I met up with my parents at my hometown and had lunch before staying at "Risanya no Kyujitsu." The food was amazing and the train models were a specialty of the restaurant, creating a great atmosphere. Overall, it was a great experience.

I was able to enjoy delicious Sanuki Udon in a place like this. The restaurant is decorated with model trains, and even the table numbers are designed like train cards. I had to leave quickly because it was lunchtime and my train was approaching, but it's a place where you can enjoy both the atmosphere and the food.

I found a restaurant near Kameoka Station and saw a sign for Sanuki udon, so I decided to go in. The interior was compact with only counter seats, and it was almost full of what seemed to be regular customers, but I was able to sit at the counter without waiting. I looked at the menu and ordered the "Oyakodon set meal" (850 yen). The bowl contained tempura bits, fish cake, green onions, and a serving of udon noodles with a clear light soy sauce broth. The broth had a gentle dashi flavor, with a mild soy sauce saltiness and acidity. The noodles were uneven in thickness, boiled and then warmed in hot water before serving, with a firm chewy texture that was delicious. The Oyakodon was made with chicken, onions, and green onions cooked in a sweet udon broth with plenty of sugar, resulting in a strong sweet flavor. Since this restaurant specializes in udon noodles, the kama tamago udon might be a better choice to fully appreciate their noodle quality.

When I was a child, I used to spend every summer vacation at my relative's house near Yunohana Onsen, taking a bus from Kameoka Station. It was a nostalgic place where I played in the mountains and fields. Back then, the Sanin Main Line still ran along the Uzuragawa River, and the steam locomotive was still in service. Now, a soccer stadium has been built behind the station, completely changing the area. I was looking for a place to have lunch, but there weren't many restaurants near the station. Finally, I found "Sanukitei Seimenjo" where they also served lunch. Inside the restaurant, there were many railroad goods on display, and even an N-gauge railway track on the counter. The owner must be a train enthusiast. I ordered the minced cutlet set meal. The food arrived in about 5 minutes. The udon noodles were soft, similar to Nanba udon style. The minced cutlet seemed to be frozen, but surprisingly delicious with a greasy and junky taste. I was full after the meal. It was impressive to see local elderly men and women enjoying their udon and chatting. It felt like a social gathering place in the town.

I stopped by a restaurant in Kameoka, Kyoto before heading to watch the Kyoto Sanga F.C. vs. Zweigen Kanazawa match. Despite the small size of the station, it was crowded with a lot of people, making it difficult to find a place for lunch. I decided to order curry udon with tempura, but they seemed hesitant about the curry udon. My friend tried to order tempura udon, but they said they couldn't make tempura today, so they ended up with kakiage udon. I couldn't really tell the difference between kakiage and tempura. The broth was light, lacking in curry flavor and saltiness, so it lacked depth of flavor. The udon, which was made in Kagawa, was not bad, but the noodles were sticky and difficult to eat. Despite the polite service, it was a bit disappointing.

Today's lunch was at "Sanuki-tei Seimenjo" located in front of JR Kameoka Station (south side). It was my first visit. I ordered Tempura Udon for 800 yen (tax included) and it arrived in about 10 minutes. The tempura included shrimp, sweet potato, pumpkin, shiitake mushroom, and eggplant covering the udon bowl!! There was also a slice of fish cake and green onions. The udon was barely visible under all the tempura. I removed the tempura to get to the udon. Wow!! This is definitely hand-made udon!! It had a nice chewy texture similar to what you would find in Kagawa prefecture!! The tempura was tasty as well. The portion size was generous!! The broth seemed a bit lacking, perhaps absorbed by the tempura batter. Next time, I'll try the "kake udon" to fully enjoy the udon and broth together! Thank you for the meal!

