The other day, I went to Ichijoji Tsurukame in Ichijoji, Kyoto. I had been curious about it for a while but hadn't taken the plunge. The Tabelog rating is 3.48. I ordered the "Seafood Shoyu Tsukemen, Chashu Don, and Karaage Set" and it was amazing. The seafood aroma was strong but not overpowering, with a nice blend of seafood and soy sauce flavors. The noodles were flavorful and the karaage was curry-flavored, which I loved. The Chashu Don was unique with fish powder and pickled mustard greens, which surprisingly went well together. The portion was surprisingly large for a set menu. When I left the restaurant, there was a rugby team waiting in line. The restaurant only has about 6 counter seats, so there may be a wait. The food is definitely worth it, with attention to detail in the dishes. They also had ramen on the menu, so I definitely want to go back. Thank you for the meal!

Fish and soy sauce ramen for 800 yen. Chashu rice bowl for 300 yen served first. The presentation of the chashu rice bowl is colorful and beautiful. Topped with plenty of pickled mustard greens, sesame seeds, and green onions, all drizzled with mayonnaise. It's delicious when wrapped in seaweed. The ramen is hot and rich, perfect for warming up on a cold day. It has a refreshing yuzu flavor. The chashu has just the right amount of fat for my taste, and it comes with three slices by default. A satisfying dish. If this restaurant is nearby, I would love to try all their menu items.

I visited around 6:30 pm on a regular weekday. There was no wait. The restaurant was slightly crowded. It operates on a food ticket system. I purchased a ticket from the machine outside and entered the restaurant. I ordered the seafood soy sauce ramen small for 800 yen. I used a coupon for a boiled egg topping. The toppings included 3 slices of chashu, half a boiled egg, and 2 sheets of seaweed, which was a lot. The ramen had a delicious flavor of seafood and yuzu.

For lunch today, I headed to the popular restaurant "Tsurukame Ichijoji" in the ramen holy land of Kyoto, Ichijoji, to try the cold noodle dish I had been waiting for, which was announced on the shop's Twitter account. I checked the sign next to the ticket machine in front of the shop for today's cold dish, and selected the "Special Double Portion of Cold Kyoto Miso Tantan Tsukemen (900 yen)" along with the "Pickled Side Set (Silver Vinegar Rice + Kimchi, 100 yen)". Upon entering the shop, I handed the tickets to the shop owner and requested the dish to be served cold. I also asked for a double portion of noodles. After a while, a bowl of cold miso tantan broth with chili oil, chopped green onions, black and white sesame seeds, was served on top of handmade medium-thick straight noodles (400g), along with sliced pork loin chashu, shredded bamboo shoots, chopped white onions, and shredded red chili peppers. The dish arrived as the cold and refreshing version of the Kyoto Miso Tantan Tsukemen I had been eagerly waiting for. The broth, made with Kyoto miso, had a rich and creamy texture with a hint of sweetness, which was unexpected. The aroma of chili oil filled the air, followed by a mature and bitter flavor, umami, and richness that spread throughout the mouth. The perfect balance of spiciness and acidity, along with the addition of Kyoto miso, created a delicious and unique taste. The handmade medium-thick straight noodles, made with whole wheat flour, had a strong wheat flavor, a firm texture, and a smooth and slippery surface that felt pleasant in the mouth. When dipped in the cold miso tantan broth, the noodles retained their own rich flavor and umami, while also absorbing the flavors of the broth, resulting in a very tasty combination. The double portion of noodles was quickly devoured along with the broth. The sliced pork loin chashu was tender and flavorful, with each bite releasing a burst of meaty umami. The crunchy texture of the bamboo shoots, the crispness of the chopped white onions, and the flavor and spiciness of the shredded red chili peppers added a nice touch to the dish. I sprinkled some red chili pepper, black pepper, and sansho pepper on the noodles before dipping them in the broth, enhancing the flavor of the noodles and creating a successful flavor variation. The addition of sansho pepper particularly complemented the cold miso tantan broth perfectly. After finishing the noodles, I was offered a special seafood broth to mix with the remaining broth, which intensified the flavor and umami of the broth, creating a delightful combination. Despite the double portion of noodles, I quickly finished the delicious cold miso tantan broth and noodles, feeling completely satisfied. I was delighted to have the opportunity to try the limited cold noodle dish I had been eagerly waiting for, and I savored the lingering umami in my mouth, feeling extremely pleased and satisfied. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I had the "Special Seafood Soy Sauce Ramen" with the "Special Serving" option and extra noodles. The amount of noodles can be chosen between small, regular, or large for the same price. The rich and flavorful seafood aroma was prominent in the thick soy sauce soup, which I enjoyed until the last drop. The noodles were smooth and had a good texture, complementing the soup well. The rare pork chashu was also delicious. It was a delightful meal. Thank you.

