Kyoto is near the World Heritage Site Nijo Castle. This restaurant is located on a slightly hidden street. It's nice that the cheers beer is Heartland. This time, the course has already been ordered, and delicious dishes are served one after another. The sashimi is small in quantity but delicious. The simmered dishes are also elaborate. The final dish of egg over rice is made with meringue, showing the owner's commitment to quality.

I visited the restaurant "喜Bun上Jo" in Kyoto, feeling great. It is a popular creative cuisine restaurant in the Kyoto area, and I heard rumors of its delicious taste. A friend recommended it to me, so I made a reservation. I decided to try the Heian course, and it was perfect timing as we visited after enjoying the light-up at Nijo Castle. The restaurant is housed in a renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse. It was a bit hard to find, but we spotted it by the lanterns outside. The master chef was cooking alone, but the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. There were many tourists visiting Kyoto, as indicated by the French instructions in the restroom. The course included Kyoto yuba rolls, grilled fish with Nishiki pickles, crispy deep-fried kinmedai with lotus root, arare ankake, bamboo shoot rice, delicious miso soup, pickles, homemade clear soup, and a tasty mousse dessert.

Visited around 12:00 on a holiday. There were about 2 groups of customers before me. I ordered a two-tiered furoshiki lantern bento box for 2000 yen. The first tier included homemade seasoned rice, inari sushi, and pickles. The second tier included simmered winter melon, soybean simmered in soy sauce, shrimp and kelp cooked rice, ganmo (deep-fried tofu), grilled chicken, fried salmon, fried shrimp, fresh wheat gluten dumplings, miso soup, warabi mochi, and black tea. The restaurant has a traditional Kyoto-style atmosphere with sunken kotatsu-style seating and a courtyard. The flavors are refined and would appeal to tourists. It's a hidden gem where tourists can take a break when they are tired from sightseeing.

During the tourist season, I tried dining in a different area and found that everything I ordered was delicious. The atmosphere was very Kyoto-like. The sashimi was tasty, and I also remember enjoying the katsu dish. The dashi-yaki was both enjoyable to watch being prepared and disappeared quickly because it was so delicious. It's a bit away from the hotel area, so it might be a hidden gem.

It was a nice atmosphere in a traditional Kyoto townhouse. The food was Kyoto cuisine, but the taste was average. It was perfect for a girls' gathering with private rooms where we could chat and have fun. It was just right for a kimono lunch.

The food was incredibly delicious, the sake tasting set was delicious and affordable! The inner garden was beautiful and I had a very satisfying evening experiencing the essence of Kyoto.

An izakaya located a 2-minute walk from Nijo Castle Station on the municipal subway. I walked from a friend's house. Fortunately, they were open during the Bon holidays. When I entered the restaurant from the quaint entrance, there were spacious tatami rooms, sunken kotatsu seats, and counter seats. I was seated at the edge of the sunken kotatsu seats. There was a small garden, giving it a truly Kyoto-like atmosphere. I ordered a chilled draft sake. The appetizers arrived quickly, and the mini tomatoes stood out for their deliciousness. They were marinated after peeling the tomato skin, and the vinegar and salt balance was superb. I had to try the famous dishes in Kyoto, such as the grilled conger eel and yuba, and I also tried the special dish called "dashi-yaki." It was a unique dish where the ingredients for a rolled omelet were cooked in a clay pot. For dessert, I ordered garlic rice and renkon (lotus root) burgers. The prices for the dishes were reasonable, and everything was delicious. It seemed like a good restaurant run by a husband and wife, with excellent service and no shortcomings. I thought it was a great place.

After arriving in Kyoto and visiting the Honno-ji Temple ruins, we came to this restaurant. We waited about 10 minutes before being seated. It was lunchtime, so the kaiseki bento box we wanted had a wait of about an hour, so we decided to order other lunch options. I had the seafood bowl with wasabi soy sauce, and my wife had the grilled fish set meal (salmon with Saikyo miso on that day). Our food arrived in about 10 minutes. First, I tried the seafood bowl. It had amberjack, firefly squid, fish roe, seaweed, and green onions, all delicious with the refreshing wasabi soy sauce. Then, I tried a bite of my wife's grilled fish set meal. It was absolutely delicious, beyond any complaints. The seafood bowl was tasty too, but I almost regretted not ordering this one because it was so delicious. I love Saikyo miso grilled fish, and this one was cooked perfectly with moist flesh and crispy skin. It was a visually pleasing and delicious set meal. If you want to try the bento box, I recommend making a reservation in advance. However, for me, the grilled fish set meal is the way to go next time. I'm looking forward to trying the next grilled fish! It was incredibly delicious. I will definitely come back to have the grilled fish set meal again. Thank you for the meal.