No matter what the local cuisine is like, when you hear about Sanuki udon, you can't help but be curious. Located near JR Kameoka Station in Kyoto Prefecture, there is a famous shop called Ikemachi Seimenjo, where the owner trained for about a year. The menu mainly consists of hot broth udon, and there doesn't seem to be cold udon available. One of the few cold udon options is the Oroshi Shoyu Kake Udon for 600 yen (tax included). At first glance, the noodles appear very white and stiff, almost like they won't lift straight up when picked up. The noodles are very firm, almost like they're hard. The grated radish topping is also very spicy, almost as spicy as radish. It was quite surprising. It's like a specialty udon that focuses on firmness. It reminded me of the famous "Echizen Oroshi Soba" from Fukui Prefecture. If you like that kind of flavor, then this udon is for you. Thank you for the meal.

Today's lunch was at "Sekainosanukitei Seimenjo", an udon restaurant located next to the rotary on the south side of Kameoka Station. The storefront displays a suspicious beckoning cat. The interior of the restaurant consists of only an L-shaped counter, with additional seating behind a curtain. The udon menu includes traditional Sanuki udon with soy sauce-based broth. They also offer set meals, all at affordable prices. I chose the "Minced Cutlet Set Meal" for 650 yen. A pot of tea is served, with multiple tea pots scattered on the counter. Beneath the counter's tabletop, there is a model train track. This unique touch reflects the local area. The restaurant seems to take pride in their udon, with stacks of Sanuki flour visible in a corner. The dishes served may appear modest, but are accompanied by a flavorful soy sauce broth. The minced cutlet is thin and flavorful, with a rich sauce. The udon noodles have a firm texture, typical of Sanuki udon, although the thickness varies. Due to the late hour, the edges of the noodles were not as fresh. Overall, this udon restaurant offers a unique dining experience near the main station in the city.

Having dinner at a udon restaurant near Kameoka Station. It takes quite some time because they make the tempura and boil it after taking your order. I ordered a katsudon set with kakiage as an option. The katsudon has a strong dashi flavor and the udon is delicious. Not recommended for those who want to eat quickly, but it's quite good.

I visited this restaurant for a meal on my way to Kameoka Station after attacking the Tamba Kameyama Castle. The owner welcomed me and I sat at the L-shaped counter near the entrance. I ordered the "Tamba Kameyama beef udon" instead of the "egg over rice set" I initially wanted. The udon was delicious with a flavorful broth and a mix of thick and thin noodles that had a smooth texture but a satisfying chewiness. The portion of rice was just right. I enjoyed the meal and will definitely visit again. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The experience of making your own udon noodles is great, and the ones made from the noodles you grew yourself are delicious. I also love the thick noodles.

This is a Sanuki udon restaurant near Kameoka Station. It's a bit unique with a beckoning cat at the storefront. I topped my udon with kama-age udon and tempura. The broth was quite rich and I liked it. The noodles are made with wheat flour from Sanuki, so they had a good texture. The prices are a bit high, but the taste is not bad, so it might become popular.

I visited before going to work in Shin-Osaka. I didn't have a good impression last time, but this time I had high hopes when entering. I ordered the pork cutlet rice bowl set after looking at the menu. Soon, the udon arrived. It was just average as before. As I finished the udon, the pork cutlet rice bowl finally arrived. It seemed a bit too soupy. I took a bite. It was tough! Extremely tough. The pork cutlet was so tough, it was the worst. I managed to finish it and left. Well, I probably won't be going back again.

The restaurant is located near the south exit of Kameoka Station, but it is a bit hidden and may be difficult to find. The map marker on this site accurately points to the restaurant, so it may be helpful to refer to it. There is no parking available at the restaurant, but there is a SEIYU parking lot nearby where you can park for free for the first two hours. Inside the restaurant, there is only an L-shaped counter for seating. In addition to udon dishes, there are also some set meal options available. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any cold udon dishes on the menu, which is disappointing for those who prefer to eat cold udon like myself. I decided to order the fried chicken set meal, while my companion chose the kama-age udon. The service seemed a bit rushed, but the food arrived promptly. The fried chicken was a bit cold, and the rice had a strong jar aroma. The kama-age udon was served in a small size and had a light broth, making the flavor of the udon stand out. Overall, the udon seemed a bit overcooked. I also tried some of the kama-age udon, but the dipping sauce was not to my liking. The uneven cutting of the noodles may have been the cause. The prices of the set meals were reasonable at ¥700 each. The restaurant seems to have many regular customers and has a strong connection to the local community. It was a typical local restaurant experience.

