Last night was my 5th visit to this restaurant. It's a place that serves delicious and affordable tempura dishes, with tempura rice bowls as their main specialty. When I was in Tokyo, I used to frequent a fast food tempura rice bowl chain called Tenya, but in Kansai, there are not many tempura restaurants around. Even though this place is located slightly on the outskirts in Ichijoji, there is no shortage of parking space for bikes or cars, unlike many other places in the area. So, when you're craving tempura, head over to Motokame next to Takayasu. It's only a 5-minute walk from Ichijoji Station, and about 7 minutes from Takano bus stop. Their tempura rice bowls are priced around 600 yen, and you can even get free extra rice from a small portion to a mega-size. The variety and combinations of tempura they offer are also quite enjoyable. Yesterday, I tried their limited-time Ishikari tempura rice bowl, which came with scallops, salmon, cod, nagaimo (Japanese yam), shiitake mushrooms, and perilla leaves on top. As for the seasoning, they provide a sauce on the table for you to use. It's not the typical Kansai-style tempura dipping sauce, but rather a sweet and savory Edo-style sauce that is thick and sticky, allowing you to control the amount you want to use without making the rice too soggy, which I personally like. They also serve a miso soup with shrimp broth and vegetables on the side, which is a nice touch. This restaurant has been welcoming customers for about 8 years now, and it seems to be loved by students and local families alike. I plan to visit again next month. It's located right next to the famous Takayasu, across from Ikedaya. For those who don't want to be forced to eat Takayasu's strongly flavored ramen, how about trying their tempura rice bowls instead?

Tempura Motokame 1 Koyamadera Takatsuki-cho La Wengen - Ebi Tendon The freshly fried large shrimp tempura is topped with plenty of flavorful and fluffy egg soaked in delicious broth. Once you take a bite of this gentle and irresistible taste, you'll be hooked. - Anago Ebi Chicken Breast Tendon The most popular dish, this tendon features towering anago and shrimp that looks visually stunning and is very filling. The shrimp is plump and large, making it very satisfying. - Ebi Tendon Zaru Soba The soba has a great aroma and texture, while the broth has a rich yet refreshing taste with a strong bonito flavor. The tempura includes two large shrimp, onion tempura, pumpkin, okra, and green beans, all freshly fried and delicious. There are three types of salt available for seasoning, allowing you to enjoy different flavors. The amazing thing about this restaurant is the combination of generous portions and great taste at a very reasonable price. With a wide variety of menu options, I would definitely want to go back when craving delicious soba in Kyoto. I highly recommend everyone to try it out!

Before summer comes to an end, make sure to try the summer specialty of Kyoto, "hamo" (pike conger eel), at "Tendon Motoyoshi" in Ichijoji. Their seasonal dish, "Hamo Tempura Zaru Soba," costs 1800 yen and features crispy tempura fried in fragrant sesame oil served with hand-cut soba noodles. Dip the hamo tempura in plum paste for extra flavor. In addition to hamo, the dish includes tempura of Kyoto vegetables like shishito peppers, shiso leaves, carrots, and a colorful and generous serving of grated daikon radish. Three types of dipping sauces are provided: curry, matcha, and shichimi. The soba noodles, which are stone-ground, are delicious and made from a blend of 80% buckwheat and 20% wheat. They also offer rice bowls with a choice of portion size and tasty sauce options. During lunchtime, you can add a zaru soba set for an additional 350 yen. The restaurant is located in Ichijoji, known for its ramen shops, and is a great choice when you're craving delicious soba or rice bowls. They also have a wide selection of sake to complement your meal.

Three Top Tendon for 1,400 yen and Handmade Soba for 350 yen. The tendon with anago, shrimp, and chicken tempura towering over the rice bowl is truly top-notch! The sesame oil aroma and crispy tempura are delicious. The handmade soba also has a satisfying texture and is incredibly tasty. I visited this restaurant because I wanted to eat tendon. I ordered the Special Gourmet Tempura Bowl Set for 2000 yen, which comes with soba noodles. I could choose the amount of rice from small to 500g, and I chose the large portion of 300g. The tempura is fried using sesame oil, and the aroma when it was served was excellent. There are two types of tendon sauce on the table, regular and spicy, so you can choose according to your preference. The variety of toppings was plentiful, and I left feeling satisfied.

