I messed up the opening hours of the shop I was aiming for, so I revisited this place where I unexpectedly encountered temporary closure during my last trip. This time, there were no other customers. I heard that dining out has become even more competitive recently, so I wonder if that has had an impact. I also noticed other shops nearby that caught my interest. It's a bit of a hidden location, so maybe not many tourists come during the off-season. I decided to go for the chef's choice course this time, wanting to be satisfied once again. I intended to take photos this time, but realized I missed capturing one dish (oops). The food was delicious as always. The stories the owner shared about Kyoto people and the typhoon disaster were interesting. It's still my favorite place, and I definitely want to come back again.

This is a shop located on a side street just a short walk from Shijo-Karasuma. There is a counter and private rooms in the back. We ordered a la carte and all the dishes were delicious. They also offer a drink-all-you-can course, which is very reasonable. The male part-time staff was working hard and I had a good impression of him. Thank you for the wonderful meal! I will definitely use this place again (^o^)

Ordered the 5500 yen all-you-can-drink option. Started with an assorted plate of side dishes. Couldn't take photos of the rest. There was a private room that fit exactly 4 people, which is rare these days. The place allows smoking, which is uncommon. The course didn't include any rice dishes, so it might feel lacking for non-drinkers. Surprisingly, the all-you-can-drink option didn't include highballs.

It's been a while since my last visit. Whenever I come to Kyoto, I always go to Rokkon. You can enjoy reasonably priced Kyoto-style dishes here. First, I recommend the assorted obanzai (large). You can try various types of obanzai dishes. The cherry sea bream sashimi is delicious, especially when slightly seared! Other dishes like spring vegetable tempura are also very tasty. The bamboo shoot rice cooked in a clay pot as the final course was incredibly delicious!

I used it during my trip to Kyoto. I ordered the omakase course and added my favorite shirako. The assortment of obanzai dishes was enjoyable with new ingredients to try. The lineup was mainly fish-based and all delicious. There are many wonderful restaurants in Kyoto, but this was a lovely place that I would like to visit again when I return to Kyoto.

We arrived after 7 pm and were able to enter without waiting. There were 4 people from the company dining together. We ate a lot of different dishes, all of which were delicious. We also drank a bit too much. Thank you for the meal.

It truly feels like a Kyoto restaurant - the flavors are heartwarming and impressive. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the personality of the head chef are wonderful! I will definitely visit again. Thank you very much. I have added another great memory of Kyoto.

It's quite delicious! The best. Hanawasabi, spring saba, obanzai, everything I ate was delicious! Kyoto is the best after all.

Enjoy Kyoto-style home-cooked dishes in a relaxed atmosphere, just like at your grandma's house in the countryside. The cozy second-floor seating allows for a comfortable dining experience. Plus, it's conveniently located near the train station. 🍂

I used it for a dinner party on a regular night. I heard that it is difficult to make a reservation, but maybe because it was Monday, there weren't many customers. There were plenty of dishes and all of them were delicious.

Note: There are private rooms where you can have a peaceful meal. The counter is also suitable for solo diners. Smoking is allowed. They are willing to accommodate children and foreigners with some discussion. The head chef has a unique personality.

The restaurant is great. The flavors are close to kaiseki cuisine and the prices are reasonable. The menu has a unique twist.

I felt like the atmosphere didn't quite match, but I was approached on my way out and got confused. The staff seemed focused on cooking, and there was no explanation for the side dishes, which gave off a bit of a cold impression. Maybe I'll understand better if I go there more often. The side dishes with pumpkin and tofu were delicious. The sashimi was okay. The tender beef tongue stew takes time to cook, but the beef tongue is thick and the Japanese-style beef stew is interesting. The set menu for 2500 yen is reasonably priced. Overall, it's worth a try.
