In May 2014, the overall rating for this restaurant is 3.4, with ratings for food/taste at 3.4, service at 3.5, atmosphere at 4.1, and value for money at 3.7. When I visited in April 2013, the restaurant had a rating of 3.03. I used to work in this area for a long time around this time last year. Work has started again with a client in this area, so I will probably visit this restaurant again. Before going, I wanted to increase my desire to go by writing a review. The restaurant is located near the old Route 24, in front of Joyo City Hall next to a Shell gas station. There is a sister restaurant called Little Shanghai next to the Shell gas station, and the restaurant I am reviewing, Ciel, is also nearby. The interior of Ciel is stylish, with black and monochrome tones and red accents, giving it a luxurious feel. The Chinese staff members provide good service, adding to the atmosphere. Despite the upscale interior, the prices on the menu are surprisingly reasonable. The daily special is 730 yen, noodles with fried rice are 780 yen, a rice bowl with mini ramen is 880 yen, and a set meal is 980 yen. All come with self-serve coffee. The garage at this restaurant makes these prices a great deal. The value for money and service ratings are high. As for the taste, all the dishes are good! The soup for the noodles is a clear broth typical of Chinese restaurants, with noodles that are smooth and slurp-worthy. The wonton in the noodle soup had a good texture and taste. The fried rice was fluffy and flavorful, coating the rice nicely. The sweet and sour pork was made with the traditional ketchup-based sauce, which was also good. While I didn't try everything on the menu, the food is consistent and enjoyable. If I had to nitpick, I would say that besides the affordability, I wish there was more of a standout dish that leaves a lasting impression. The food was a bit too safe and didn't have that wow factor. Overall, it's a nice restaurant where you can enjoy a leisurely meal in a good atmosphere. Writing this review has made me want to go back again. I should check my schedule for the next trip to Joyo.