I was walking, thinking of having soba for lunch, but the place I wanted to go was unexpectedly closed for the day. I was wondering what to do when I found another restaurant while walking. It was a lovely place, like entering a mansion. I took off my shoes, went inside, and had lunch at a table with a view of the inner garden. Traditional Japanese houses are so charming. I couldn't decide on the menu, but I chose a seafood bowl. My friend opted for a bento box. The bento box was neatly wrapped in a cloth, which made it exciting. My seafood bowl was unique, with a lot of marinated ingredients. I could choose between wasabi soy sauce and yukke sauce for seasoning, and I chose the former. It was delicious. After the meal, we were served a small dessert and red tea. It was a nice restaurant experience.

Today, I would like to introduce a restaurant review from when I was suddenly invited to have a meal with my senior colleague. We decided to go to a place nearby that my senior colleague has been visiting with her family recently, called "喜bun上jo 二条城本店". When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with smiles, and the interior had a calm atmosphere, like a renovated machiya-style izakaya. We had reserved a quiet place, so we were led to a spacious private room at the back with a view of a garden with a well, which made me feel a bit embarrassed even though there was no need for such formality. The chef seemed to have worked at a restaurant in Gion, and the menu showed that they put effort into creating original dishes. The recommended dishes here include "Dashi-yaki" for 680 yen, which is a dish made with Yoshino kudzu sauce and half-cooked eggs, and the "Kyoto Fresh Spring Rolls" for 900 yen. The "Yuba Pizza" for 800 yen and "Mebaru (rockfish) simmered dish" for 1,000 yen were also delicious. The "Juicy Pork Loin Karaage" for 650 yen, "Daikon and Korean Seaweed Mentaiko Salad" for 750 yen, and "Cold Handa Somen" for 800 yen were enjoyable as well. The staff at the restaurant were energetic and had a cheerful attitude, but the lady who seemed to be the landlady came to greet us and left a strong impression with her elegance. However, the location of the restaurant and the slightly slow service, as well as the overall bold flavors of the dishes, were a bit disappointing. Despite this, my senior colleague will probably visit again. The total cost for two people this time was 9,940 yen. Located at 237 Omodemachi, Kuromon Street, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. Phone: 075-468-1777. Open from 11:30 to 14:00 and from 17:30 to 23:00, closed on Tuesdays.

This is my second time posting, and it's a bit of a hard-to-find place. We had a private booking this time, so the menu was already decided. Everything that came out was quite delicious, with no disappointments. In particular, the meat and fresh firefly squid sashimi were impressive today. Since it was a private booking, the number of staff seemed to be just right, and there was no sense of slow service as mentioned in other comments. Overall, it's a highly recommended restaurant from the atmosphere to the food.

There was a company drinking party that I attended for the first time. It seems like they have been doing this for about 4 years already. That day, there weren't many customers, so we had the place to ourselves. The menu included appetizers, sashimi, grilled fish (sweetfish), simmered dish, rice, and dessert, all for around 5000 yen with all-you-can-drink option. Overall, the food was a bit on the heavy side, but since it was a drinking party, I didn't mind much as long as I had beer. The sweetfish and simmered dish were not that great, but the rice was pretty delicious. Not amazing, but overall it was decent. For 5000 yen with all-you-can-drink, I can't complain. I later found out that their specialty menu is the dashi-yaki, which unfortunately we didn't get to try. This place can accommodate a good number of people, so it would be good for gatherings of around 20 people. The small garden is really lovely. After leaving there, we all went to a bar, but then everyone suddenly said they were hungry, so we ended up going to eat okonomiyaki. I wasn't even hungry, but maybe we ate too early or the portion was small, I'm not sure. I think this course might be a bit small for the average male. Personally, I'm not sure if I would come back, but if you're looking for a budget-friendly option for a party at around 5000 yen per person, this place could be considered.

A friend took me to this restaurant. We had a meal on the second floor at a table. The building had more of an old traditional house feel rather than a quaint townhouse. You could see a lot of aluminum sashes. The food came in a course with various dishes. From what I remember, the specialty dish was a dashi-yaki, where you cook a mixture in a small pot with solid fuel, then mix in a yellow sauce with shrimp and leeks. The seasoning was a bit too sweet and the leeks overpowered the dashi flavor. It would have been better with some trefoil. The sashimi was dry on the surface and not very tasty. Maybe it was prepared in advance for the group. The grilled dish was black sea bream with a lot of tartar sauce, which was unnecessary. It would have been better if the sauce was served on the side. The food seemed to focus too much on being creative and ended up limiting the customers' preferences. The all-you-can-drink options were limited to bottled beer, glass wine, shochu (both barley and sweet potato), chu-hai, and soft drinks. The garden was beautiful, but it was a shame that you had to pass through the first floor tatami room to get to the restroom.

I have visited this restaurant a few times for business gatherings with our clients. Although it's a bit hard to find, the atmosphere and food at the restaurant are excellent, and I always wish I could visit during regular business hours. However, it's a bit far from my usual area of activity, so I can't visit often. Thank you for the delicious courses every time.
