Located inside Kyoto Aquarium, there is a place where you can buy snacks. It is near the seals. This time, there is a long! Nishiki-anago bread that is 40cm long. It is a long bread made to resemble the Nishiki-anago fish, and I decided to buy it as soon as I saw the sign! The bread itself is firm with a sweet filling wrapped in white stripes. It is long but has a light texture, so you can easily eat it in one go. It is said to be limited in quantity, so I am glad I was able to try it.

Amazing!!! This is the first dining spot you come across at Kyoto Aquarium. You can watch seals and sea lions swimming right in front of you. I happened to catch them during meal and playtime, and I enjoyed watching them a lot. The food and drinks are cute and themed, and some sets even come with takeaway items like stirrers and spoons. The axolotl mascot is too cute... I am very satisfied! I will definitely visit again.

I went on Saturday morning. Since it's inside Kyoto Aquarium, you can't just drop by. I bought an axolotl meat bun and a penguin rice ball. The meat bun is cheaper and more delicious with plenty of filling at the convenience store. The penguin rice ball was just a regular soy sauce rice ball. It wasn't worth buying.

I visited Kyoto Aquarium on a holiday in mid-September! It was crowded despite the pandemic, with more people than at the Kyoto Railway Museum! I barely made it in time to see the dolphin show starting at 11 am, and ended up standing. Kyoto Aquarium is small and perfect for children to enjoy. I tried the strawberry shaved ice with a dolphin spoon for 670 yen, which came with a cute spoon featuring a dolphin jumping in front of Kyoto's five-story pagoda – a great souvenir! It was a bit pricey at 600 yen, but worth it for the adorable spoon. If you want to enjoy shaved ice or soft serve ice cream at Kyoto Aquarium, head to the Kaiju Cafe. For more information about Kyoto Aquarium and the Kaiju Cafe, check out my blog post.

This is my first time at Kyoto Aquarium. I found two annual passes on Mercari at the end of last year for 4,200 yen (usually 4,100 yen each) and finally got to debut my annual pass today. The cafe is located in the area where seals and sea lions swim. It's a shop, but there are plenty of benches and tables in the area. It was crowded today as it's Sunday, but there were seats available for viewing. Today, I tried the Giant Salamander bun (red bean paste) and the Jellyfish bun (meat bun). They are just a variation of meat buns and red bean buns, but they are cute and tasted quite good. I enjoyed them while being comforted by the seals. Thank you for the meal!

Kyoto Aquarium's famous animal is the Japanese giant salamander! We decided to buy one Japanese giant salamander bun (400 yen including tax) at the "kaiju cafe" in front of the seal and sea lion exhibit and share it. My wife split it for us, but to my surprise, she cut it vertically! It was too gruesome to take a front-facing photo, so I refrained. The bun was soft and delicious. It was a tasty treat. Thank you for the meal.

Located in Kyoto, Kankeiji-cho, this café is inside the Kyoto Aquarium. After enjoying the aquarium, you can relax in the café and buy some souvenirs. They offer unique "sui-zoku pan" (aquatic creature-shaped bread) that is manufactured by FuruNi Kyoto and delivered fresh from the factory every morning. The bread is popular for its cute appearance and delicious taste. I bought all the different types of bread available at that time. The taste was average, but the appearance was definitely enjoyable. It could be a good snack for children.

The ice was cute. It was fun at the aquarium even though there was no smell.

I visited Kyoto Aquarium after a long time. I have an annual passport here thanks to Orix shareholder benefits, so I decided to stop by. It was quite crowded due to summer vacation. However, the line at the sea creature cafe was moving relatively quickly so I decided to stop by. I have tried the sea creature bread before and was considering a drink, but it was quite hot that day so I ended up getting the unusual amaou and vanilla soft serve. I was able to pay with my transportation IC card. I tried it right there and the amaou flavor was surprisingly good. I would definitely want to come here when it's less crowded.

First time at Kyoto Aquarium! I've passed by during lunchtime before, but never actually went in until one Saturday! It cost 2050 yen for adults, but I used a discount with my bus pass and paid 1850 yen! Honestly, it was better than I expected. There were so many giant salamanders, it was amazing. And the spotted seals are rumored to be great for photo opportunities! Right in front of the photo spot for the seals is Kaiju Cafe, where many items are named after penguins! I ordered the soft serve ice cream, which was very milky. The penguin area is also close by and offers great photo opportunities, which I appreciate.

In Kyoto Aquarium, there is a cafe called "Kaiju Cafe". It is the first takeout shop you will see when you enter the aquarium. There are many benches around the cafe where you can sit and relax. The showcase in front of the shop displays cute and colorful bread shaped like seals, jellyfish, crabs, turtles, and dolphins, which are sure to capture the hearts of children. I decided to buy a Penguin Monaka for 310 yen on this hot day in September. Inside the cute Penguin Monaka, there was not ice cream but whipped cream! I mistakenly thought the white whipped cream was ice cream because it was so hot that day. The display next to the bread showcase showed the Penguin Monaka as a sample. I mistakenly assumed the white whipped cream was ice cream and bought it without checking the details. Inside the cute Penguin Monaka, there was a large amount of sweet room temperature whipped cream, chilled red bean paste, and a small rice cake. It's a dessert made for those with a sweet tooth. By the way, I am not a fan of sweet foods! Definitely not!! I enjoyed eating the Penguin Monaka while being laughed at by those around me. There was another type of Monaka available with takoyaki inside, which I think I would prefer. Thank you for the meal.

