I visited the restaurant in May 2022 for breakfast. It is located just a short walk from Nishiki Market, down the street from Fuyacho-dori. It is about a 5-minute walk from Shijo Station. The restaurant is a two-story traditional townhouse. I ordered the breakfast set for 1350 yen and the sake tasting set for 800 yen. The breakfast is available from opening until 11 am and includes 12 small dishes, miso soup, and a choice of white rice or mixed grain rice. I chose the mixed grain rice, which was beautifully presented in glass bowls and tasted delicious with subtle flavors. The sake tasting set included 3 types of Kyoto sake and 3 small dishes to pair with. The sake, Tamano Hikari, Marutake Ebisu, and Takumi, were all excellent. The sake paired well with the Kyoto-style small dishes. I highly recommend the breakfast set with small dishes in the morning.

At the end of the year, Nishiki Market in Kyoto is bustling with people despite the cold wind blowing. I made a lunch reservation at a restaurant called Gosen, which is famous for its traditional Japanese meal set. The restaurant is small with only about 5 tables, most of which were reserved. Those who didn't have a reservation were turned away, so it's a place where you must make a reservation. I ordered the Gosen meal set which includes 12 small dishes for 1750 yen, the highlight of the restaurant. I also added a Cheese Yuba Bowl for an extra 300 yen, which came with miso soup. Each dish was delicately flavored and light, so I didn't feel too full even after finishing the Cheese Yuba Bowl. The Cheese Yuba Bowl, made with fluffy egg whites, was delicious and the cheese stretched beautifully. It may look like a lot of food at first, but it was surprisingly easy to eat. I highly recommend trying the Cheese Yuba Bowl at Gosen.

I couldn't get through to make a reservation, so I decided to try my luck and walk in on a different day. There was a 60-minute time limit, but I got in!! What a miracle (о´∀`о) The appetizers were too cute♡ And all of them were delicious!!! The yuba rice bowl was also amazing! Very satisfied♡

I went around Daimaru and Takashimaya for work, and it's Wednesday at 2 o'clock. There were seats available right away. I ordered the Yasaka set and changed it to Yuba-don and Cheese Fuwatoro-don. The price went from 1100 yen to 1400 yen. The side dishes included grilled fish, fried chicken, hijiki seaweed, boiled green vegetables, and Man'nenji pepper. The Yuba-don had a chewy texture with multigrain rice. The saltiness of the cheese was quite noticeable. The fluffy texture was like a fluffy omelette. I was curious about what it would be like, so I am satisfied, but I think the regular Yuba-don would have been better.

I made a reservation for 10 am on a weekday and visited the restaurant. There was only one group of four customers before me. Two solo customers arrived without a reservation later on, but they were still able to enter. I wonder if it gets crowded around lunchtime? I ordered the "Goyotei" set meal (half portion of rice with tofu skin bowl) and a bottle of beer without hesitation. The beer was Heartland, which was unusual. I couldn't really tell the difference in taste, though. The dishes arrived in about 5 minutes and they looked vibrant. I couldn't understand the names of all 12 dishes, but I could roughly figure them out. There was nothing particularly unique or incredibly delicious, but it was enjoyable to look at. I was unsure about what to try next. The miso soup had a strong dashi flavor and was delicious. And the tofu skin bowl was amazing! The tofu skin in a sauce was exquisite! They were selling it as a souvenir, but it was frozen, so I had to give up on buying it. In the end, I had one bottle of beer and two cups of sake and left feeling satisfied.

Various side dishes are served in cute and stylish small bowls, which look fun! It really boosts my mood ❤️ I was worried if it would be enough, but there was actually a good amount and I left feeling satisfied ☺️ The only downside is that the overall seasoning is a bit sweet, so it can get a little monotonous halfway through. It's not bad tasting, but I wish there was more saltiness. The Yuba rice bowl is delicious too, but it would be even better with some shichimi spice haha. The restaurant is cozy and has a nice atmosphere, but the entrance is narrow and the counter is right inside, so if you bump into customers finishing their meals, it can get a bit crowded haha. While waiting outside the shop, it would be nice if they could provide chairs or something, that's just my personal opinion (^O^)

