At Marutake Ebisu in Kyoto, they serve delicious grilled fish skin with sake from Gekkeikan. It's known as "Higashirikishi" and it's highly recommended. Also, don't miss out on their Chashu Egg dish. #New Shinmachi #Gekkeikan barrel sake #Higashirikishi #Marutake Ebisu #Kyoto

This is my favorite place in the whole city! I really love it! New Shinmachi is the best! They serve Worcester sauce in abundance, delicious potato salad, ham cutlet, and the best highball with lemon. The highball here is so good. It's a place full of memories for me. #food #foods #beer #beerstagram #Kyoto #Kyoto gourmet #izakaya #drinks #memorable place #red lantern

On the second night of my business trip in Kyoto, I visited a restaurant recommended by a friend for some solo gourmet dining. I ordered a beer along with today's evening appetizers and sashimi. Unfortunately, the evening appetizer I was looking forward to, eggplant simmered in broth, was not available as they forgot to update the menu. Feeling disappointed, I decided to try the recommended potato salad and rolled omelette instead. The potato salad arrived first, and despite the generous amount of sauce, the combination of Worcestershire sauce and mayonnaise was surprisingly delicious. The sashimi and rolled omelette followed shortly after. The sashimi was fresh and the bonito in particular stood out. The rolled omelette was moist with a flavorful broth. The beer went down too easily as everything was so delicious! If I stayed any longer, I would have ended my night after just one restaurant visit. This place was so good that it made me crave for the eggplant dish I missed out on. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely come back again! Revisit rating ★★★★

Thank you for reading this article. Likes and comments are encouraging. I will continue to update a lot, so I would be grateful if you could save or follow. Sashimi assortment available until 1 am at night. When I asked for extra large grilled clams, they added them at a reasonable price and they were delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

A few minutes walk from Karasuma Station and Shijo Station. I stopped by here today. The first floor of the restaurant has counter seats and tables, and there is also a second floor where you take off your shoes before going up. The menu is mainly focused on seafood. I ordered the salt-grilled sea bream, fried cartilage, two types of horse sashimi, and a draft beer. Let's dig in! First, the salt-grilled sea bream arrived. I thought it would mainly be the skin, but it actually had a thick piece of meat attached, which was nice. However, it was a bit too salty. The fried cartilage was the usual kind, nothing special, but it was served piping hot. Finally, the horse sashimi arrived. It took quite a while to come out, maybe because it needed time to thaw. The draft beer wasn't enough, so I also ordered a bottled beer to finish off. Overall, it was a satisfying meal! The restaurant had a lively atmosphere. They don't serve any appetizers, so it's also a good place for just a casual drink.

I had been curious about this popular izakaya with vinyl curtains in Shijo Karasuma for a while. The fried taro was crispy with a light batter and seasoned perfectly, very delicious. The hokke fish was big and juicy. The staff were friendly. I ended up spending the price of two bars after drinking for about 4 hours, but if you drink normally, you should be able to get away with half that amount.

It is a trendy new-style restaurant in Kyoto. It has a red lantern-like atmosphere and overall delicious food, but it gives off a slightly expensive impression. However, it has a great izakaya vibe and offers a variety of enjoyable dishes. The signature potato salad is available in a half size, which may be better for two people. The most delicious dish was the minced tuna and green onion, which makes you wonder why it wasn't available before. The raw beef heart sashimi was also fresh and tasty. If it were about 20% cheaper, it would be perfect. Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/2-lpdUhWc30

My colleague arrived in Kyoto at 8pm, so we decided to have a somewhat late drinking party. We found a nice place a bit off the beaten path from Karasuma and decided to go in. I was surprised by the jumbo potato salad, but other than that, it was a pretty standard restaurant. I ended up drinking a lot of sake.

I was intrigued by the unique appearance of the restaurant and ended up entering. It was past 11 PM after work, and I went in alone. The counter was relatively empty, making it easy for a solo diner to enter. The recommended dishes for May were the chicken shell sashimi, scallop butter, and the famous potato salad. I ordered the potato salad in half portion, which was convenient for one person. As the grilling was finished due to the time and last order was approaching, I finished with an onigiri. Seriously, the punch of this onigiri was no joke, my stomach is so full now. I had one beer and three highballs, and miraculously it didn't even cost 3000 yen! The staff was very funny and cute, and the food was delicious. It was a fun experience at this restaurant! Thank you for the meal!!!

After enjoying all the sake breweries in Nara, I hopped on the Kintetsu line towards Kyoto. I got off at Shijo-Karasuma and noticed a restaurant a few buildings down from my hotel. I had been wanting to try this place for a while, so I couldn't resist. Despite feeling a bit full already, I went in and managed to snag a seat at the counter. I ordered a beer, asparagus appetizer, and salted mackerel. The asparagus dish was a perfect blend of texture and flavor, with a hint of fried tofu. The mackerel was juicy and paired well with beer or sake. I also ordered a traditional rolled omelette with dashi, which was incredibly tasty. By the end of the meal, I was pleasantly drunk and satisfied. I plan to revisit this place on my next trip to Kyoto. However, I woke up in the bathroom in the early hours of the morning, reminding myself of the saying "you won't get better until you die," before stumbling back to bed.