-Kyoto Aquarium's ocean zone has a sea creature cafe, and the popular menu item is the "Suizoku Pan" (aquarium bread). During Silver Week, we visited Kyoto Aquarium. In the ocean zone, there was a cute bakery selling bread. My daughter wanted one, so we bought one. It was a turtle-shaped bread with a black shell. While watching the dolphin show, my daughter surprisingly ate almost all of it, which is rare for her as she usually doesn't finish sweet bread. Upon further investigation, I found out that the bakery, Sunny Side Bakery in Ukyo Ward, uses domestically produced flour and ferments the dough carefully from the night before, shaping each bread meticulously. I didn't buy one for myself because I didn't expect the bread to be that delicious! I thought it was just a visually appealing bread that didn't taste good. I'm sorry. Next time, I will definitely buy multiple pieces! I didn't try it myself, so I will refrain from giving a rating.

In Kyoto Aquarium, there is a food shop called "Kaiju Cafe" that sells a special item called "Kawazunbaarazu," which is a cute-looking bread called "Suizoku Pan." Even if you didn't come to the aquarium to eat bread, you will be enchanted by its appearance, especially the "Kameron Pan" shaped like a turtle. It's so cute that girls on a date will definitely exclaim, "So cute!" After buying it, you may feel reluctant to eat it right away. You might even play with it a bit, pretending it's swimming in the water. When you finally take a bite, you'll find that it tastes really good. It's made by the popular bakery Sunny Side Bakery. There are also other types of Suizoku Pan available, so be sure to try at least one.

I tried the famous "Suizoku Pan" at Kyoto Aquarium for the first time. There were various types of bread that seemed to delight children. This time, I purchased the "Giant Salamander (chocolate bread)" and "Turtle (matcha melon bread)". I also bought the limited edition "Giant Salamander Manju (sweet bun)". The bread costs 290 yen including tax, and the Giant Salamander Manju costs 330 yen including tax. The Giant Salamander bread was a bit dry, but the chocolate cream was delicious. The Turtle bread had a tasty matcha flavor, more suitable for adults. The Giant Salamander Manju had an amazingly fluffy texture, with sweet red bean paste inside. The appearance is so cute that you hesitate to take the first bite (laughs), but it would definitely be a delightful souvenir. Thank you for the meal!

2014.7 Revisited, it was so hot that I reached for shaved ice. I added soft serve for an extra 200 yen. Ended up spending over 500 yen, quite a price. The combination of vanilla ice cream and refreshing lemon shaved ice is perfect for cooling off. There's actually quite little "ice" compared to a normal shaved ice, so it might be a bit of a letdown... but it's delicious. Original (2014.3) A takeout shop in the marine zone of Kyoto Aquarium. This is the first shop you encounter after entering. Their specialty is fish-shaped "souvenir bread"... I've never bought it though, it's expensive (around 280 yen). On this day, it was the birthday event for the otter "Hiina". In celebration of Hinamatsuri, they were giving away arare snacks as part of the "Hiina Festival". If you say "Hiina Festival" at the shop, they will give it to you. Even though my child tried to say it, they muttered shyly. But the kind staff gave it to us anyway. Unfortunately, we couldn't find Hiina who was probably sleeping.

I went to the Kyoto Aquarium and found a unique character bread called "Suizoku Pan" during my pre-visit check. The bakery, known as Kajyu Cafe, is located in the marine mammal floor of Umekoji Park's Kyoto Aquarium, where you can buy the bread. At first, I passed by thinking I could buy it later since it was along the route, but ended up having to exit and re-enter to purchase it. The marine mammal floor features a large tube display with spotted seals inside, which made me decide to buy the bread. Each bread costs 290 yen, which is a bit pricey for bread. It's also rare to see that Sunny Side Bakery is the one making these character breads. I bought the jellyfish and turtle (matcha) breads and tried them at home. The appearance of the bread is very cute and well-crafted. The turtle bread was a bit dry, with a subtle sweetness and matcha fragrance. The jellyfish bread, on the other hand, was moist with chunks of white chocolate inside, which was surprising. The generous amount of filling and size of the bread seemed to be following the trend. Overall, I recommend Kyoto Aquarium as a fun place to visit, especially the dolphin stadium with educational shows. The aquarium's souvenirs, like the character breads, are interesting and tasty, making them a good choice for children. In the end, I ended up buying an axolotl plushie (LL size, 2880 yen) as well, so be careful not to get carried away with shopping.
