A curry specialty restaurant located on the second floor of a building by the river, exuding a sense of history. As soon as you enter, you can tell the chef and what seems to be his wife are veterans. The customers also have a seasoned feel to them. While they offer beef curry, the fact that vegetable curry is listed first indicates it's their signature dish. I ordered the vegetable curry. I sat at the counter, where I could see the chefs skillfully cooking right in front of me. They started by sautéing vegetables that take longer to cook, gradually adding a variety of veggies. The curry was served on rice, topped with lightly salted sautéed vegetables, fresh vegetables, and a side of pickled vegetables – a veggie feast. You can taste over 10 different types of vegetables in this healthy curry. The curry itself leans towards the old-school Kansai-style sweet and savory curry, with a mild level of spiciness. However, the sweetness of the vegetables shines through, creating a gradually accumulating deliciousness. It's unique and satisfying. This vegetable curry is unlike any other and is recommended for when you need to up your veggie intake.

Thursday 18:15, visited Mr. Igurek for the first time in a while. Two other customers were already there. It had been about four years since my last visit. The curry, which used to be under 1,000 yen, has now gone up in price with the passage of time. Vegetable curry for 1,200 yen arrived at 18:30. The wife gently placed it in front of me to prevent any spillage. The mountain of vegetables and curry is still impressive as ever. And there are so many vegetables that you wouldn't normally find in curry, but when you take a bite, the fruity curry and fresh vegetables harmonize beautifully. I still love this dish. When I asked how many types of vegetables are in it, I was told around 15-16. No wonder I rarely encounter the same combination of vegetables besides onions. I'm curious about the beef curry and shrimp curry, but I always end up ordering the vegetable curry. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Visited for lunch on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. It was my first time at this restaurant. I've passed by this building many times, but it was the first time I noticed the stairs on the south side. There was one customer inside when I arrived, and another came in later. I ordered the vegetable curry, which seemed to be the most famous dish. It took less than 10 minutes from ordering to being served. The curry had a lot of vegetables, almost like a Jiro-style curry. As someone who doesn't like vegetables, I was surprised by how good it tasted! The variety of vegetables was impressive. For women or those with small appetites, asking for less rice would be a good idea.

Descending from Kiyomizu-dera, I had a delicious European-style curry at a mixed-use building in Kiyamachi called Otsu Curry. The creamy sauce had a unique flavor that stood out. The curry was more like a drink, and the experienced owner was very likable. I believe this place should be considered for Goro Inogashira's business trip to Kyoto. In recent years, Kyoto has been influenced by the spice curry culture coming from Osaka (which is of course very welcome), but the traditional European-style curries in Kyoto are also exceptional. I now realize the importance of balancing my curry intake by visiting various curry restaurants in the future.

After discussing how unhealthy it is to finish a night of drinking in Pontocho with ramen, I started being more careful. So why not finish with curry instead? A healthier option. That's why I ordered the vegetable curry at this restaurant. The amount of vegetables was astonishingly large, almost too much for my stomach, making me wonder if it was actually good for my body. But on this day, I chose the beef curry. The taste of the curry here is gentle, not too strong but still flavorful. That's what I like about it. When the beef curry arrived, I noticed that there was a lot of rice! However, with the friendly conversation with the master, I managed to finish it all.

I was recommended to try this place because it's incredibly delicious, so I decided to visit for my last lunch in Kyoto. I was expecting a trendy curry made by a spice-loving young man, but to my surprise, it was actually made by a chatty old man. And even more surprising, it was a Western-style curry. The curry came in three varieties: vegetable, beef, and shrimp. Normally I would choose beef, but this place is known for its vegetables, so I went with the Vegetable Curry for 1100 yen. The portion size was smaller than I expected, but the mountain of vegetables on top was enough to fill me up! Not only was there a lot of food, but the variety was impressive, and everything was delicious! The curry had a simple taste with a hidden spiciness that made it easy to eat. This was definitely delicious. The best part was the fun chat with the old man, and I definitely want to come back for dinner next time!