Located in the Ramen Street of Ichijoji, there is a somewhat unique shop that specializes in "tempura" and "handmade soba." Although it stands out in Ichijoji, I had never been inside before. This time, I decided to give it a try. The shop operates on a ticket system, and there is no option for extra large servings (although you can choose the amount of rice). You purchase your ticket and the staff will come to collect it once you are seated. They offer self-service tea as well. I ordered the tempura and soba set (with chicken tempura). The soba broth was slightly spicy with a subtle sweetness, and the tempura came with three types of salt (curry, wasabi, and something spicy). I really enjoyed the soba broth and the three types of salt. The price was 1300 yen, which is reasonable, but the portion size was a bit small. I wish there was an option to adjust the amount of soba, similar to the rice portion. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the meal. I parked at a nearby parking lot, which cost 1320 yen. It's a bit pricey for parking, but that seems to be the case in Kyoto overall. It would be great if they could improve the parking situation in the area.

I had lunch at Ichijoji. The lunch set with soba was a good deal, so I ordered an anago-don and zaru soba set. The anago-don had both spicy and sweet sauce options, so I enjoyed comparing them while eating. The soba noodles had a firm and delicious texture. It was tasty, but the portion was quite large.

I arrived in Ichijoji wanting to eat ramen at a time outside of the usual lunch hours, but my favorite shop had a long line. So I decided to try Motoyoshi, which had a parking lot next to the store. The ticket machine was a bit sticky, and there was only one other customer ahead of us. At first, I thought, "Did I make a mistake?" But my opinion changed once I tasted the food!!! My husband had the shrimp tempura & chicken tempura bowl set for lunch (1100 yen + 350 yen), and I had the parent and child tempura rice bowl (1000 yen). The tempura was freshly fried and piping hot, and the dipping sauce had a rich dashi flavor. It was delicious! My husband was initially surprised by the light color of the soba dipping sauce, but he found it tasty because of the strong dashi flavor. The taste was great, the portion size was satisfying, and we left feeling very happy. Next time, we'll try the tempura bowl. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Ebi Tori Tendon for 1,000 yen. Purchased a meal ticket at the ticket vending machine near the entrance. You can also pay with PayPay by telling the staff. The sticky floor was a bit of a concern. The restaurant was about half full. You can choose the amount of rice for free. I ordered a large serving. It took quite a while for the food to come out (about 20 minutes?), but I had plenty of time so I leisurely waited while reading volume 6 of Oishinbo. What arrived was a towering Ebi Tori Tendon (if such a term exists). The sauce is a sweet and savory type that you pour on yourself, initially there was nothing on it. I sometimes feel dissatisfied with the amount of sauce, so I was very happy with this self-service sauce. I poured it generously. It's nice that there is a separate plate so you can transfer the food and eat it. The chicken tempura was crispy and tender! The shrimp was also packed with meat. In addition, there were onion tempura, okra, and 2 green beans that I love. I occasionally changed the taste with a spicy sauce while eating. The rice was a bit lacking for a large serving, but I was full with the tempura. It was a very delicious and satisfying tendon. I want to keep coming back to this restaurant because they have so many menu options. ☺️

I arrived at Ichijoji, where famous ramen shops line the street, and there is a delicious tendon restaurant with large servings! Today's restaurant is "Tendon MotoKame." The exterior of the restaurant is adorned with a large sign and an illustration of tendon, making it stand out. Inside, there are counter seats and table seats, and the place was bustling with customers. You buy a meal ticket before entering the restaurant and hand it to the staff. Of course, I ordered the main dish, the special MotoKame Tendon for ¥1500. When it was brought to the table, the impact was amazing! It was a very large tendon with 12 types of tempura! Let's dig in! On top of the rice, there were large conger eel, shrimp, shiitake mushroom, smelt, green beans, onion tempura, sweet potato, squid, okra, pumpkin, lotus root, and chicken tempura! There was so much tempura that you couldn't see the rice underneath! Not only was it visually luxurious, but the tempura had a crispy texture that was amazing! The conger eel and smelt had a chewy texture and the umami of the white flesh was outstanding! The shrimp, shiitake mushroom, and squid had a bouncy texture, and the umami seeped out with each bite, creating a addictive flavor! The green beans and onions had a crispy texture, and the sweetness spread in the mouth was amazing! The sweet pumpkin and sweet potato, and the crunchy lotus root, had a strong umami flavor and were incredibly delicious! The chicken tempura was tender, and the umami that was locked in with each bite overflowed in the mouth, making it delicious! The delicious tempura goes well with white rice! When you pour the sweet sauce, the chopsticks keep moving, and it's delicious! This tendon was incredibly delicious! It had an impressive appearance, but each piece of tempura was enjoyable with its own flavor. Before I knew it, I had finished it all! Please try it once!