I visited the restaurant after 8:30 PM and parked my car at a cheap coin parking nearby. I purchased a ticket for "Seafood Soy Sauce Ramen" (800 yen) at the ticket machine in front of the shop and went inside to sit at the counter seat. I waited for my ramen to be served. The bowl came with chashu, seaweed, menma, green onions, mizuna, shredded red chili peppers, and yuzu. When I tried the soup, it had a strong seafood aroma and umami, along with a rich and creamy chicken and pork broth with a refreshing soy sauce base. The noodles were smooth and had a good bite, pairing well with the flavorful soup. The mizuna and crunchy green onions added a nice texture. The chashu was made from rare pork, which was tasty and had a good flavor. While you can also enjoy the strong umami of chicken and pork, this ramen is recommended for those who prefer rich seafood flavors.

I found a delicious mixed ramen at a noodle shop in Kyoto during my trip. It's a refreshing and slightly spicy mixed ramen that even women can enjoy, similar to Kinmista near Hanabi. The fish powder is an accent, giving it a bonito flavor. It's perfect for those who like fish powder-based mixed ramen. Despite heavy rain that day, there were still customers lining up outside. My friend also said they want to come back. It's recommended to stop by on the way back as it has plenty of garlic in it.

Today's lunch was at the "Kyoto Wheat Harvest Festival." I visited the popular restaurant "Tsurukame Ichijoji" in the ramen holy land of Kyoto, "Ichijoji," for the second time in 8 years to try the limited noodles for the "Kyoto Wheat Harvest Festival 2022" from the third week of January 31 to February 6, which was already announced on Twitter. The "Kyoto Wheat Harvest Festival 2022," organized by "Izawa Seifun," is an event where 134 stores will provide dishes using Kyoto wheat "Setokirara" in a relay format over 12 weeks. Last year at the "Kyoto Wheat Harvest Festival 2021," I tried limited noodles using Kyoto wheat at four stores: "Enaku (Tantan Tsukemen)," "Tohryu (Wonton Ramen)," "Juuko Gundan (Grape Sansho Miso Tsukemen)," and "Bishiya (Chicken Kebab Mazesoba)." This year, in the first week, I tried the limited noodles "Pure Kyoto Ramen" at "Tohryu Kitashirakawa Main Store" for the "Kyoto Wheat Harvest Festival." Before entering the store, I checked the ticket machine in front of the store and pressed the ticket button for the "Kyoto Wheat x Kyoto Akadori Chicken Ramen (880 yen)" from the "Kyoto Wheat Harvest Festival 2020." I also pressed the ticket button for the "pickled set (silver rice + pickles, 100 yen)." After handing the ticket to the store owner, I sat at the counter seat with a partition board installed. I cleaned my hands with the alcohol disinfectant in front of me and waited for a while. After a while, the "Kyoto Wheat x Kyoto Akadori Chicken Ramen," which had chicken leg chashu, pork loin chashu, menma, chopped green onions, shredded red pepper, and seaweed toppings on the clear chicken clear soy sauce soup with chicken oil floating on top, arrived, emitting a tantalizing aroma of chicken broth and soy sauce. At the same time, the "pickled set (silver rice + pickles)" also arrived. I took a bite of the clear chicken clear soy sauce soup with chicken oil floating on top, and the rich aroma of chicken broth and soy sauce gently passed through my nose, spreading the flavor and umami of Kyoto Akadori chicken broth, along with the richness and sweetness of chicken oil and the rich umami and sharp soy sauce taste, making it very delicious! Although I hardly remembered the ramen I had 8 years ago, why, why, this soup is so delicious! The straight thin noodles made with the main ingredient Kyoto wheat "Setokirara" had a rich flavor of Kyoto wheat, a strong elasticity, a bouncy texture created by a high water content, a smooth noodle surface, and a smooth and slippery throat feel, which was quite pleasant, not losing to the aromatic chicken and soy sauce soup, very delicious! Is it homemade noodles? Or are they noodles made by the long-established noodle factory in Kyoto, "Menya Teioku"? Is the chicken leg chashu also made from Kyoto Akadori chicken? It had a resilient and chewy texture, and the more I chewed, the more the umami of the meat overflowed, and the sweetness and fragrance of the seared skin added to it, making it very tasty! The pork loin chashu had a moist texture, was thin but had a strong umami flavor, and when I let it blend well with the soup, it was very delicious! Furthermore, the moderately seasoned menma with a crunchy texture and the chopped green onions with a crispy texture added an accent, making it very nice! When I added red pepper, black pepper, and sansho pepper on the table midway through, the flavor of each one enhanced the richness of the chicken clear soy sauce soup even more, and the flavor change was a great success! I quickly finished the delicious chicken clear soy sauce soup and cleaned my plate! While basking in the aftertaste of the delicious Kyoto Akadori chicken clear soy sauce soup that brought out the flavor of Kyoto wheat, I was extremely satisfied and said, "Thank you for the meal!"