I was drinking in Mokucho and it was time to decide what to have for my meal. I usually go for ramen, but I felt like that was too basic this time. I wanted something healthier for my body. That's when I thought of vegetable curry. The vegetable curry here makes me feel like I'm getting healthier with every bite. I climbed the stairs and entered the restaurant, greeted by the familiar master. I immediately ordered the vegetable curry. The master started sautéing the vegetables in a pan, and after a while, the dish arrived. It was a lot more than I remembered! The amount of vegetables was overwhelming, and I realized that it wouldn't necessarily make me healthier by eating it. I ended up feeling full and regretting overeating. It was a vegetable curry experience that made me rethink my love for spicy curry.

The staff at the restaurant were very kind and the atmosphere was great. The beef curry was delicious with tender beef. The curry sauce was slightly thick and had a good balance of various flavors without overpowering each other.

This is my second visit here. My partner ordered vegetable curry, so as a shrimp lover, I ordered shrimp curry. They both arrived almost at the same time. The shrimp curry had six small shrimp. The vegetable curry was piled high with vegetables on top of the rice, so it was quite a large portion. My partner seemed to be struggling a bit, so I helped out a little. Yeah, next time, I'll definitely go for the vegetable curry.

Just a short walk from Hankyu Kyoto Kawaramachi Station. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building, with a large sign hanging below the window making it easy to spot. Upon entering and going up the stairs, you'll find the entrance. The exterior and interior give off a hidden gem vibe, reminiscent of a cozy bar or café. I arrived around 6:30 pm and there were quite a few solo customers, creating a comfortable atmosphere. One of the customers seemed like a regular, engaging in casual conversation with the owner, adding to the homely feel. This place is a curry restaurant, offering "Vegetable Curry," "Beef Curry," and "Small Shrimp Curry" for 1,050 yen each (tax included). Given the current 10% consumption tax, this pricing seems very reasonable. I ordered the "Vegetable Curry" as recommended. It was served about 10 minutes after ordering. The curry was packed with a variety of vegetables like beans, water spinach, lotus root, and Chinese cabbage. Each vegetable was prepared differently to highlight its texture and flavor. The curry sauce was on the thinner side, with a home-cooked taste that was very comforting. The portion was huge, thanks to the generous amount of vegetables. Surprisingly, there was no meat or seafood included (probably). However, as I progressed through the meal, I found it a bit monotonous. But for those who prefer meat or seafood, they can opt for the "Beef Curry" or "Small Shrimp Curry." Overall, the "Vegetable Curry" was well-executed, and I felt like I had consumed my vegetable intake for 2-3 days. It feels like my healthy lifespan has been extended, so thank you very much.

I wanted to eat Igurek's curry after a long time. It's different from the trendy spice curry, as it is a sweet and mellow curry made by the French owner. There are three types of curry, but I always go for the "vegetable curry" which has lots of deep-fried vegetables on top, perfect for Instagram photos. Igurek's curry is something I crave from time to time.

Today's second stop was a small place that caught my interest. Located in a building along Takase River, the door was left open. The owner guided me to a seat near the entrance with good air conditioning. The menu offered three types of curry: beef, vegetable, and shrimp, all priced at 980 yen including tax. I usually go for beef curry, but this time I chose vegetable. Since there were no other customers, we started a conversation about the heat. The walls were decorated with receipts and bills from restaurants both in Japan and abroad. The owner mentioned that he used to travel around trying different foods. When the curry arrived, it was not what I expected. Instead of the usual vegetable curry with big chunks of potatoes, carrots, and okra, it was a curry topped with stir-fried vegetables like bean sprouts, broccoli, okra, shimeji mushrooms, and corn. The taste was mild, creamy, and sweet, lacking spiciness. While I understand that many people enjoy this type of curry, as someone who has always preferred spicy and hot curries, it left me feeling unsatisfied. I couldn't help but imagine how it would taste if the vegetables were served on top of a flavorful curry rice. Perhaps the beef or shrimp versions of the curry alter the taste of the sauce. It made me think of the concept of Kyoto-style Chinese cuisine, which tones down the spiciness and saltiness. I wondered if this was a similar idea with Kyoto-style curry.

