I visited the restaurant on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, just before 1 pm. There were only two other customers. It was quite empty. I ordered the plate udon, which I really like. It took about 10 minutes from ordering to being served. Since the restaurant is a local Chinese place, it felt like a bit of a wait. The portion was huge! I thought it was enough for two people. As for the taste, the noodles were good, but something felt lacking. To me, the sauce on top was too light. I seasoned it with the sauce and pepper on the table and finished the meal.

The other day, on TV Asahi's "Kaeremachi 10," they featured a special on Kyoto's town Chinese restaurants. One of the places I didn't know about was Oufu-san. It's located near Eizan Electric Railway's Shugakuin Station in the northern part of Kyoto, so I decided to check it out. It has a traditional town Chinese atmosphere, with both tatami and table seating. First, I tried the gyoza. They were large and delicious! I also ordered the famous plate udon and champon. They were a bit light in flavor but very filling. I also tried the Chinjao Rosu and chicken karaage, and I left with a full stomach. However, it took quite a long time for the food to come out, possibly because the kitchen was short-staffed.

Recently, it was introduced on TV. While watching that program on TVer, my parents mentioned that they had visited the restaurant about 15 years ago and suggested, "If you haven't been there, why not give it a try?" It's a typical Chinese restaurant in town, and it seems that champon and plate udon are the main dishes. I ordered the plate udon. The portion size is amazing, perfect for a hungry lunch. The taste is a bit light. The seasoning of the ankake sauce is not consistent, with some variations in saltiness. However, there is no shortage of customers during weekdays at lunchtime. Next time, I'll try the champon.

I ordered fried dumplings and champon for lunch. The fried dumplings had crispy wings and were cooked to a golden brown. The flavor was different from the popular chain stores and had a homemade taste which was nice. They were delicious even without dipping sauce. Next, the champon. It was advertised as having the authentic taste of Nagasaki, but it was more on the lighter side and had a taste similar to Kyoto champon, which was good in a way. The aftertaste was refreshing, so it was good in a sense.

I ate Nagasaki champon and fried chicken right by Shugakuin Station. It's a bit odd to have Nagasaki food in northern Kyoto, but leaving that aside, it was light and delicious. There was one man in the kitchen and one woman in the dining area, with the sound of the TV coming from a corner of the ceiling. It's a down-to-earth place. If it were nearby, I might come back again.

It's been a while since I visited, and the restaurant has taken measures to space out the seating for COVID. The Champon is a great deal at 800 yen, with plenty of vegetables including squid and fish cake. The vegetables might be slightly overcooked. The Champon noodles are authentic, but the soup tastes like a mix between Champon and Tokyo-style Tanmen, similar to the flavor of Omi Champon. I wish it had the richness of Kouraku in Nagasaki. There is a student discount available, and it seems like the restaurant may have changed ownership to a young couple.

Average. The fried chicken is not delicious. I was able to find a seat even during the lunch rush.

I'm in the middle of reviewing my trip to Osaka, but taking a short break to include a review of a restaurant in Kyoto. On August 16th, before heading to see the Gozan no Okuribi (Daimonji), we decided to have dinner in Shugakuin. We heard rumors about their amazing plate udon, so we had to check it out! The restaurant had a casual Chinese eatery vibe, but with posters of Nagasaki champon and plate udon displayed, it was clear that these were their specialty dishes. We ordered the champon (780 yen), plate udon (780 yen), and water dumplings (570 yen) to share between two people. - Champon: The chicken broth was very light and had a hint of rehydrated shiitake mushrooms. The dish included plenty of cabbage, bean sprouts, shiitake mushrooms, thinly sliced wood ear mushrooms, and canned bamboo shoots. It also had shrimp and pork. - Plate Udon: Similar ingredients to the champon, but with a huge portion! The noodles were very thin and coated well with the sauce. - Water Dumplings: The large dumplings came in a serving of 7 and were quite filling. The skin was thick. Overall, the dishes had a very light flavor, despite using Nagasaki noodles, they had a Kyoto-style taste. The total bill came to 2050 yen, making it a great value for the quality and quantity of food. Very satisfied! Now, let's go see the Gozan no Okuribi! Thank you for the meal!

My wife said she wanted to eat Champon, so we went on Saturday for lunch. It was our first time visiting this place. I ordered the Ramen C set (840 yen) which comes with ramen, rice, and gyoza. My wife ordered the Nagasaki Champon (780 yen). The place was bustling. After a short wait, our food arrived. The ramen was rich and delicious. The rice and gyoza complemented it well. The Champon had thin noodles and a creamy, flavorful soup with plenty of vegetables. It was delicious and filling. Looking at the menu, I thought it would be nice to try some other dishes as well.

