In the midst of a ramen battleground, there is a cozy cafe that stands out. On a Sunday afternoon, after buying books at Keibunsha, I found myself in the bustling area of Ichijoji. The ramen shops all around made me crave a bowl as well. However, being a chicken when it comes to dining alone, I debated whether to go to Keibunsha and then buy groceries at the organic supermarket. As I left the supermarket, I noticed a cafe-like shop that caught my eye. Nowadays, there are cafes that look like beauty salons until you open the door, so some research is necessary. Feeling reassured, I entered the cafe, run by a couple, and the soft ambiance was inviting. I ordered Vietnamese fried rice and coffee, which were served quite quickly. The fried rice had a good portion size, was slightly spicy but gentle, and was a new experience for me. It was delicious! The coffee after the meal was to my liking, and I enjoyed the solitude of being alone. It was my first time at this cafe, and although I don't often explore new places, I always find something new when I do. But I have a feeling that on my way back from Keibunsha, my feet might just lead me back here again. It was delicious. Thank you very much.

I came to Ichijoji. It's Sunday at 2pm, and there are still lines at many ramen shops. The parking lots in this area range from 300 yen for 30 minutes to 200 yen for 60 minutes, with differences in prices depending on the location and proximity to the shops. Since there is a 400 yen difference for 60 minutes, it's recommended to have a couple of parking lots in mind before heading there by car. The ramen shop I plan to eat at still has a line, so I'll take a break at a nearby cafe. Inside, there is a counter and cashier on the left, two two-seater tables on the right, and a large table further back. The cafe has a quiet atmosphere with dim lighting and mostly wooden furniture. I enjoyed the Guatemala coffee (450 yen) for its bitterness and richness. They only serve coffee, but they also have lunch and dessert menus. I think it's a good cafe to relax and read a book while enjoying your coffee.

Natural food supermarket on Higashi-dori Street, its name is Help! Whenever I come out to the city, I almost always stop by here to buy ingredients. Today, I bought rice, seasonings, and delicious seafood. The sashimi here is very delicious (*^^*). It was a hot day, so I took a break at this place right across the street. I've been curious about the cute pot sign for a while. I usually rush to Help in the evening to buy groceries and then have to make dinner. But today, I decided to take a break a little early. Plus, there was still some time left on the parking meter at the supermarket, so I decided to have tea before heading home. I had ginger milk tea with syrup on the side and walnut and banana cake. The crunchy walnuts and moist banana go well together. I relaxed by myself at the spacious table at the back of the shop. I went over the parking time by a little bit, so I had to pay an extra 100 yen for parking. Now, I feel energized! Let's cross the mountain pass and head home.

The pumpkin pudding was delicious. The restaurant had a calm atmosphere where I could relax. I couldn't resist and ended up taking a bite.

In the area of Sakyo Ward in Kyoto, it is suitable for when you want a quiet break. You can enjoy a leisurely coffee or tea. The calming space has wooden tables and chairs. The cakes are delicious, but they also serve meals. Highly recommended.

Delicious and healthy dishes. Seems very useful for everyday use. It's unique in the highly competitive ramen district. I would like to come back again.

Cake and coffee set for 700 yen! The coffee had a subtle sweetness, and the cake was delicious with seasonal Western pears. It was Halloween, so they gave us cookies as a service, and the service was incredibly kind! I would love to go back again.

Ichijo-ji Ramen Street, as the name suggests, has a lot of ramen shops! It's always packed with customers, especially since it's a student town. Among them, there is a precious cafe (coffee shop) that is perfect for a quick break. In my case, I was waiting for my ramen at "Gokkei" after receiving a ticket. They have a good variety of drinks. Oh! They even offer a pot service for tea. Seeking that value... even in this hot season! Hot!!! Earl Grey Tea for 450 yen (tax included). It has the scent of bergamot as written in the description. I looked it up online, it's a citrus fruit. Hmm, so this is bergamot. It's a word I'll probably forget soon, but I'll try my best to remember just this word in my free time. I hope this seemingly pointless task will be useful somewhere someday. The interior of the cafe is quite cool due to the air conditioning, so even though I was initially hot from the inside... I soon felt cool. It was nice to slowly cool down with a warm drink and not chill my body too much. Western music was playing in the background, and time passed slowly. It was a cozy cafe with a nice atmosphere. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Eating two bowls of ramen in a row is a bit much... Yeah. I definitely need a break. So, I went to a quiet place separate from the lively ramen district on the holiday. It's such a calming atmosphere. I ordered the strongest coffee of the month, something like "Great? Grenade? Granada?" I don't remember the exact name. The new apprentice recommended "espresso." Can you even drink that?! In the end, I ended up ordering something sweet and milky. It was nice to relax in the quiet and peaceful environment. That's all for now!

Kisarado at Ichijoji Temple. A relaxing pendulum clock and wooden church chairs, with hooks on the walls, make you feel right at home. The gallery-like walls allow for a variety of art to be enjoyed. I chose the European blend on this day. The coffee beans are freshly ground and dripped after ordering. The white cups with the shop logo are quite charming. It seems like a space designed for quiet moments. By putting in that extra effort to blend into the environment, this Kyoto-style shop provides a cozy and personal space to spend some peaceful time.

