I couldn't find the matcha fondue I was looking for on the menu, so I ended up getting the hojicha kakigori set for 1700 yen. It's quite large, although it may not be clear in the photos. The kakigori is made by shaving frozen hojicha. It's not the fluffy kind, but more of a crunchy texture. It's quite heavy. It comes with red bean paste, shiratama (mochi balls), chestnuts, cream (foam?), hojicha ice cream, and various toppings, making it visually appealing. However, unfortunately, there was barely any hojicha aroma. The red bean paste, chestnuts, and shiratama all seemed like store-bought items, lacking the quality of a traditional Japanese sweets shop. The atmosphere of the shop was nice, with a beautiful garden, but it was slightly different from what was shown in the photos.

I went for a food walk at Nishiki Market for the first time! After trying various foods, I decided to go to Nishikiiwa to have dessert. I had seen the warabi mochi on TikTok and Instagram and knew I had to go there. I originally planned to get takeout, but I wanted to relax and sit down, so I went inside the store. They didn't have the menu with ice cream topped with warabi mochi for dine-in, so I ordered a parfait and a matcha latte instead. The matcha latte was not as sweet as I had imagined, it had a true matcha flavor. The whipped cream on top was slightly sweet, which balanced the drink perfectly and made it delicious. The parfait had matcha jelly, chestnuts, and warabi mochi in it, and it was delicious. I got to try everything I wanted to eat and I was satisfied!

I ordered matcha soft serve ice cream. The rich matcha flavor was delicious! I was happy to see that the soft serve went all the way to the bottom of the cone! There were a few seats available for dining in, and I was able to find a seat at a good time, but it was quite crowded.

Best before date 1 minute Taiyaki: March 2023, around 4:00 pm visit (holiday) Order and receive a number tag. There are always about 6 people in line to order. It takes about 7 minutes to be ready. You can sit inside and eat, but only one person can sit per order. ☑︎ Red bean butter ¥390 ☑︎ Custard ¥350 The Taiyaki looks cute and round! It is filled with plenty of ingredients, and when you take a bite, it overflows. Be careful if you order with butter, as it may flow out. It can get sticky, so make sure to grab a hand towel beforehand. The dough is fluffy and the inside is deliciously gooey. I thought it was the most delicious Taiyaki I've ever had in the Taiyaki world!

・This is a dessert shop in Nishiki Market in Kyoto. I visited here specifically for the matcha fondue mentioned in the Kyoto travel guidebook. ・The matcha fondue was rich and delicious, but it tasted more like chocolate than matcha. The mochi, sesame dumplings, and nama-fu were all tasty. However, it was not particularly outstanding, I didn't feel a great sense of excitement. ・The customer service from the staff may not be great. I arrived about 10 minutes after the shop opened at 11 am, and when I asked if I could dine in, I was told to look at the menu displayed over there, which was a bit off-putting.

I tried a mixed soft serve ice cream with rich matcha and hojicha flavors while strolling around. Inside the cup, there was a small piece of matcha baby castella. The combination of slightly warm castella and cold soft serve was delicious. The performance of baking in front of the store was also entertaining.

You can enjoy matcha dumplings and soft serve ice cream here! SnowMan visited this place for a shoot before their major debut! I tried the matcha pop, which was a unique combination that I found enjoyable. I thought the soft serve would only be on top, but they also included it beneath the popcorn. It was a pleasant surprise!

I went with my partner. My partner loves hojicha, and since it was just the right season for shaved ice, we decided to share a hojicha shaved ice. At first, I thought we might each need our own, but after eating around, one was enough! We ordered the hojicha shaved ice. It had hojicha syrup over the ice, hojicha ice cream, whipped cream, rice cake, sweet red bean paste, and chestnuts on top. The sweetness was mild and very easy to eat. There were so many other menu options, so I definitely want to come back again!

Kimon Market is a sophisticated tea house with a charming garden. It feels like being at grandma and grandpa's house, very nostalgic and soothing. The Hojicha Shaved Ice for 1100 yen is large and perfect for a hot day, topped with shiratama, chestnut, and ice cream. The Matcha and Dumplings Set for 1000 yen includes two easy-to-eat dumplings and delicious matcha. It's a quiet and relaxing spot tucked away in the back. I felt healed and enjoyed the delicious treats. Thank you for the meal.

This is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Nishiki Market, Kyoto. They offer tea-flavored popcorn, parfaits, and more. I had a matcha soft serve for 400 yen to cool off. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it had a good balance of bitterness, sweetness, and aroma, and was delicious. In mid-June, Nishiki Market was quite crowded with people before the intense heat and with COVID-19 situation calming down. In the afternoon, there were times when the aisles were crowded with people.

Matcha fondue dango, 2 pieces for 500 yen. Each piece comes with 5 small mochi balls, covered in matcha chocolate. The matcha fondue is not too sweet, just right. The warm and chewy dango is delicious!