I purchased a meal ticket at the entrance, entered the restaurant, and handed the ticket to the staff. You can choose the amount of noodles, and this time I chose the regular size. After a few minutes, the ramen arrived with a strong aroma of yuzu. The soup was rich and flavorful, and the noodles were delicious. The rare char siu was also excellent!

[Date] August 24, 2021 (Tuesday) 1:06 PM [Food Rating] 3.50 [Waiting Time] None, 5 people inside [Service] Excellent [Would Visit Again] Yes [Payment Method] Cash accepted [Dish Ordered] Fish Sauce Tsukemen (Large) [Noodles] Medium-thick straight noodles (cold serving, 300g, whole wheat) [Toppings] Seaweed, shellfish, menma (in dipping sauce), pork chashu (2 slices), chopped scallions, yuzu peel [Soup] Fish-based soy sauce The fish sauce tsukemen allows you to choose between hot or cold, with the same price for small (150g with half-boiled seasoned egg), regular (200g), large (300g), or extra-large (400g) portions. The noodles had a smooth and chewy texture with a good firmness, and a nice flavor from the whole wheat. The dipping sauce had a mild taste with a hint of fish powder and a subtle touch of yuzu peel, which complemented the noodles perfectly. The presentation of seaweed was flavorful, and the bitterness of the shellfish added a nice touch. The only downside was that the chashu was slightly chewy, but overall it was delicious and enjoyable.

The other day, I had a delicious fish sauce ramen, so I was curious about the dipping noodles and decided to try them. I ordered the special dipping noodles with extra chashu, egg, and seaweed. The rich flavor of the fish broth was also delicious, but because there was a lot of noodles, the dipping sauce tended to get a bit diluted. Personally, I prefer ramen. The chashu bowl had a complex flavor, but the rice itself wasn't that great, so I don't think I'll order it again next time. The fried chicken, on the other hand, was consistently delicious, so I definitely want to order it again next time. Thank you for the meal.

I visited for the first time during lunchtime. I ordered the seafood soy sauce ramen with chashu and flavored egg, as well as a side of fried chicken. The ramen had a strong punch of seafood and soy sauce flavors but was still easy to eat. It was delicious and exactly to my liking. The chashu and menma were also tasty. The noodles were firm and had a good texture, and the soup was so flavorful that just thinking about it makes me want to eat it again. I also heard good things about their tsukemen, so I'm curious to try that next time. I definitely want to come back again.

I had plans in the direction of Ichijoji Temple, so I decided to have ramen. As expected, every shop had a line. I prepared myself and lined up at this shop. I purchased a ticket for tsukemen at the ticket machine outside the shop and waited for about 20 minutes. The highly anticipated seafood tsukemen arrived. As shown in the photo, it had aonori seaweed on top, which enhanced the sea flavor when eaten with the noodles. Adding a little vinegar garlic halfway through eating gave it a different delicious taste. The balance between the soup and noodles was good, and the fact that you can have up to 400g of noodles for the same price is amazing! The staff's customer service and manners were also solid, making it a great shop in my opinion.

This shop is the famous "Tsurukame Main Store" in Kawaramachi, Kyoto. It is located in a corner of Ramen Street in Ichijoji. I visited around 6 pm on a weekday and was able to enter without waiting in line. I tried the Nishikyo miso tantan tsukemen (¥900) and it was delicious! The noodles are medium thickness noodles with whole grain flour. They are firm and have a great texture. The dipping sauce is thick and rich in Nishikyo miso flavor. It is topped with chili oil, but it is not too spicy. I felt like it had a bit more punch compared to the main store's dipping sauce. However, the Nishikyo miso dipping sauce is truly unique. It paired perfectly with the noodles. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