On the 6th day in Kyoto, we had lunch at Kyoto Kappo Ajimi no Mura near Nishiki Market. We made a lunch reservation because we wanted to try the Yuba Donburi for lunch. When we arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes early and informed them of our reservation, they asked us to wait outside because it was still before the designated time. We waited outside for a while as there was no waiting area inside the narrow restaurant. The menu was interesting and we ordered the Yasaka Set, which included six types of obanzai (side dishes) and the Yuba Donburi. The obanzai set arrived first, with dishes like marinated mackerel, chicken karaage, simmered hijiki seaweed, simmered tofu, simmered watercress and mushrooms, and simmered carrot and daikon. There was a pink, translucent ingredient on top of the watercress and mushroom dish that caught my attention, but I couldn't figure out what it was. The Yuba Donburi, served with a savory sauce, was delicious with plenty of yuba (tofu skin), colorful greens, and flower-shaped gluten puffs in the center. The flavors of the sauce and yuba blended well together. The rice was a mix of white and barley rice, with more white rice. My husband ordered the Gagoshoku Zen, which included 12 types of obanzai. He enjoyed the variety of dishes and mentioned that the Yuba Donburi was delicious. Lunch reservations are only available at the Nishiki location, not for breakfast. The restaurant was quite busy when we visited, so I recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends, to avoid long wait times.

I enjoyed a variety of small dishes in colorful little bowls, which made the breakfast at The Kyoto very enjoyable. The menu had surprisingly many options to choose from, allowing me to tailor my meal to my liking. The first floor was full, so we dined on the second floor. Overall, I was very satisfied with the breakfast experience.

About half a year ago, I visited the Shijo Karasuma store and ended up dining here by mistake as the breakfast place I was originally planning to go to had the wrong opening hours. I arrived about 15 minutes before opening time and was the first in line at the empty store. When it was time to open, they asked if anyone had a reservation, and after seating the reserved guests, they also seated me even though I didn't have a reservation. I was led to a Western-style room on the second floor. During the seating process, there seemed to be a miscommunication between the staff, as a young girl (possibly a part-time worker) was pushed aside in front of me, and someone else was assigned to guide me to my table. I could tell that the young girl was the type to work slowly, but I wish they had handled it in a more discreet manner during the busy morning rush. The food was very delicious. I ordered the Asa-Magomae breakfast set and chose white rice. I poured the yuba from one of the small dishes over the rice, creating a DIY yuba rice bowl, and the addition of yuzu was just perfect, creating a delightful texture. Although the portions of each dish were small, with all the small dishes combined, my stomach was satisfactorily filled. Overall, I had a very satisfying and delicious meal with great value for money.

There are many yuba bowl restaurants in Kyoto, but here you can enjoy a fluffy and creamy egg and cheese Western-style yuba bowl! The melted cheese is delicious! Nishiki Market is always crowded, but you can make a reservation here, so I recommend it!

I wanted to eat Kyoto vegetables, so I chose this place for breakfast. The dishes not only look beautiful but also taste delicious, with each small dish being carefully prepared. I especially fell in love with the yuba, which I placed on top of rice to make a yuba rice bowl - it was absolutely irresistible! The seasoning was elegant, and despite not usually eating much in the morning, I ended up finishing everything. Thank you for the meal! (^^)

To experience the atmosphere of Obanzai, it's really cheap and good, isn't it? The photo set is 1000 yen (tax included). I might not visit again separately. It's fun to eat lots of vegetables, but the taste is nothing special.

Breakfast in Kyoto! This is "Kyounamino Mura Nishiki-ten" near Nishiki Market. We made a reservation because it is possible, even for breakfast. We arrived just before 9 am, which is a relaxed time for breakfast, but it was already full. We ordered the "Yasaka set," which includes 6 side dishes and Yuba rice bowl. There was also a "Gagoshoku" set with 12 side dishes, but it seemed too much for breakfast, so we chose the Yasaka set. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be served. The side dishes were beautifully presented in cute dishes, with a mix of cold and warm options, all of which were delicious! The Yuba rice bowl was also a new experience for us and it was very Kyoto-like. Even though the restaurant was getting busier with more customers coming in, the staff were efficient and friendly. Thank you for a delicious meal in the morning!

Lunch - Yuba bowl set for ¥1,000. I visited around 14:00 after going to the beauty salon. It was always crowded with school trip students and groups. I was attracted by the overwhelming cost performance. The Yuba bowl and side dishes were excellent. Especially the Yuba bowl had an unforgettable gentle broth flavor. It seems that the ingredients for the Yuba bowl are sold frozen. You can also add fluffy scrambled eggs or cheese as an option, which I definitely want to try next time!

