This is a cafe located in a geisha district east of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. It is a place where local residents relax, not geared towards tourists. After enjoying the Tenjin-san festival and viewing cherry blossoms at Hirano Shrine, we returned to Kitano Tenmangu Shrine for shopping. We were tired and spent some time at this cafe. It has a retro atmosphere, which was perfect for a break for us middle-aged couple. Please note that this is a smoking-permitted establishment, so non-smokers and families with children should be aware.

I visited Kitano Tenmangu Shrine for a break and to avoid waiting in the rain for the event to start. It was convenient as I wasn't hungry, so I just had an iced coffee. It seemed like a relaxing spot for local elderly people, which made me feel warm inside.

I stopped by here when I went to the Bon dance at Kamishichiken. I thought the Bon dance was from 4pm, but it turned out to be from 5pm. I was hoping it would be cooler than Gion, but it was actually much hotter here, maybe because the streets were clean and the utility poles were underground. I couldn't bear being outside for another hour, so we jumped into this place near the Bon dance venue. The inside of the shop was pleasantly cool with strong air conditioning. There were a couple of other customers, including us and two camera enthusiasts. Since the owner was planning to participate in the Bon dance, she allowed us to bring in food purchased from the stalls outside. My husband ordered iced coffee, and I got a fruit juice. The fruit juice was made with bananas, frozen oranges, milk, and sugar blended together. It was sweet and nostalgic. Regular customers from the neighborhood started coming in, filling up both the counter and table seats. We felt a bit out of place, but we ended up staying until the Bon dance started because we didn't have the courage to go back outside in the heat. We had a good time chatting with a local customer in a yukata next to us, and it was nice to catch a glimpse of the daily life of the people in Kamishichiken. Thank you for the meal!
