it tastes good. However, the balance of flavors at this bakery is really well done, so you can enjoy it every morning without getting tired of it. The owner of the shop is very particular about using only high-quality ingredients that are good for your body, so you can trust that everything they bake is healthy. I always buy around 6 different kinds of bread, like curry bread and salt bread, when I visit.

Walnut milk: 200 yen Homemade milk cream Whole wheat biscuit: 350 yen Delicious with prosciutto and Camembert I enjoyed it. Next, I want to buy the salted butter roll series. I want to go again. A safe bread that sticks to three things: domestic wheat, domestic butter, and additive-free dough.

On December 21, 2022, before 6 pm, I visited a bakery that I wasn't sure existed in this area. As I was wondering, a staff member opened the door from inside and welcomed me. I looked around and chose salted butter rolls, croissants, and sandwich bread. The sandwich bread (pain de mie) was sliced into 8 pieces. It looks fluffy and delicious. I warmed it in the oven at home, and the salted butter roll had the perfect amount of salt. The part with rock salt was especially tasty. The curry bread seems to be a recommended item. I wanted to try it.

I recently tried the popular curry bread, cream bread, and salt bread with red bean paste from a newly opened bakery. They were all delicious, but what impressed me the most was the salt bread with red bean paste. The sweetness of the red bean paste and the saltiness of the bread complemented each other perfectly, creating a delightful flavor that made me want to come back for more. I look forward to trying other items on their menu next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I purchased the famous curry bread, walnut bread, sweet red bean and salted butter bread, and cream bread. The curry bread had chunks of meat inside and was very delicious with a satisfying portion. The walnut bread had a slightly sweet taste, perfect for a snack, and I definitely want to buy it again. The sweet red bean and salted butter bread had plenty of Hokkaido sweet red bean inside, which paired really well with the dough, making me want to recommend it to others. The cream bread had a simple taste but gave off a feeling of Lion Bakery taking care of everyone, from children to the elderly, a reliable bread that everyone would want to eat. The prices were reasonable, and the atmosphere and staff in the store were very pleasant, so I will definitely be a repeat customer.

This is a bakery located 147m from JR Nijo Station. I noticed it while walking from my hotel to Nijo Castle and was drawn to its charming exterior. I decided to stop by on my way back from the castle. The trademark, which combines a lion's mane and bread, is lovely. Although there is an eat-in area at the back, I opted for takeout as I planned to eat at the hotel later. I purchased the "Hamikoro Dog" (260 yen) and the "Chestnut Red Bean Butter Sandwich" (210 yen). The payment was made through a self-service machine. The butter in the sandwich looked nice and tasted good, but I personally found it a bit too much. The "Hamikoro Dog" was cheap and felt like a good deal. It seemed like a new shop, but with its cute exterior and pleasant atmosphere, I had a feeling it would become more popular. Thank you for the meal.

On this rainy day, a new bakery opened and while it wasn't too crowded, the place was bustling with people. They had a wide variety of breads... I bought a red bean bun (180 yen), a curry bread (260 yen), a pickled mustard leaf bun (200 yen), a salted butter roll (180 yen), a ham and cheese dog (260 yen), a double egg dog (220 yen), and a wiener dog (250 yen). There were many other breads I wanted to buy, but this time I bought just these and hurried back home with my wife to enjoy them. The bread was soft with a slightly sweet dough and generous fillings, very delicious! The prices were reasonable and easy to buy. As a bonus for their opening, we also received some rusk!

Second time trying it and it's still delicious - the sesame-scented ham roll for 250 yen and the red bean paste bun for 180 yen. The buns are made with organic red bean paste from Hokkaido, using domestic wheat and butter to create a healthy, additive-free dough.
