大哉心乎
While driving on National Route 9 in Kameoka City, I came across a new salt ramen specialty shop called "Nami no Hana." I remembered that it used to be a ramen shop called Kibokken, but as a salt ramen lover, I was excited to try this new place. On my way back from work in late July, I decided to stop by around 11:30 am. There were a few customers already there, and the shop had several box seats with a decent seating capacity. Looking at the menu, they mainly offered salt ramen, but also had soy sauce ramen and tsukemen. The set menu was appealing, with options like gyoza, karaage, fried rice, and chashu bowl. During lunchtime, white rice was complimentary (with free extra serving). I decided to order the "Natural Salt Ramen" for 760 yen and a half fried rice for 200 yen (excluding tax). The salt ramen had a slightly transparent brownish soup with fragrant burnt leeks floating on top. It looked oily and had a glossy appearance. When I took a sip, I realized that the soup was very similar to the one from Shio Monja. After a quick search on my phone, I confirmed that "Nami no Hana" was indeed a shop under the Shio Monja brand. While the toppings and some services were different from Shio Monja, the strong salty umami flavor of the soup was unmistakably Shio Monja. The flat thin noodles were familiar with a firm texture. The toppings included a large slice of chashu, menma, and shredded green onions. The chashu was thinly sliced pork belly cooked in a light seasoning, which enhanced its flavor when eaten with the noodles. The menma was thick and soft, providing a satisfying chew. The half fried rice had a rich salty flavor, likely using the salt sauce from the ramen. It was oily but well-dried at high heat, making it very delicious. It was also quite generous in portion, comparable to about 1.5 times the size of Gyoza no Ohsho's standard fried rice. Overall, unexpectedly stepping into a Shio Monja affiliated shop, I found subtle differences that added uniqueness and showcased their high quality. This discovery added to my excitement for future visits to Kameoka City. Thank you for the delicious meal.