"Kyoto Cuisine Nomura Nishiki Store" Kyoto breakfast. I made a reservation just in case because I didn't want to wait in line in the morning. By the way, there is a main store on Karasuma Street, but reservations can only be made at this store. "◇◆Morning - Elegant Set Meal @ 1,350 yen (tax included)◆◇" Limited time until 11:00. Set includes multigrain rice (22 grains), miso soup, and 12 side dishes. Beautiful small dishes in lovely glass containers that look like they would be perfect for social media. The 12 delicious side dishes are carefully arranged. All of them have a gentle flavor and are easy on the stomach. From tofu to simmered eggs, salad, hijiki, simmered beans, pickled vegetables, and various other vegetables... all were tasty, but the arare-coated lotus root croquette and Nishikyo-yaki were particularly delicious. Finished by pouring yuba sauce over multigrain rice to make a mini yuba rice bowl and ate it all up!! It's vegetable-focused, so it's healthy, but surprisingly filling. The price is good for delicious side dishes. If you can drink in the morning, they also have a small drink set and a sake tasting set. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the staff were pleasant, so I recommend this place for a Kyoto breakfast. Thank you for the delicious meal!"

I used it for lunch on a holiday in January 2023. I was seated in the tatami room on the second floor. I had the "Gorgeous Meal" (1750 yen) which included a variety of 12 dishes, yuba rice bowl, shrimp soup, red and white pickled vegetables, cabbage, beans, glass noodles dish, white thing?, roast beef, tofu and egg, sesame-coated sweet potato, grilled fish marinated in miso, hard white mushrooms?, donuts, and fried shrimp. I couldn't eat the shrimp due to allergies. The yuba rice bowl had a yuzu fragrance and was served with mixed grain rice. The taste was average. While everything looked nice, there was nothing particularly outstanding in terms of flavor. It has a modern feel, I suppose. The fact that the price is low is very good though.

Kyoto's O-banzai for breakfast at Kyoto no Obanzai de Asagohan. Kyoto菜味の村♡Kyoto❤︎ City Hall Front♡my pick! - Masagozen♡ This is a place where you can enjoy a Kyoto-style O-banzai morning. I went to the Nishiki store! It's very popular, and I heard that it's always full in the morning and at lunch, so I made a reservation in advance. The first floor has only table seats, and the aisle is a bit narrow, so I chose the second floor seat (tatami room)! The second floor has tatami and table seats, both of which are more spacious and relaxing than the first floor, so I recommend the second floor seat if you make a reservation. I ordered the "Masagozen," a set of daily O-banzai with 12 Kyoto-produced dishes, rice, and soup! With 12 side dishes, it's luxurious and exciting. They all have an elegant Kyoto-style seasoning and were delicious, but my favorite was the yuba!! Not only the variety of side dishes but also each dishware was different, so it looked lovely!! They use a dish called "Tsugaru Biidoro"! It's so beautiful because they are particular about it. It was a delicious and luxurious satisfying morning! I chose the 6-dish set meal with rice and miso soup for 850 yen. There was also a 4-dish course available, but I wanted to try more dishes, so I went with the 6-dish course. The flavors seemed to be Kyoto-style, with a somewhat sweet taste. Each dish was small, but with 6 dishes, I ended up feeling full. It was a satisfying meal.

I visited on a Saturday morning. I arrived around 8:30 am and the restaurant was quite busy. After a short wait, I was seated at a table on the second floor. I ordered the breakfast set called "Asa-Gasane," which is only available in the morning. The set arrived in about 10 minutes in a wooden tray with 12 small dishes. Both the dishes and the presentation were colorful and vibrant. I appreciated that the hot dishes were served warm. You can choose between white rice or mixed grain rice, and I chose the mixed grain rice. It's a great way to enjoy a traditional Kyoto-style breakfast in the heart of Kyoto. Thank you for the meal.

I visited during breakfast time without a reservation. Reservations are recommended, but there was availability on this day so I was able to use it. It seems there are several branches of this restaurant. The menu for the Ochoko Mori is at the Nishikiya store. It was not on the morning menu at the Karasuma main store, so be careful. There were table seats on the first floor, and I think there were tatami and table seats on the second floor. I was seated in the tatami area. The menu had a different variety, some of which seemed suitable for both side dishes and snacks, so there were people enjoying them as snacks with drinks from the morning.

Mrs. Kami and I were on a leisurely Kyoto sightseeing trip on the third day. We were wandering around deciding what to have for breakfast when we stumbled upon a really great restaurant. As we entered, we were asked if we had a reservation, to which we replied no. After a short wait, we were able to get a table. Lucky us! We were served a variety of small dishes, each delicately prepared and delicious. The Yuba Donburi was especially amazing! We absolutely loved it and highly recommend it.