I visited this restaurant for lunch on my day off after a few years. I walked west from Ichijoji Station and passed Keibunsha, then headed north on Higashioji Street. It's located just south of Ichijoji Boogie. I was torn between going to "Tsubame" but ended up choosing this place because the seating arrangement is more suitable for solo diners. Nowadays, there are more cafes around, but this place was a pioneer in offering healthy meals in the ramen-filled neighborhood of Ichijoji. I ordered lunch with coffee included. It was tsukune yakitori + cold tofu + potato salad + miso soup for 1,050 yen including tax. It might be a bit lacking in volume for men, but the main dish was freshly made and the rice portion was generous and tasty. As I mentioned at the beginning, the seating arrangement and atmosphere here are perfect for solo cafe-goers. It's a nice place to read a book purchased from Keibunsha. I believe the coffee served here is fair trade from Green Eyes in Fushimi if it hasn't changed. The coffee here is refreshing and really delicious after a meal. The staff generally leave you alone, but it's not because they're unfriendly, just the right amount of distance. They serve water in small pitchers, so you don't have to ask for refills constantly, which is nice. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the note saying not to use laptops, but it seemed to be okay for regular customers. I'm not a fan of that kind of rule. Ichijoji is famous for its ramen, but I recommend the lunch here. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I entered the line at a nearby ramen shop to kill time. The lunch menu looked delicious, but unfortunately, I was just there to pass the time. So I ordered a beer! To my surprise, it came in a can... disappointing... too bad... I wish it was at least in a bottle. Maybe it's because it's a cafe, but still... The shop is cute and if it was closer, I might become a regular. It's nice to have magazines available too. I guess in a cafe, you have to order coffee after all.

Around 2 o'clock, I used a small Cafe&Gallery located along Higashioji Street. It is said that students from the art university often use it for art exhibitions. The entrance is narrow, but the interior is deep. There are two tables for two near the entrance, three counter seats facing the wall in the back, and a large table seat.
Coffee costs 350 yen. The cake set includes a 450 yen cake and any drink for 150 yen off. I ordered a chocolate cake and Kizarado blend. The cake was quite firm, with no melting sensation and a somewhat rough texture. The coffee is refreshing and easy to drink, but it has a slightly distinctive aroma and taste. They serve GREEN EYES beans from a roaster, and they also have minor beans from Laos.
They offer a substantial fried rice dish, have long opening hours, and are affordable. It can also be used as a gallery. It seems like a convenient place for students.

I had always wanted to visit this place but wasn't sure where it was located. However, I finally got the chance to visit when I was taken there for lunch. The restaurant is tucked away in a crowded area with a simple exterior. I ordered today's special which included a main dish, two side dishes, pickles, rice, and miso soup. The food was simple, gentle in flavor, and seemed easy on the stomach. Inside the restaurant, there were paintings by an artist on display, giving it a nice touch. Since I went for lunch this time, I would like to come back for a cafe time next.

A cozy space that makes you want to open a book, it might be a place where time seems to stand still, similar to a bookmark. If that's the case, the time spent here and the conversations with you could be like pages, paragraphs, or chapters written in today's story. The walls serve as small exhibition spaces, and when our eyes meet, the feeling is accompanied by the scent of coffee, food, breath, or a blink. We often tend to overlook the happiness found in simple things, like on this tiny spoon or between you and me. Pumpkin pudding brings a sense of bliss when it touches your lips, like a golden spoon carrying happiness. It's a feeling of excitement and imagination, the essence of what's written here. Enjoy a creamy caramel dessert made from hearty pumpkin, perfect for the cold winter in Kyoto. Paired with coffee, it's a comforting treat that gently wraps the night in a sweet aftertaste. On August 16, 2011, there were only 30 minutes left until the lighting of the Gozan no Okuribi fires. People passing by on the street were hurrying towards the Kamogawa River. After a day of walking around, feeling hungry, we decided to go to Cafe Kisarado near Keibunsha Ichijoji store. The cafe had a simple style, and we quickly ordered the "Today's Meal for 800 yen." We ate in a rush, so we couldn't savor the food properly, but the main salmon dish had a gentle seasoning and the sweetness of the vegetables was noticeable, which I enjoyed. We were told by the kind lady running the cafe that we should take our time next time. I look forward to ordering some sweet treats and relaxing leisurely on my next visit.

"I couldn't help but think, 'Wait, isn't a cafe a customer service job?' It felt like a unique experience, with a shy and reserved atmosphere. However, the ambiance was very pleasant, and the taste of the food and the atmosphere inside the cafe were gentle and calm. The couple running the place worked together seamlessly, and it was heartwarming to watch them. The lunch that day was a fish dish, and it was incredibly delicious. The seasoning and texture of the fish were just the way I like it, and it paired well with the other vegetables. I really enjoy the food here. I would love to visit again if I have the chance."