I forgot to post one review after returning from my hometown. To Igurek-san, it's been six months since I last visited in winter. There was one other customer, a woman, chatting happily. Today, the master and his wife were there. I ordered the vegetable curry (980 yen). The vegetable curry, where the vegetables are sautéed before being combined with the roux, is packed with plenty of vegetables and really helps to blow away the fatigue from work. Normally, I prefer Indian curry or rich Western-style curry, but this vegetable curry is different from both and is a very comforting and soothing curry. When my water ran out, the wife kindly asked if I wanted a refill, showing that they are attentive. Although the restaurant has high ratings on Tabelog, it's relatively quiet in the evenings, making it a hidden gem. While looking at the menu, the liver pate looked very delicious and caught my eye, so I thought it might be a good place to come for drinks. Or rather, since the owner seems to have a French background, even though it's a curry restaurant, the appetizers have a French touch. I've only had the vegetable curry so far, but I have a feeling that everything else must be delicious too. Vegetable curry is a classic, but I'm curious about the other items as well. I would like to visit again, thank you for the meal.

I fell in love at first sight with the vegetable curry after seeing photos from many reviewers! Finally, I was able to visit the restaurant that I had been wanting to go to. The restaurant is on the second floor, with a red sign outside the building as a landmark. After climbing a narrow staircase, we found the restaurant on the right side, with a counter and two small tables for two. We decided to share the "Homemade Liver Mousse Sweet Sherry Flavor" and the "Vegetable Curry" for our first visit. Even though I usually don't like liver or mousse, I tried a bit of the dish my partner ordered. Surprisingly, there was a lot of bread served with it! If I had come alone, I might not have been able to finish both the curry and the liver mousse. The vegetable curry was just like in the photos, with lots of vegetables and overflowing curry sauce on the plate. The curry was not too spicy, even for someone like me who enjoys spicy food. It didn't leave a heavy feeling in my stomach after eating. The variety of vegetables in the curry was amazing. The chef even asked if we needed more rice after we finished eating. Even though we had beer too, we were completely satisfied with the meal. This curry is different from the spice curries that have become popular recently, and it's a type of curry that I have never had before. I was worried about the lack of a vegetable salad, but with this vegetable curry, it wasn't necessary. I am very satisfied and will definitely be coming back here many more times in the future.

The sweetness and spiciness of the curry at this place is unique. The sweetness of the vegetables and the crunchy texture that is characteristic of vegetables made me think this place is special. I visited after considering the reviews, and it was the right choice. The toilet is cute, clean, and well-maintained. It's open until 11 pm, so I can come anytime. The price of ¥980 is reasonable considering the location. I didn't need to get the large size for an extra ¥200, as I was satisfied with the regular portion. I wonder how they bring out the sweetness and light richness in the curry that I haven't experienced before.

It is located near Café Soire along the Takase River in Shijo Kawaramachi. It is on the 2nd floor of a building, so you need to find the sign and go up the stairs. The door was open. Inside, there are counter seats and table seats, and there was one customer sitting at the end of the counter. I had seen the vegetable curry here on TV before and had the impression that it was a curry with lots of vegetables. I entered with that in mind, sat at the counter, and ordered the vegetable curry. It is run by a husband and wife, and you can see the husband cooking the vegetables. After a while, the vegetable curry arrived! There are so many vegetables! Onions, bell peppers, paprika, komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach?), eringi mushrooms, shimeji mushrooms, broccoli, mizuna, and more. Cabbage and nagaimo (Chinese yam) pickles are also served. The curry is light but has a rich flavor and is delicious. I got a little tired of it after eating about two-thirds, but I finished it! It was delicious! I want to go eat it again. Thank you for the meal.