Nagasaki Shinchi! Using Chinese noodles directly delivered. A restaurant in Kyoto where you can taste Nagasaki's Chinese noodles, delicious, cheap, and casual. The staff are friendly and provide plates and bowls with a smile. A great ally for the common people. As they say, the downtown area is great, so come on in with a cheerful tone like Katsura Sanshi. Located on Shugakuin Station Street. Try the Nagasaki Champon or Nagasaki Somen here! Look for the Meiji Masaji Law Office sign. Next to it is Onnari, or formally Kitchin Wanfuu Dos. Both are 780 yen.

This is a review of a restaurant serving Nagasaki Champon, plate udon, and Chinese cuisine, with Nagasaki noodles directly delivered from Nagasaki. On Fridays, there is a special offer for women - 200 yen beer. The restaurant is located northwest of the three-way intersection on Kitayama Street, Kita-Shirakawa. Next to it is a shop called "Niku no Okada". Until 7:00 PM, you can smell the delicious aroma of croquettes and fried cutlets. I ordered the cutlet rice bowl and then went to the neighboring Oufu restaurant. The restaurant has tables of 4x4 and 6x2. Today, it was almost full, but I noticed that the corner seat was available. Looking at the menu, I decided to order "Tenshinhan" and "Grilled Gyoza". The Tenshinhan had a sweet vinegar sauce with a fluffy egg omelet on top. The egg was so fluffy and delicious. The rice underneath was also soft and tasty. The combination of egg, sauce, and rice was excellent. The Grilled Gyoza came in a set of six with wings, which is rare in Kyoto. They were crispy and flavorful. The total bill for today was 940 yen. The owner mentioned that the Tenshinhan would take some time, but I didn't mind waiting. In the past, I used to shake the pot myself, so I understood why it took a bit longer. I have decided to share exclusive secret tips with my followers only. I look forward to comments and messages from my energetic followers. I will not post about restaurants that I do not plan to revisit. I will focus on B-class and C-class gourmet dishes in Kyoto for my followers. Stay tuned for hidden menu items that are actually delicious.

I visited the restaurant after about 30 years. When I used to live in Kyoto, I would go there for a late-night snack! Back then, the young women working there were efficient and the restaurant had an old but clean atmosphere. The place was bustling with energy. The restaurant has been renovated and looks more modern now, but the atmosphere is dark and the cleanliness is lacking. The items were placed haphazardly. Before, they used to have a lot of set meals, but Champon and plate udon became their specialties! I ordered a ramen and fried rice set. An elderly person served water and took orders. The fried rice was disappointing. It was dry and lacked the right texture. It had a slight buttery smell. It shouldn't taste like pilaf. If they're not using fresh ingredients, they should wash them properly. The ramen had okay soup, but the noodles were overcooked and not enjoyable. Overall, as a paid dish, it was disappointing.

I had heard rumors that Champon was delicious, but I didn't have the opportunity to visit until this day. I finally made it. I took the Eizan Electric Railway, which I haven't used in a long time. I remember reading a newspaper article about foreign tourists enjoying the atmosphere by reading books for a long time at the unmanned stations of the Eizan Electric Railway. I can somehow understand that. Now, as planned, I ordered the "Nagasaki Champon (780 yen)" in the photo. It is full of vegetables, and the sweetness seeps out, balancing well with the soup seasoned with salt and pepper. One good thing about Champon is that it is always voluminous no matter where you eat it. I thought it was a Champon specialty shop, but it was a Chinese restaurant that also serves "Sara Udon," ramen, and set meals. Smoking was allowed inside the restaurant. There seems to be a parking lot, but I forgot to confirm the location.

A shop located very close to Eizan Electric Railway Shugakuin Station!! The specialty dishes are plate udon and champon, with ultra-thin crispy noodles as shown in the photo. I was intrigued to visit after being disappointed with the sauce of Hanjo Yakisoba at Kasho the other day. The interior of the shop has table seats and raised tatami seats, with a spacious and clean capacity. The menu includes daily specials, ramen sets for students at a discount of 150 yen, and a variety of a la carte dishes. It seemed to be a recommended shop by Daisuke Miyagawa, as there was a signature. For this visit... Plate Udon 780 yen. It took some time to be carefully prepared for a Chinese dish. The contents and taste... Plate Udon - The ultra-thin crispy noodles imported from Nagasaki are used in abundance. The generous sauce includes pork, squid, shrimp, wood ear mushrooms, cabbage, onions, bean sprouts, shiitake mushrooms, kamaboko, and satsuma-age. I will mix the noodles with the sauce. The sauce is not made with sesame oil, so it has a light taste. It may be slightly strong for me, but it's a good balance of sauce and noodles. The pork, squid, and shrimp are fresh and springy. It's a satisfying meal even for men due to its generous portion. Overall... It's a great way to get a lot of vegetables! I love the ultra-thin crispy noodles. Champon is also said to be a specialty, so I would like to try it next time. It's a shop that makes me want to come back.
