Located in Kawaramachi Maruta-cho, this is a traditional Thai restaurant. There doesn't seem to be a dedicated parking lot. For this Phuket lunch, you can enjoy various Thai dishes such as fried egg-topped shrimp ball basil rice, fried chicken, green curry, tom yum goong, salad, and coconut milk. The fried egg is fried in oil, making it delicious! The basil rice is delicious, the green curry is delicious, and you can fully enjoy Thai cuisine. The shrimp balls have a great shrimp flavor and texture, and are seasoned well, very delicious. Be sure to try them freshly fried. The staff at the restaurant were also great with their service.

This is my third time having lunch here, always alone. The fact that there are many solo diners makes it easy to enter. One important thing to note is that they only accept cash! Around noon on weekdays, customers start coming in one after another. I always order the Khao Man Gai. It seems like most other customers also order Khao Man Gai, at least half of them. This time, I chose the set menu for lunch. In the set, along with the main dish, you also get a fried chicken thigh, a shrimp chip, a salad, a vegetable-only fresh spring roll, and coconut milk. The portion is generous - the rice for Khao Man Gai is Thai rice, freshly cooked and delicious. The chicken thigh meat is tender. There are two types of sauce, one with lots of garlic chili sauce (on the right) and a mysterious sauce with a hint of black sugar (on the left). Cilantro is not included, but you can add it for an extra 130 yen. There are many options you can add for an additional 50 yen, so it might be a bit pricey. Overall, this is a very convenient and much-appreciated restaurant.

I climbed Mt. Hiei and on my way back, I decided to have dinner in Kyoto. The Portuguese restaurant I had in mind was fully booked, so I ended up going to a nearby restaurant that I had noticed before, which serves Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. I ordered the "Krung Thep Set" which includes Tom Yum soup, Green Curry, Yam Woon Sen, Chicken Gapao, Fresh Spring Rolls, Gai Tod (fried chicken), and Jasmine Rice. I also added a Banh Mi and Khao Soi for extra. The Khao Soi was a bit disappointing as it was different from what I had tried before. The dishes were all authentic and delicious, especially the Jasmine Rice. The only letdown was the Coconut Ice Cream, as the balance of coconut flavor and sweetness was not quite right. Overall, if you're looking for classic Thai and Vietnamese dishes in Kyoto, this is the perfect spot. It's a shame that they only have branches in Kyoto.

Visited on a Saturday night. It was a bit early, so there were still seats available. I ordered the Tom Yum Kung Ramen for ¥780. The noodles were like glass noodles or vermicelli. I chose thin noodles, so they mixed well with the soup and tasted delicious. (You can choose from thin, medium, or thick noodles)

Located near the bus stop at Kawaramachi Maruta-cho, this restaurant is spacious and had a few customers during my visit on a weekday afternoon. The name suggests that it is a place for true cilantro lovers, with a carefully selected menu. Each table had condiments for adjusting the flavor, allowing you to customize your dish to your liking. I visited the restaurant with a cilantro-loving friend, so we both ordered the cilantro extra-large portion (20g) each. For lunch, we had the soupless mixed noodles set cold noodles mini size for 1090 yen and the cilantro extra-large portion for 630 yen. The cold noodles were delicious, with smooth and thin noodles. The mixed noodles were topped with plenty of cilantro, bean sprouts, and a few pieces of fried chicken. Adding the extra-large cilantro portion on top made the noodles disappear under a mountain of cilantro. The pho ga was also delightful, with thick and tender noodles that paired perfectly with the right amount of saltiness and cilantro. I once again realized how well cilantro and pho complement each other. It was a delicious and unexpectedly enjoyable experience in a lovely place. I definitely want to go back again!

Pakuchi Middle Plate ¥429 During spring break on a weekday around 1 pm, I entered the restaurant without waiting in line. Even though I didn't line up, the staff didn't notice me, so I stood around for a while. After waiting for 3-4 minutes, it was my turn to be seated, and they disinfected a nearby table for me. Three of us ordered the same Bangkok Crunch dish, and one person added an extra order because they love coriander. The coriander was a bit expensive for this season, around 180 yen for a bunch. Each of us had different opinions - one liked the Tom Yum Goong (not too spicy for Japanese taste), one found the Pad Gra Pao slightly spicy, and one didn't like the coconut flavor in the Green Curry. We also tried Jasmine rice, which we don't usually eat. The spring rolls with sweet chili sauce were delicious, and opinions on tapioca were mixed. Some didn't like the coconut milk. It was a fun lunch set where we could try different dishes and figure out our preferences. The restaurant had a Thai atmosphere with posters and dishes from Thailand. The staff seemed Thai, speaking in a foreign language, and there were also English-speaking customers and other foreign tourists, making it feel like we had really traveled to Thailand. ☆

I love this restaurant because they serve authentic Thai cuisine that I can't usually find elsewhere. I tried the grilled chicken with coriander omelette and it was delicious. The omelette had a crispy texture from being fried in plenty of oil, and the coriander added a nice flavor. It went well with beer. The grilled chicken was thick and well-seasoned with unique spices that made it very tasty. The menu has a lot of options, so I want to try more dishes next time. The service at the restaurant was also excellent.