■ Fondue Dumplings Matcha ¥250 Stopped by after watching a special screening at Minami-za with 1 person for takeout ♡ SnowMan ate the fondue dumplings ✿ The shop was playing the song that was playing at that time on the TV! As a SnowMan fan, I wanted to visit this shop! ♡ The matcha was pleasantly bitter, and the dumplings were chewy! They were easy to eat with their cute size, and I devoured them in no time♪ I want to go on a food tour in Kyoto~ ⸜( ˙꒳˙ )⸝

I successfully composed a poem! ♪ Five siblings of dumplings, dumplings! Fondue dumplings with a single leaf of brocade, how fancy! Strolling around Kyoto's Nishiki Market. Recently, unique gourmet foods like shrimp tempura skewers have been gaining popularity. Amidst this, I stumbled upon a truly Kyoto-style dessert. A matcha version of mitarashi dango called Fondue Dango. Without hesitation, I decided to try it out. - Fondue Dango (Matcha) 250 yen including tax - Mitarashi Dango 200 yen including tax The Fondue Dango also comes in hojicha flavor in addition to matcha. The sauce combines the rich bitterness of matcha with a milky taste. It's like a matcha latte and very easy to eat. They provide plenty of sauce, so you can scoop up any leftovers on the tray and enjoy. The Mitarashi Dango is also delicious as expected. The dumplings don't have a crispy exterior. You can dispose of the trash in the bin outside the store after finishing your meal, so it's better not to leave the shop. It was a delicious meal.

I came here for a break at Nishiki Market to find some matcha sweets. I've heard of this place before and it seemed popular, but when I arrived during the late lunch hour, it was empty. They seem to have a partnership with a seafood restaurant as they offer various seafood bowls. The prices are a bit unclear, but generally over 2000 yen. The matcha sweets are around 1000 yen. The service was not particularly polite. The garden has a Kyoto vibe, but even though there were no other customers, I was not allowed to sit there. The taste was decent, but nothing exceptional considering the prices. They don't accept credit cards, which was not mentioned beforehand. It left a bad impression when they acted like it was common knowledge. It may have been just a one-time thing, but if they improve on these aspects, I think it's not a bad place.

The restaurant inside Nishiki Market was crowded with people, and it looked small and dirty compared to the photos. The seating area that looked like a garden in the photos had only one table, making it hard to access. I tried the matcha shaved ice, but the ice was too big and hard to eat. The portion was also large, served in a bowl, and I couldn't finish it all as my body got too cold. The toppings didn't complement the shaved ice well and were disappointing. The price was also high.

I visited Nishiki Market and decided to check out Nishikihitoha, a place I had been eyeing on Instagram. The lighting inside was dim, creating a very calming atmosphere. It was a quiet and relaxing experience as there were only two other groups besides us on this weekday evening. We ordered the matcha fondue (1500 yen) and my friend got the hojicha fondue (1500 yen). Both were rich and creamy, with a strong tea flavor that wasn't too sweet. We enjoyed every last bite! If you're in Nishiki Market, I highly recommend checking out this place!

We walked around the bustling Nishiki Market and my eldest son got thirsty, so we stopped by Nishikiiwa, a tea house that also sells juice made with a juicer. The first floor sells tea and tea-related sweets, while the second floor is a cafe. My son had the strawberry milk juice from the juicer, and I bought the freshly grilled mitarashi dango. The dango was tasty, but not as good as the one I had in Shiga earlier. The strawberry milk juice was quite watery and lacked sweetness. Overall, it was a bit disappointing, but we were at a tea-focused shop, so it may not be a fair assessment. Thank you for the meal. #NishikiMarket #Nishikiiwa #Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City #NishikiMarketShoppingStreet #MitarashiDango #StrawberryMilkJuice #Tea #Gaso #RamenLoverGaso #Kyoto #Gourmet

Located in Kyoto's Nishiki Market. I was drawn in by the visual of sweets and snacks packed in a tiered box. I was torn between the matcha and hojicha fondue options, but since I had plans to indulge in matcha sweets later, I chose hojicha. My partner, a matcha enthusiast, chose matcha without hesitation. We exchanged and tried each other's fondue, which had a rich flavor as if the tea was dipped directly. The hojicha I ordered also had a fragrant aroma that spread throughout my mouth. There was some sauce left at the end, but even the sauce alone was delicious (laughs). When it was brought to us, it may have seemed like a small amount, but it left us incredibly full. However, afterwards, we bought and ate mitarashi dango at the same store. At that time, the staff brought us wet wipes, which was very helpful. Thank you very much.

I visited the tea shop Nishikichaya Kinichiba in Kyoto's Nishiki Market. While admiring the elegant red table and miniature garden in the back parlor, I leisurely enjoyed delicious matcha fondue and hojicha fondue. On a holiday, I visited Nishiki Market with a friend. Craving something sweet, I suddenly felt like having matcha fondue again, so we stopped by here. It's a hidden gem where you can almost always get matcha fondue without waiting in line, and this time, despite it being a holiday tea time, we were able to enter immediately without waiting. The shop isn't very big, but the view of the miniature garden from the red table in the back parlor is impressive. Unfortunately, you need at least four people to sit there, but four male students who came later were impressed (lol). My friend and I ordered the same as last time: - Kinichiba Fondue 1500 yen - Hojicha Fondue 1500 yen We shared these dishes! This time, they were served immediately without waiting. The two-tiered drawer-like dish is stylish. The fondue pot is also like a beautiful Echizen ware teacup. The fondue ingredients included strawberries, yamamomo berries, sweet potatoes, nama-fu (wheat gluten), black bean with gold leaf, chestnut with skin, peeled chestnut, warabi mochi, marshmallow and dango skewers, and sesame dango. The cake varied to match the fondue: matcha flavor for Kinichiba Fondue and chocolate and nuts for Hojicha Fondue. The fondue sauce had a perfect sweetness and a subtle tea aroma, and we enjoyed it all the way to the end. The staff were also friendly and the service was pleasant. I highly recommend stopping by when you visit Nishiki Market. It was delicious!! I will definitely visit again.
