On Friday night at 7 pm, there were empty seats. The ladies set menu costs 1980 yen and includes salad, curry, chicken, naan, drink, and ice cream. The curry is spinach and mutton curry with medium spiciness. I had a lassi for my drink. The staff is very kind. The cheese naan is sweet and delicious. I was so full, I could only eat half of it.

I dropped in for lunch. I love cheese naan, so I was drawn to the photo on the storefront. I ordered the cheese naan set for 1000 yen with a lassi for 1100 yen. The cheese naan was indeed full of cheese, but surprisingly sweet! It might be too sweet... I love the salty cheese, sweet naan, and buttery oily junky feel of cheese naan, but this one was just too sweet. It felt like they put too much sugar in it. I chose the chicken curry, which was also quite different from Japanese curry. Even though I asked for it to be spicy, it was still quite sweet when combined with the cheese naan. The aroma was also milder, almost like they tried to make it fit Japanese tastes. Despite this, the restaurant seems to have a good number of customers, so maybe this is the right approach. I might come back in the evening to see if it suits my taste better.

Hello ( ̄Д ̄)ノ I stopped by for lunch at Samjana, a Nepalese and Indian cuisine restaurant. The main attraction for me was the curry and especially the cheese naan♡ I entered the restaurant and sat at a table. The waiter came over quickly and I ordered the Cheese Naan Set for 1,000 yen. I chose the chicken curry with normal spiciness from the options of mutton, vegetables, and chicken curry. I also added a lassi for an extra 100 yen. First, I had the soup and then the Cheese Naan Set arrived. It included creamy cheese, chicken curry, salad, rice, soup, and a vegetable curry-like dish. I dug in and found the chicken curry to be easy to eat with the normal level of spiciness. It was more Japanese-friendly than I expected! The combination of the cheese naan and curry was delicious. I enjoyed dipping the cheese naan in the curry. Overall, I had a satisfying meal with the Cheese Naan Set and the lassi helped refresh my palate after eating. It was a long time since I had cheese naan, so I left feeling full and content. Thank you for the meal! PS: I got the lassi for free using a coupon from Tabelog.

Lunch with cheese naan and spicy chicken curry. I love the cheese naan here! It's delicious even when eaten on its own, so sweet. I ordered the curry spicy but it was still manageable. Laughing, I was so full from the naan! I'll definitely go back again.

I wanted to eat cheese naan! The curry with minced meat and egg was delicious with cheese naan. It had honey in it, making it sweet and gooey. The best. It was sweet but it also went well with the curry. I got really full! The staff was really nice.

Memories submission. The large naan is a prominent presence at the Nepalese restaurant Samjana, and those who are not familiar with it often react with surprise, saying "That naan is huge!" However, Samjana's naan is so big that everyone can't help but say "That naan is huge!" during lunchtime, they offer a set with naan, mini rice, curry, and salad. I think it was around 830 yen. The naan is so big and long that it doesn't fit on the plate and spills over. I have never seen a naan larger than this before. (I wonder if I ever finished eating it...) The naan had a slightly sweet taste. I also once took out a pumpkin naan, which was predictably heavy. Although naan is not technically Nepalese cuisine, this giant naan has become a specialty of the Nepalese restaurant Samjana.

I can't eat curry anywhere else, I always end up settling for cheese naan, spinach, and shrimp curry.

As someone who prefers mild flavors, the curry here is incredibly delicious and I find myself coming back again and again. Compared to other curry shops, the staff may seem a bit unfriendly, but they are actually nice people.

Had lunch at Samjana, a Nepalese restaurant in Takano. I asked for the curry to be Very Spicy, but it wasn't very spicy, so even people who don't like spicy food should be fine. The naan was lightly buttered and delicious. The tandoori chicken took a while to come out, but it was hot and tasty. However, the lunch portion of the curry was small and not spicy enough, so for those who enjoy Indian or Nepalese cuisine, satisfaction may not be high. It might be better to try the grand menu at night.

I went for lunch on a regular day. As soon as you enter, you can feel the exotic atmosphere. Inside the restaurant, there are table seats. A staff member will guide you to your table. The lunch menu is placed on the table, with photos making it easy to understand. There are various types of curry, including a daily special. You can also choose the level of spiciness, just let the staff know. The B set comes with a full-sized naan for an extra 30 yen. The curry can be made extra spicy, and you also get chicken curry, salad, rice, and soup on one plate. The soup is served with water. It's a satisfying meal.

In Japan, many Indian restaurants are actually run by Nepalese people. Nepalese workers often come to Japan for work due to the country being poorer than India and having a strong tendency for overseas work (I often saw Gurkha mercenaries from the British army in Hong Kong). Nepal is also a pro-Japan country, so many Nepalese people work in Japan. However, they often run Indian curry restaurants instead of Nepalese cuisine. India's GDP per capita is $4,000, while Japan's is about 10 times that at $38,700. India's population is 1.31 billion, while Nepal's is 26.5 million. Nepal is a small country sandwiched between two giants, which makes things quite tough. In Osaka, there are Nepalese-run Nepalese restaurants, unlike in other places. I visited one of them and had the Tamel set for ¥980. The set included salad, soup, rice, choice of curry (vegetable, chicken, mutton, or daily special), Malai Tikka Seekh Kebab, and Naan. The soup was mild and the curry had a unique spice blend. The Tikka and Kebab were flavorful and satisfying. The large Naan served is actually more common in Pakistan than in India. It seems to be a trend in Japanese Indian restaurants to have Nepalese people serving Indian curry with Pakistani-style Naan. Despite the rice not being Japanese, the overall experience at the restaurant was good. The enthusiastic service from the staff was memorable.