I finally managed to visit this popular restaurant during the day, as it is always closed when I usually come in the evening. I ordered the generous portion of tempura rice bowl and the recommended cold soba noodles. The tempura was not as warm as I had imagined, so the taste was a bit different from what I expected. Thank you for the meal.

Entering December, Kyoto, especially Sakyo-ku, feels very cold. On days like this, warm udon sounds perfect! However, unfortunately on Mondays, "Udon Wada" is closed. So, I decided to visit Motokoshi. Lately, I've been avoiding tempura fried in sesame oil as it tends to sit heavy in my stomach, but udon is fine. I ordered the piping hot curry udon. You can taste the dashi broth flavor within the curry. Next time, I'll try the curry soba.

A tempura specialty shop located on the ramen street of Ichijoji Temple. I had heard about it since it opened, but this time my usual place nearby was closed, so it was my first visit. Since it was my first time, I ordered the shrimp tempura set meal for 1,120 yen. The tower-like presentation is nice, but is this really tempura? It's supposed to be "Kanto-style," but do they really like this crispy fry-like texture? I thought there would be more moist and freshly fried tempura in Kyoto. What a shame!

Next to the store, there is a bicycle parking space with the menu displayed. There is also a partnered parking lot nearby. Upon entering, there is alcohol disinfection and the menu is displayed. Right by the entrance, there is a ticket machine. If you are unsure of what to order, there are menu boards with photos displayed for easy reference. The restaurant mainly serves tempura rice bowls, but also offers set meals, curry, noodles, and even handmade soba. After purchasing a meal ticket, you can choose your seat and help yourself to tea and a hand towel. There are manga and children's books available as well. The floor may have had a sticky feeling in the past, but the staff will come to collect your meal ticket and ask about the rice portion for rice bowl orders. You can choose from mini to mega sizes at the same price. The attention to service at this point is already impressive. The "Motoke Tempura Rice Bowl" costs ¥1350 and looks appetizing. The tempura is served on a separate plate for convenience, and you can add sauce from the table as you like. The tempura is crispy with a thin batter, and there are 12 types of ingredients including seaweed tempura, chicken tempura, shrimp, conger eel, onion tempura, green beans, squid, scallop, okra, pumpkin, smelt fish, and shrimp. The tempura is freshly fried and of decent quality. The rice is firm, and although the portion may feel slightly lacking when alternating between tempura and rice, the meal is satisfying. The miso soup contains vegetables like spinach. A complimentary voucher for a free topping on your next visit was given. The restaurant is open year-round and offers soba noodle making experiences. Overall, there are no apparent flaws in this restaurant.

A traditional tempura restaurant in Shimomachi, located in Ichijoji where ramen shops gather. They fry their tempura in sesame oil and offer free extra rice. They also serve hand-made soba noodles. Hello ( ̄Д ̄)ノ I'm having a late lunch in Ichijoji. It's already 3 pm, and most of the places I wanted to go to are closed ( ̄∇ ̄) Oh no, they're closed, what should I do?! Oh! There's a tempura restaurant next to Takayasu's place! Looking at the menu outside, the tempura dishes look pretty substantial ♬ I'll give this place a try! I walk into the restaurant and go to the food ticket machine. I order the Special Megane Kame Tempura Donburi Set (with udon or soba, hot or cold) for 1550 yen and hand it to the staff. They ask me if I want udon or soba, and I choose udon (hot)! They also ask about the rice portion, and I go for the largest one, the Mega! The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious with many counter seats. There is also one table seat. After a while... ● Special Megane Kame Tempura Donburi Set (with Mega rice) 1550 yen Wahahahaha^o^ This surpasses the Kameyama Tempura Donburi from before - it's like a Tempura Tower!! You can pour your preferred sauce over the donburi later (there was a normal and a spicy one). There's also red miso soup and Hikara udon. I dig in!! There's sea bream, conger eel, snow peas, okra, vegetable tempura, chicken tempura, shrimp tempura, sweet potato, lotus root, pumpkin, small onions, squid, and more! 12 types of tempura. My favorite was the lotus root with seaweed in the batter - it had great flavor and texture. I enjoyed the udon, red miso soup, and tempura generously. I had a lot of tempura - it was so delicious. I'm full now, thank you for the meal!!