After finishing up some errands in Kawaramachi Marutamachi, my daughter said she wanted to eat something ethnic, so we stopped by this restaurant. I had previously tried their "soup-less mixed noodles" and it was delicious. This time, we ordered the "fried rice lunch" and the "Khao Man Gai lunch". Both lunches come with three side dishes and tapioca coconut milk, which is a great deal. The "fried rice lunch" had a subtle ethnic flavor, not too overpowering but still fragrant and delicious. I could eat this all day long, it was that good. The accompanying fried chicken had a sweet sauce that really brought out the ethnic flavors. The "Khao Man Gai" had tasty seasoned rice that my daughter couldn't stop eating. The chicken was tender and you could dip it in two different sauces, one with a strong star anise flavor and the other a sweet and rich miso sauce which I preferred. The restaurant has a casual and unpretentious atmosphere, almost making you feel like you're actually in the country of the cuisine. The prices are reasonable and you can enjoy a variety of ethnic flavors. I also tried their "soup-less mixed noodles" before and they were also satisfying with fresh spring rolls. There are many menu items that I would like to try in the future.

Located approximately a 5-minute walk from Keihan Jingu Marutamachi Station and about a 12-minute walk from Marutamachi Subway Station, this popular Thai restaurant has multiple locations in Kyoto. The Thai chef, who came to Japan from Thailand, uses authentic Thai spices and herbs imported directly from Thailand to create genuine Thai cuisine. The signature dish, Banh Mi, is served at the standard pre-inflation price of 590 yen. This time, I chose the Banh Mi set with fresh spring rolls and soup. The Banh Mi is already a great deal on its own, but getting it in a set makes it even more worth it. Thank you for the delicious meal.

After visiting the art museum, I felt like having Thai food and drinks, so I decided to stop by this restaurant. This time, I tried green papaya salad, Thai sweet potato fries, Thai grilled chicken, Khao Man Gai, green curry, etc. I enjoyed tasting different dishes and having drinks. The green papaya salad had a nice texture and a good level of spiciness that went well with beer. The Thai sweet potato fries were delicious and the Thai grilled chicken had a sweet sauce that was tasty. Khao Man Gai was also very delicious. Although the flavors were different from Japanese cuisine, I had a fun dining experience. The Thai beer was smooth and tasty as well. The staff were friendly and provided great service, making it an enjoyable and delicious dinner!

I stopped by for lunch. The restaurant is conveniently located near a bus stop and at an intersection, making it easy to find. I ordered the Bangkok Crunch Bánh Mì combo, which came with various side dishes and dessert, making it a great deal. The shrimp crackers, fried chicken, and spring rolls were all delicious. Especially the green curry was really tasty with a good level of spiciness. The Tom Yum soup might be a hit or miss for some people. The dessert was also very delicious. My partner ordered the Bánh Mì sandwich, which was also tasty. The staff was kind and provided excellent service, making the lunch experience enjoyable.

I visited the restaurant for lunch on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. The restaurant was about 40% full. I decided to order the Khao Soi, which I had been craving. They offer a set menu, but I prefer to order just the main dish as I don't need salad or anything else. The dish arrived quickly, which surprised me. It came with onions, which was a nice touch. The soup was a curry-flavored coconut milk base, milder in spice compared to what I had in Thailand. The texture of the noodles was great. The soup was so delicious that I ended up finishing every last drop.

On Sunday afternoon, I had a Chicken Pho and fried spring rolls set with chicken soboro, herb rice, and coconut milk pho from a Vietnamese food place. The coconut milk pho had a very authentic taste, but I can't forgive the fact that there was a piece of cilantro in it. The fried spring rolls had a chewy skin, giving it a new texture. The herb rice set had cilantro sprinkled on top, giving it a refreshing lemongrass flavor. The rice was Thai rice, which was a nice touch. After the meal, I visited the nearby Nashiki Shrine. It's a small shrine with a field of bush clovers. Unfortunately, the flowers were past their peak last week. Inside the shrine, there is a well of Somenoi water, one of the three famous waters in Kyoto. Many people were coming to draw water, and it costs 100 yen for up to 5 liters. I learned that Dr. Hideki Yukawa, Japan's first Nobel Prize winner, was the first chairman of the Nashiki Shrine's bush clover association, and there is a monument dedicated to him. Kyoto really has so many wonderful places to explore.