Located on the first street to the west of Higashiyama on Kitaoji-dori, right across from Izumiya, is this place. I visited here in response to a rare request from my partner, who loves Nepal but dislikes curry. The interior of the restaurant is filled with Hindu and Nepalese decorations such as furniture, ornaments, and posters. The staff seemed to be from Nepal and were very kind throughout. The menu offers a variety of curry options, including the type of curry, spiciness level, meat choice, and drink. This time, we ordered a sweet chicken curry (for my partner) and a medium-spicy minced meat keema curry (for me), with cheese naan (for me) and butter naan (for my partner), and ginger chai for both of us. Despite not being a fan of the strong spices typically found in authentic Indian curry, I surprisingly enjoyed the Nepalese curry. The other chicken dishes were also tailored to suit Japanese tastes, making them delicious for me. My partner, who has visited Nepal several times, was delighted with the momos and sweet Nepalese curry he ordered. The portions were generous, and after starting with an Everest beer, I ended up leaving a bit of food on my plate, but I would definitely like to come back for a light meal with an Everest beer next time! 😄

I used it for lunch with my friend. On this day, I ordered the Dal Bhat set for 1000 yen (I think this was the most expensive lunch). The naan is so fluffy and delicious that it overflows from the plate. Under the naan, there is a curry soup called Tarkari and rice hidden. There was also a consomme-like soup on the side. The curry changes daily and you can choose the spiciness. It came with Tandoori chicken stew, potato curry, and salad. The portion is generous. It's enough to make you full. There are many foreigners in the restaurant. It's not as spicy as Indian curry, but it's cheap and wallet-friendly.

I visited for lunch on Sunday. It was my first time at this restaurant. The interior was surprisingly spacious and not fully occupied, but most of the seats were taken with people coming in and out. I added a coffee for 100 yen to the A.B lunch set. The interior exuded a foreign atmosphere, and the staff, who spoke fluent Japanese, were foreigners. If it weren't for the Japanese customers, you might think you were in a foreign country. There was a stove on the counter, giving it a Nepalese vibe perhaps? The curry was not too strong and easy to eat, just delicious. The Seekh Kebab? It was a long, thin, red sausage-like item that didn't quite suit my taste. The naan was a half size, but with rice included, it was enough to fill me up. Sometimes, it's nice to try out unique and different restaurants like this one!

I bought some naan at the supermarket and was disappointed by how bad it tasted, so today I craved some delicious naan and decided to visit this place. I went around 2 o'clock and it was quite crowded! The interior of the restaurant has a tropical feel, and the staff are from Nepal, giving it a foreign vibe. They can speak Japanese too! The restaurant has spacious table seating. As soon as you sit down, they serve you a cold drink. I ordered the Lunch Guranchi (daily curry, salad, soup, and achar) for 700 yen. Here is my review of the food: - Daily curry: Sweet potato and broccoli curry. It was a curry with over 20 different spices, thick in texture. You can choose the level of spiciness from mild, medium, to spicy. I chose medium, and it had a bit of a kick but wasn't too spicy. It was flavorful and not too overpowering. - Soup: A gentle spiced soup with small vegetables and egg. It was delicious. - Naan: A half-sized naan, over 60cm in diameter. Unlike the ones sold in supermarkets, it was light, moist, and slightly crispy on the edges. The dough was slightly sweet, and I loved it. - Achar (pickle): It had a good amount of kick to it, but it was easy to eat without any strong flavors. Overall, the curry made with authentic techniques had a perfect balance of spices. The naan was especially delicious, and I could eat as many as I wanted. If you can't finish your meal, they also offer takeout. It was a happy lunch experience!

You will be greeted with pleasant customer service. The staff is efficient and it's nice. Samjana-san has been promoting Nepalese cuisine early on in their business. Many Nepalese people run their restaurants as Indian curry shops, which may deter Japanese customers due to the uncertainty of what to expect. However, there are successful examples like Samjana-san, who have been running a Nepalese cuisine restaurant for a long time. During lunchtime, the seats are filling up one after another. Even local housewives' groups seem to casually enjoy the place. I ordered the Dal Bhat lunch set with extra spicy Dal Bhat. It includes Dal Curry (curry made from lentils), Chicken Chili (stir-fried chicken), Aloo Achaar (potato curry stir-fry), Soup Curry, Salad, Rice, Naan, Chicken Soup. The lentil curry is a rich type that you can eat like a soup. The Chicken Chili may look like a Chicken Choyela at first glance but it has a strong chili powder flavor. Since the Naan is a half-size, I mixed it with rice in the latter half of the meal. Mix Aloo Achaar, Chicken Chili, and Dal Curry together. That's how you should eat Dal Bhat!