Ichijo-ji is a tempura rice bowl restaurant located on the ramen street. There are three parking spaces available, which is convenient in this area where parking can be expensive. I ordered the shrimp and conger eel tempura rice bowl for 1050 yen. Payment with PayPay is accepted, just let the staff know in advance. The dish arrived quickly and was generous in portion size, with shrimp, conger eel, okra, snow peas, and tempura. You can also request up to 500 grams of extra rice. The taste was as expected, freshly fried food is always delicious. However, it was a bit oily and heavy towards the end, but that might just be due to my age. Younger people might find it good value for money. Despite being busy, the service was polite and attentive.

In the ramen battleground of Ichijoji, there are many rich Chinese soba options, so I decided to try a soba and tempura restaurant for a change. The tempura was a bit oily. It seems fitting for Ichijoji, where strong flavors are preferred by students, but I wish it had been fried a bit more crisply. Despite being closed due to COVID, it seems they still make their own soba noodles. They might want to clean up the oil stains a bit more.

Ichijoji is famous for its ramen, but the soba restaurant Shio Kama is also popular. In particular, this place is known for its tempura, and I had high expectations for the plump shrimp tempura. I ordered a set of soba with chicken tempura and shrimp tempura. The soba noodles are thin and easy to eat, but the aroma is weak. The dipping sauce has some saltiness, but it feels a bit lacking. As for the tempura, the shrimp is crispy on the outside but near the shrimp it feels wet and lacks the crispiness. The chicken tempura is substantial and satisfying. The set came with three types of salt: curry, matcha, and rock salt, but I didn't really feel the need for them. I had high hopes, so my comments may seem harsh, but I think this place would be better for tempura donburi rather than soba.

The strong aroma of sesame and the crispy texture of the tempura I had in Tokyo left a lasting impression on me, so I was looking for something similar in Kansai. I visited this restaurant because they advertised themselves as serving Kanto-style tempura. The tempura had a golden color with a strong sesame aroma, just like Kanto-style tempura. I enjoyed the tempura with shrimp, conger eel, and vegetables. Personally, I didn't find the chicken tempura to be as good. The tempura had a crispy texture with plenty of sesame aroma, and the shrimp was cooked just right. The soba noodles were slightly chewy and went well with the dipping sauce. The sesame-scented tempura was addictive, and I wanted to come back for more, so I revisited on 10/26, but they were closed for the day. Since I had traveled quite a distance to visit, I wish they had announced their temporary closure on Twitter or their website.

Located a 4-minute walk from Ichijoji Station, this restaurant has parking available. I visited for lunch on the weekend with the goal of enjoying their large portion tempura to the fullest. The area was bustling with ramen shops, but this restaurant had 2 groups of customers already seated and 3 groups waiting. The exterior was on the first floor of a building, and the interior was a bit dimly lit, resembling a slightly spacious ramen shop. There were counter seats and table seats available. I first purchased the "Special Mega Turtle Tempura Donburi" for 1250 yen tax included from the automatic ticket machine and took a seat at one of the large tables. I requested a large portion of rice, which was equivalent to two rice bowls (the rice portion can be chosen for free). The tea was self-service. The tempura donburi that arrived was truly impressive, with a mountain of tempura piled high. There were a total of 12 different types of tempura, including shrimp, smelt fish, chicken, scallop, octopus, squid, pumpkin, sweet potato, and shiitake mushrooms. I poured the tempura sauce, which was provided at each table, over the tempura as I liked. The tempura was crispy and not greasy, but each piece was quite large, making it a bit challenging to eat them all. The sauce felt a bit strong to me; I prefer a more broth-like sauce. Nevertheless, I was able to enjoy the tempura as intended. Overall, I was reasonably satisfied. Next time, I might try the soba, which also looked delicious, and opt for a smaller portion of tempura as part of a set meal.

After returning from mountain climbing, feeling tired and hungry, I wanted to eat a hearty meal, so I decided to go to a tempura restaurant that I had been curious about for a while. I love shrimp tempura, so I ordered the shrimp tempura set meal. When it arrived, there was a mountain of tempura! The color of the fried shrimp looked good and the aroma of sesame oil was appetizing. The set meal came with a salad, but it was quite disappointing as it was very small. The shrimp tempura was crispy and the shrimp were a good size, providing a satisfying meal. I felt like eating a lot. You can enjoy mixing the rice with the dipping sauce and the tempura sauce. Although the salad was disappointing, I would like to come back in winter to eat oysters along with shrimp tempura.