Under the cold sky, I ventured into Ichijoji in search of delicious ramen, only to find out that the shop I was looking for was closed (it was their regular holiday). So, I decided to visit Ichijoji Tsuru-kame, a shop that had caught my eye every time I passed by. I parked my bike outside and went to the ticket machine outside the shop. I debated between the Mataba-style, Miso Tan Tan, or Spicy Tsukemen for a while, and finally decided on the Spicy Tsukemen. I also added a seasoned boiled egg as a topping. I entered the shop and sat at the counter seat at the far end. A staff member quickly came to take my ticket, and I mentioned that I wanted the largest noodle portion. Of course, I chose the extra-large size! While waiting, I checked the condiments on the table - there was Sansho pepper, Shichimi pepper, vinegar, garlic vinegar, and more. After a while, my Spicy Tsukemen with seasoned boiled egg arrived for 1000 yen. The dipping sauce looked quite spicy. The Tsukemen came with plenty of noodles, bamboo shoots, seaweed, and green onions. The noodles were thick and chewy, with a nice wheat flavor. When dipped in the spicy sauce, the noodles had a good kick to them, along with the aroma of seaweed. There were also thinly sliced pork in the sauce. I tried adding some garlic vinegar to the noodles for a refreshing flavor. Lastly, I finished the meal by adding the soup broth to the remaining sauce. I wonder what kind of dipping sauce I should try next time. Thank you for the meal!

In Kyoto, there is a fierce battleground for ramen in Ichijoji. Recently, there are long lines at places like Kyokutei and Takayasu, but there is a hidden gem that is incredibly delicious yet doesn't have long lines. Unlike the touristy places where people line up because of its rarity or because they saw it on TV or in a magazine, this place, Tsurukame, is where local students secretly come to enjoy really delicious ramen. This is the most impressed I've been with ramen recently.

I visited Tsurukame Ichijo-ji store for the first time. I have been to the Kawaramachi store a few times, so I had a rough idea of the taste. It was clever to have a ticket machine outside the store since there is only a counter and limited space inside. The firm noodles with seafood-based dipping sauce were delicious. Next time, I will try the ramen.

La Festival. Nishikyo miso tantan tsukemen with karaage set. The La Festival is in its final stages. The noodles can be changed from small to extra large 400g, which is a nice option. The flavor is a rich dipping sauce with a strong dashi base, topped with flavorful chashu. On top of the noodles there are sweet menma, green onions, wakame, and shredded red chili pepper. The noodles, slightly firm, are dipped in the sauce and enjoyed! Miso is the best in Kyoto. It would have been nice if the noodles were a bit colder for the hot summer, but still delicious. The option for extra noodles is appreciated. The set includes two large pieces of karaage and rice. The karaage is tasty, but there is a lot of salt on the side. Chili pepper, pepper, and sansho are available on the table. You can also add soup to your noodles, allowing for different flavor combinations. Overall, it was a delicious meal!

This is also a review of the actual food in August 2019. "Ichijoji Tsurukame" in the fiercely competitive area of Ichijoji in Kyoto. This place is also a popular restaurant in Teramachi, Kyoto, "Tsurukame Honten". This Ichijoji branch is also a popular spot. This time, it's a revisit, and since it's an old review, I'll keep it simple. In August 2019, I had the chilled sudachi (Japanese citrus fruit) dressed noodles. It had been a while since my last visit. I think the last time was in 2017. Sometimes I even forget to write on Tabelog, but that's how it is on Tabelog. Come to think of it, I first had this chilled sudachi at this Ichijoji branch. Since then, I have been looking forward to it every year. Just hearing the name might give the impression that it's sour and tangy because of the sudachi, but it's not like that. The refreshing taste of sudachi and the slightly sweet broth are well balanced, providing a cool and delicious experience full of refreshing sensations during the hot summer. The chashu (sliced pork) and menma (bamboo shoots) are also well-prepared, giving a satisfying feeling of having eaten a proper meal. I really like chilled noodles. But on this day, the broth was a bit weak. The sudachi was a bit overpowering. Well, it was delicious though.

Tsurukame is a popular ramen shop in the area near Ichijoji in Kyoto. It is the third branch following the main store in Teramachi and the Rokkaku store. They offer small (100g) to extra large (400g) portions for the same price. I went with a friend and we ordered the limited-time cold sudachi mixed noodles (large size for ¥900) and the seafood soy sauce dipping noodles (extra large for ¥820). The cold sudachi noodles had a refreshing sourness from the sudachi fruit, perfect for early summer. We also got the silver rice and 2 pieces of fried chicken set for ¥200, both of which were delicious. Despite the large portions, the shop attracts not only young male students but also people of all ages. It was clear that they prioritize both quantity and quality of their food. I am looking forward to trying their dipping noodles next time.