I was in Kameoka for work. The restaurant is located just a little west of the rotary at the station. It seems to be run by a female owner and a male owner. I wanted to try the "Sesame Salad Udon" made with Kameoka vegetables for ¥900, but since it was my first time at the restaurant, I decided to start with the basic "Udon with grated radish and soy sauce" for ¥600. I added pumpkin and eggplant tempura as a topping. The noodles were quite firm and had a good chewy texture. The grated radish and broth were also well balanced. I plan to try the "Sesame Salad Udon" next time.

On the final day of Silver Week, I was coerced into helping with rice planting in Higashi-Maizuru. On my way back, I decided to get off at Kameoka because the express fare is cheaper (going to Kyoto would cost around 400 yen more). Plus, the fare to Takatsuki doesn't change much in the end even if you get off at Kameoka. So, I headed to this udon restaurant in Kameoka. It's run by someone who trained under the famous Rumibaba, but I wouldn't have gotten off at Kameoka if it weren't for this opportunity. However, when I arrived before 6 pm, the restaurant was closed. It turns out they open at 6:30 pm due to the lunch service running late and delays in purchasing ingredients. The menu mostly consists of kake udon dishes, with my favorite bukkake udon missing. The set meal options include dishes like fried white fish or croquettes, giving the impression that udon isn't their main focus. Inside, I noticed a Kameoka beef menu, featuring beef bowl and mini udon set meal. I opted for that. Although the udon is primarily kake udon, they can make bukkake udon upon request. The beef cutlet bowl had a generous amount of onions in a light egg and rice dish. The beef cutlet was crispy and fairly tasty, but a bit tough to chew. The udon, requested with cold broth, had a small amount of broth. When I asked for more flavor, they suggested adding soy sauce, which made it taste like bukkake udon. The broth had a Sanuki-like taste and was delicious. The udon noodles were firmer compared to Osaka's Sanuki udon, more like those served at self-serve udon shops. If you come for the udon, you might be slightly disappointed. Personally, I would appreciate more udon menu options (clearly indicating bukkake, etc.) and the option for extra-large servings.

JR Sagano Line (San'in Main Line) Kameoka Station, there is a udon restaurant located a little further back from the rotary, making it somewhat difficult to find. You can find it by entering next to the lottery ticket sales booth. There is a large beckoning cat plush at the entrance, making it quite noticeable when you get close. I really wanted it... The impact of the beckoning cat remains strong, more so than the taste. Personally, I don't really understand the difference between Sanuki udon and other udon, so I can't say much about that, but the udon itself is quite firm and delicious. The prices are a bit higher compared to chain udon restaurants, but set meals are available for under 1000 yen, making it feel like a regular udon restaurant in terms of pricing. It might even be considered affordable.

I had to go to the station for work and was thinking about what to eat when I remembered this udon restaurant and decided to go in. It was around 12:30 pm. I peeked inside, wondering if it was crowded, but there was only one other customer. It felt a bit lonely for lunchtime. I looked at the menu, debated for a bit, and ended up ordering the fried chicken set meal. The other customer finished eating and left, leaving me alone. Despite it being lunchtime, it felt a bit empty. While waiting, I was served pickles, rice, and then the udon arrived. I started eating the udon and noticed it was lukewarm. The broth was too mild. Even though it was a set meal, the portion of noodles was small. I tried the broth, but it lacked depth and flavor. I felt like it was tastier the last time I had it. As I was eating, the fried chicken finally arrived. At first glance, I wondered if it was frozen. Unfortunately, what could have been a nice lunch turned out to be disappointing. I might not feel like revisiting anytime soon.