In March 2019, I wandered around looking for lunch in Kawaramachi Shijo, Kyoto without a reservation. I found a cozy café near the Kamo River, with a red and white interior and about 10 counter and table seats. The curry menu offered three options: beef, vegetable, and small shrimp. I ordered the vegetable curry for 980 yen, which was packed with lotus root, pickled cabbage, yam, enoki mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, spinach, snap peas, onion, komatsuna, potato, red bell pepper, and mushrooms. The curry was mild and easy to eat, with a nice buttery aroma from sautéed vegetables. The rice was a bit moist, but the generous portion of vegetables made the meal satisfying. After indulging in the curry, I took a leisurely stroll to Kinkaku-ji Temple. It was a delightful dining experience!

Thursday 9:30 PM, I was curious about Igurek-san. This is a curry restaurant. It seems that the vegetable curry is delicious. In the hustle and bustle of Koyamachi, I could see the 2nd floor restaurant open. Heart pounding, I climbed the stairs and opened the door. No other customers, just the master. The interior of the shop is like a one-room setup. 6 counter seats, 2 two-seater table seats. I was invited to sit wherever I liked, and I chose a table seat. "There seems to have been a big earthquake in Hokkaido," the master said. He seemed friendly and kind. When I ordered the vegetable curry, I could hear the sound of it being cooked carefully. Each dish is made one by one. "How much rice would you like? This much? More?" he asked, showing me the rice he had plated. Quite friendly. At 9:43 PM, 10 minutes later, the vegetable curry arrived. A voluminous curry with only vegetables visible. I tried the roux first, a light roux with a gentle sweet aftertaste. Lotus root, onions, bell peppers (red and orange), broccoli, Chinese cabbage, garlic chives, shiitake mushrooms, eringi mushrooms, snow peas, sweet potatoes, pickled cabbage, and nagaimo. Vegetables that you wouldn't normally find in curry are sautéed to just the right texture and blend well with the curry. There are about 13 different vegetables in it at all times. Amazing. It felt more like eating curry-flavored mixed vegetables than curry itself. "Is this your first time here? Have you been here before? Do you use Tabelog?" It seemed like I, a solo female customer visiting late at night, was rare, and he was curious about various things. I replied that it was my first time, and I didn't know where to enter from the stairs, and we had a pleasant conversation. "How was the taste?" he asked throughout. When I finished eating, he handed me a shop card and said, "Please come again." The vegetable-filled curry costs 980 yen. I felt quite full and left the restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

This curry with so many vegetables is rare. The curry sauce is delicious and goes well with the stir-fried vegetables. I visited during the cold season in Kyoto. When I entered the restaurant, my glasses fogged up because it was so cold outside at the time. I noticed a menu listing appetizers like garlic shrimp and liver mousse. In addition to the curry, I also chose the liver mousse. This liver mousse was exquisite. It was fluffy and had a great texture. I dipped it in bread and took a bite, it was delicious. And it was so cheap, only around 600 yen. If I visit again, I will definitely order it again. The portion of vegetable curry was quite large, so I was full. On a snowy day in chilly Kyoto, I was able to have a warm meal.

After drinking in Kiyamachi, there must be at least 100 people who crave curry. Tonight, I am one of them. Lately, I've been concerned about the sugar content in curry and rice. Despite some hesitation, I let my drunkenness guide me to this restaurant. Why? Because they have vegetable curry. I climb the stairs and sit at the counter inside. The vegetable curry is prepared after ordering, with the master sautéing and combining the curry before serving it on a bed of rice. Ignoring whether it meets the daily vegetable intake, I indulge in the satisfaction of eating so many vegetables and pick up my spoon. It may sound crude, but it's like eating tantanmen with just vegetables, yet it has a rich flavor. Surprisingly, there's a generous portion of rice as well. I devour it all in one go and say, "Thank you for the meal." The master's words, "Are you full now?" make me happy.