I drove from Gujo Hachiman to Imizu, then to Toyama, and finally to Kyoto. I was exhausted and decided to go to Umano Toho near my check-in location. Unfortunately, I couldn't get in as they close at 10 pm, so I ended up going to New Shinmachi. The prices were higher than I expected, but they had fresh raw noodles, which I ordered as a snack. However, I was disappointed because they were boiled noodles, not what I had hoped for. Feeling let down, I didn't order anything else and ended up buying snacks for 1,340 yen for a cheap drinking session. In the end, I ended up drinking in my room while working.

Christmas, Saturday, 5:30 PM Open at 5:31 PM, 2 people waiting. Nanban fried chicken → ❌ Tastes like flour. Rice ball with mentaiko → Average. Good size, Ume jellyfish → Average. Happy to see it on the menu. Plum wine soda → Average. Pork kimchi → Too sweet for my liking. Sashimi → Average. Usually good value and tasty, but didn't taste as good this time.

After enjoying a cherry blossom walk in Kyoto, we stopped by for gyoza and then headed to a second place. Located a little west of Karasuma on Shijo Street, this izakaya had a vinyl sheet entrance. Inside, there were table seats on the left and counter seats on the right. They offered typical izakaya menu items at reasonable prices. However, I was surprised that none of the staff were wearing masks, especially during the current pandemic. I believe this reflects a lack of hygiene awareness on the part of the management rather than the staff.

As always, the cost performance is great at 3.0! The second and third visits were enjoyable. The staff are very friendly and provide excellent service. When I visited this time, many items were sold out (around 11pm). I hope there will be more available next time.

Today, I was drinking in Shijo with my gym friends. It was getting close to the last train time, but we decided to hit up one more bar. We went to a restaurant called "New Shinmachi" which is part of the "New" retro izakaya series like New Ebisu no and New Miyoshi. It's located at the corner of Shijo Shinmachi. The restaurant serves seafood dishes at a reasonable price and stays open until 1 am. The atmosphere inside is like a typical popular izakaya, which is cozy for us older folks (^-^). We started with a toast and ordered some light dishes. We had scallop sashimi, which was soft and large, enjoyed with lemon and wasabi soy sauce. We also had minced tuna and green onion with seaweed, which was a nice appetizer. It was a great place to have a drink at a reasonable price, with quick service and tasty food.

I went to New Shinmachi after a long time. I arrived at 6:30 pm on a weekday and there were still some empty seats available. I started with a bottle of beer. I ordered dishes like namerou, seseri, and raw tuna. The namerou had a good portion size and was recommended. The seseri was consistently delicious. The makgeolli was slightly carbonated and tasty, making it easy to drink but with a dangerous aroma (lol). The tamago kake gohan for the finale was delicious and had good value. I want to eat here again. I will come back♪

I took someone from Tokyo who was visiting Kyoto to a local restaurant that is affordable and delicious. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to get in as soon as they opened. We tried their famous potato salad, grilled tuna collar, horse sashimi, and more. They were very pleased with the meal. It was a great dining experience. Thank you for the meal!

Located near the office district of Karasuma and Shijo, this place stands out from its surroundings. It is part of the "New ○○" chain which has several branches in Kyoto. After having a light drink elsewhere, I decided to stop by here alone before taking the subway. Luckily, there was a vacant seat at the counter. This chain of restaurants is always popular, but this particular location seems to be busier than others. People of all ages and genders, from elderly individuals to groups of young people, always fill up the place. The menu is very extensive, with daily fresh fish recommendations, making it hard to choose. Since it was my second stop of the night, I decided to keep it light and ordered "Salmon Sashimi" and "Onion Slices". I also had a "Highball" which was reasonably priced at 390 yen. The salmon sashimi was fresh and delicious, and the onion slices were generous in portion with a big yolk in the middle. It was a bit too much for one person, but it's important to get some vegetables for health reasons. The menu offers a variety of options and overall quality is good. The prices for fresh fish are a bit high, but worth it. The location is convenient, the atmosphere is welcoming, and it's easy for solo diners to come in. Groups can also enjoy dining here.

The staff members communicate energetically and cheerfully with each other. The menu is diverse and reasonably priced. In addition to sashimi and namerou, we also tried the chicken nanban, which was delicious. The counter seating also seems convenient to use.

I went to a nice casual izakaya in Kyoto after a long time. These types of restaurants are common in Tokyo, but I haven't been to many in Kyoto. The menu layout was good. The potato salad was delicious. It's a good restaurant with cheap and tasty food, isn't it?
