The other day, I was driving north on Route 1 when I stopped at a traffic light right next to this restaurant. Although I often drive past this restaurant by car, I only noticed its existence for the first time this time. I checked the restaurant on Tabelog and found only one review with limited information. Intrigued, I decided to have lunch at this restaurant. There is only space for about 2-3 cars in front of the restaurant, but as expected, there is a space for about 10 cars in the back. I arrived at the restaurant around noon, and there were already a few cars parked in the garage in the back. Upon entering the restaurant, I saw three groups of customers and a couple of salarymen at the counter. The atmosphere inside was calm and not really suitable for young people. I sat at the counter (I may not be considered young, but I was probably the youngest customer that day). The counter had 10 seats, and there were about 5 sunken kotatsu-style seats in the restaurant. While looking around, I couldn't find a menu, but the staff kindly provided me with a lunch menu board. I ordered the Chef's Choice Lunch Set with sashimi and chawanmushi for 900 yen. While waiting, I noticed various menu items written above the counter seats, with prices ranging from 120 yen for tamago to 700 yen for toro. After about 10 minutes, my order arrived. The sashimi consisted of two pieces each of sea bream and squid, and three pieces of yellowtail. The sea bream was firm and all the pieces were cut slightly thick. The mackerel simmered in soy sauce, though small in size, was very delicious. The chawanmushi was small but contained eel, chicken, kamaboko, and ginkgo nuts, with a subtle flavor of kabosu adding an elegant touch. The miso soup with wakame, enoki mushrooms, and green onions had a taste similar to that of a sushi restaurant's miso soup and was also very tasty. If you don't mind citrus flavors like yuzu or kabosu, I highly recommend the chawanmushi for just 100 yen more. Lastly, when I asked the chef about the yellowtail, he showed me the actual fish and kindly provided me with information. Despite my personal criteria that may lower the cost performance of upscale restaurants, I rated this restaurant 4 out of 5 objectively. If you enjoy elegant dishes in small portions, I recommend this lunch. It may not be suitable for young or hearty eaters who prioritize quantity over quality, but it would be appreciated by those in a more mature age group.