I was brought to this popular restaurant by an acquaintance. At first, I had some resistance because I associated Thai food with cilantro. I ordered the lunch set, which came with Gapao rice, two types of curry, and dessert. It was great that I could eat the Gapao rice in a normal way or mix the rice with the curry. Everything was delicious. I also noticed other menu items that caught my interest, and I heard they offer course meals at night, so I would like to invite my friends next time.

I went to eat green curry with a friend who was trying Thai food for the first time for lunch! I don't like spicy food, but I love green curry so much that I'll even take stomach medicine to eat it, haha. The curry here was relatively mild, and the set also came with tapioca coconut milk which was a lifesaver! It was delicious and I finished it all. My friend (who doesn't like regular curry, haha) also seemed to like it, so I'm glad!

I went to Marutamachi Pakuchi because the main Sanjo Pakuchi store was still closed. There are now a total of 4 stores open. The kitchen and floor staff are all Thai, very friendly and provide excellent service. I tried the following dishes: - Mango Juice: A rich and delicious juice. - Som Tam Salad: A spicy salad made with green papaya, recommended for those who like spicy food. - Pakuchi Omelette (Large): My favorite omelette with coriander, not spicy and recommended for those who don't like spicy food. - Grilled Pork Throat: A delicious dish with the perfect balance of fat and meat. - Pad Thai (without peanuts and bean sprouts, large portion): My favorite dish, the flavoring is just right and I always order a large portion. Marutamachi Pakuchi served larger portions of Som Tam Salad and Pad Thai compared to the main Sanjo Pakuchi store. It seems like the portion sizes may vary depending on the store or chef. I have tried most of the Thai restaurants in Kyoto, and while the flavors here are delicious, I wish the portions were a bit larger.

Thursday 20:05 Pakuchi Marutamachi No customers at the moment. I sit at a 2-seater table. There are many Uber Eats delivery people coming in and out. I ordered the popular Vietnamese menu set for 1,430 yen and a Banh Mi (with pate and Vietnamese ham) to go for 611 yen. I wanted to try the authentic Banh Mi after having a delicious one at Pla Vita the other day. 20:21 The set arrives. It includes chicken pho, fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls, and a small serving of minced meat rice (the rice portion is small). The pho is quite filling with a generous portion. You can top the pho with bean sprouts, cilantro, and lemon on a separate plate. The soup is light, so you can adjust the taste to your liking with the condiments on the table. I personally enjoyed it as is. The rice has a flavor that suits Japanese taste, so it's comforting to eat. Overall, I prefer the taste at Com Gon, but I appreciate the diverse menu options here as well. I finished eating too quickly and was told that the Banh Mi would be ready in another 3 minutes. I had the Banh Mi at home, and it was a hit for me. The balance of pate and cilantro was excellent, and it might become addictive. I'm curious about their lunch menu, so I would like to visit again. (Although my daughter said, "It's impressive that you're going into that shady-looking place alone at night.") Thank you for the meal.

For lunch today, I tried the Tom Yum Ramen set at Pakuchi-san. I opted for the large serving of noodles for an additional 90 yen. The Tom Yum Ramen had a perfect balance of spiciness and sourness, with a tantalizing aroma of lemongrass. The noodles were just right, with an Asian twist that complemented the Tom Yum soup well. I enjoyed a satisfying and delicious meal!

I visited "Pakchee" for lunch! I ordered the "Bangkok Lunch" (1100 yen) which includes dishes like Gapao Rice, Tom Yum Kung Soup, and Green Curry, seems like a good deal. I added a fried egg for an extra 70 yen. The Gapao Rice had a nice flavor from the meat fat! Breaking the fried egg and mixing the yolk with the rice was delicious. The Tom Yum Kung was spicy and made me sweat. The spring rolls were homemade and freshly fried, very tasty. I enjoyed the Green Curry with the leftover rice, alternating bites with the Gapao. I finished the meal with a refreshing coconut milk tapioca. It was delicious and satisfying!

The menu at this restaurant is very diverse, and you can enjoy various flavors like adding fried eggs on top. You can have a full course of Thai dishes including salad, soup, fresh spring rolls, fried food, curry, yakisoba, and dessert. And they are all delicious! Today, I had: - Guava Juice - Som Tam Salad: A spicy salad with green papaya, peanuts, tomatoes, green beans, carrots, etc. - Lemongrass Salad: A sweet and sour salad with minced pork, lemongrass, shrimp, scallions, and red onions. - Coriander Omelette: A large omelette with coriander and chili sauce. - Fried Shrimp Balls: Crunchy fried shrimp balls served with sweet chili sauce. - Pad Thai (Extra Large, without peanuts and bean sprouts): A sweet and sour Thai stir-fried noodle dish with shrimp, tofu, onions, and chives. All the dishes were delicious, especially the Pad Thai which was sweet and tasty. The portions were generous, and I ended up ordering an extra-large serving. The staff was surprised to see a woman finish such a big portion, but I couldn't help it because the food was so good! If you know of any good Thai restaurants in Kyoto, please let me know.
