After watching the Gion Festival, I had some errands to run and ended up at Kyoto Station, where it was extremely crowded due to the intense heat. On days like this, a light seafood lunch is perfect. I decided to go for a salmon and ikura bowl instead of a regular seafood bowl, and it was incredibly delicious!

I visited Takagi Sengyo Store and thought about eating there before heading home. There are 6 counter seats and 4 face-to-face seats. I didn't know the name, but it seemed like a chain store. There is a glass sushi case, but no fish. I ordered a 12-piece nigiri and a seafood bowl. The nigiri was made by a machine with sharp edges, and the toppings lacked shine and looked dried out. I prefer sushi that is made by hand.

The fresh shrimp added a sense of value, but the restaurant had some flaws. They seemed to be focusing more on takeout sushi, so when we sat down, no staff came over for a while. Eventually, when they did, they apologized and asked us to wait because they were busy with takeout orders. The sushi itself was decent, but the rice was slightly cold and clumped together. Even when it came time to pay, they didn't notice us standing there, so we had to knock on the kitchen door to get their attention. The person at the register had a silver ring on their finger, which seemed unhygienic for a sushi restaurant. Overall, the experience was okay, but there were some issues that could be improved.

There is a takeout sushi shop on the first floor of AEON Mall Kyoto, which also has a counter seating area for dining in. I was running errands and decided to have an early dinner here around 6 pm. My husband had the Tekka Don and I had the Takagi Seafood Don, both priced at 869 yen each. The seafood is always fresh and the prices are reasonable, so we enjoy eating here. We had a delicious meal as usual. Thank you. AEON Mall Kyoto was a bit of a drive for us this time. The free 1-hour parking service with the AEON Point Card has been discontinued. It now costs 200 yen for 20 minutes, but you can get 1 hour free with a purchase of 2000 yen or more, 2 hours free with a purchase of 5000 yen or more, and 3 hours free with movie theater use. Normally, we walk or bike there, but using the car without a specific purpose has become less convenient.

This is a store on the first floor of Ion. The surroundings are glamorous. When I arrived before noon, there were already two groups at the 6-seat counter. I ordered a seafood bowl. It took a while for the sushi of the previous customers. All the previous customers ordered sushi. First, the tasteless miso soup. The sushi was average. The technique of thinly slicing the shad roe diagonally was impressive. The pack for takeout at 869 yen was neatly made.

The first tea I drank tasted bad. I'm not sure if it was the smell of the water or the pot itself. And when the seafood bowl I ordered arrived, the toppings were average for the price, but the rice was not tasty. Overall, I don't think I will come back again.

"I was lured in by a sign that said 'Limited edition! Great deal!' When I placed my order, I could hear the sound of a burner in the kitchen. Eventually, my food arrived. The tuna seemed to be just regular slices, thin and long. It had a slightly charred aroma, but it was also quite tough. It lacked the usual robustness and melt-in-your-mouth texture of tuna, instead just tasting of charred flavor. It would have been okay if it was a bit cheaper, but at this price, it was a bit hard to swallow. The miso soup tasted like fish bones that day."

This is a review of a takeout sushi shop at Aeon Mall Kyoto, which also has an eat-in or dining area. They offer a variety of nigiri sushi and seafood bowls, and I ordered the "specialty" dish called Gyoshimeshi, which includes 12 types of daily fresh seafood on a bed of rice. I chose the regular size and it arrived promptly. The dish came with separate ikura (salmon roe) and miso soup. The bowl was wide but shallow, and the ingredients included shrimp, scallop, whitebait, salmon, amberjack, tuna, raw octopus, eel, mentaiko (not tobiko as I initially thought), tamagoyaki (sweet omelette), and maybe squid. The freshness of the fish was good, but the tamagoyaki seemed pre-made. The rice was vinegared, and the miso soup tasted somewhat instant. Overall, the seafood bowl was a bit difficult to eat due to the mix of ingredients. Additionally, it is possible to bring the sushi available for retail sale to the standing bar at the neighboring Asano Sake Shop.

When staying in Kyoto, there is a Kyoto Aeon Mall near the accommodation. There is a shop that always closes around 9 o'clock, but today it's 8 o'clock. On the third attempt, it seems possible to eat. I sat at the counter, hesitated between shirasu, and decided to order a fisherman's meal extravagantly today. After a few minutes of waiting, the fisherman's meal arrived. I first enjoyed the shrimp, then savored everything counterclockwise from the center. I added some salmon roe halfway through and it was the climax! I enjoyed it deliciously. Satisfied.

Located on the first floor of Aeon Mall Kyoto, this restaurant offers sushi and seafood bowls for takeout, as well as a small eat-in area with a counter and four-person tables. They do not sell fresh fish. While Aeon Katsuragawa and Aeon Rakunan have Takagi Sengyo-ten which sells fresh fish, they do not offer an eat-in option. On this day, my husband had a crab bowl and I had a yellowtail bowl. The portion sizes can be chosen, which is nice. The ingredients really show that they are from a fish market. It's great to be able to enjoy a seafood bowl in a shopping center. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by during my work break. The menu had a variety of options, and I decided to go with the Takagi seafood bowl, which was reasonably priced and came with plenty of toppings. On top of the kinshi egg, there was tuna, squid, shrimp, eel, shirasu (young sardines), bonito, salmon, thickly cooked egg, and ikura (salmon roe) in a lotus root cup. It was luxurious. The egg was thick and slightly firm, which I liked. All of this for 790 yen (excluding tax) and it came out in less than 5 minutes after ordering, which was also nice. The only downside was that the miso soup was lukewarm. It's easy for even a solo diner to sit at the counter, which is convenient.

In the midst of cleaning, feeling hungry and weak, I stopped by this place on a whim. I was tempted by the Salmon Oyakodon, but decided to go for the fisherman's meal after all! It was more generous with the toppings than I expected! Usually, I imagine each piece of seafood being placed separately, but this bowl had scallops and squid with two pieces each. The most delicious ones were the salmon and the conger eel. I love salmon, so I think I'll try the Salmon Oyakodon next time. The conger eel was thin and seemed a bit weak, but it had a fluffy and delicious taste. It melted in my mouth. When I want to eat seafood cost-effectively, I think this is a good place to go. The shrimp was a bit disappointing because it had a slightly fishy smell and lacked the sweet and slimy texture, but overall, considering the casual atmosphere, price, and taste, I would rate it 3.2 stars. It's not "super delicious," but it's a good option for a quick and affordable seafood meal.

I met up with a friend who used to attend Jun-tai and we decided to have a meal together. We chose Takagi-san, which is within walking distance. Although the seating is limited and cramped, the prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. If you want a simple seafood bowl, this is the place to go. It's a fish market, so the ingredients are fresh and high quality. And all of this for just around 1000 yen. I highly recommend giving it a try.

A takeout restaurant on the first floor of AEON Mall Kyoto serving seafood sushi and bowls. We had dinner there in the eat-in space. I had the fisherman's bowl and my husband had the crab bowl. The eat-in space was mostly empty and easy to enter. We may have stood out a bit from the surrounding atmosphere, but it was a delicious meal. Thank you.
