Today I went leaf-peeping in Kyoto. After visiting Arashiyama, Jozan Koji Temple, and Nisonin, I stumbled upon this restaurant to take a break. It's located near Nisonin, but despite being in a touristy area like Kyoto, the lack of reviews (only 2 when I checked) suggests that it might be a hidden gem. There are cute models outside showcasing the menu. Inside, there were about 5 tables, but only one elderly female group as customers on a weekday. I took a seat at an empty table by the corner. Now, what should I order? It was chilly, so I could have warmed up with a hot coffee, but I also had a slight hunger, so I decided to go for the mochi zenzai (700 yen). It was a warm zenzai with roasted mochi and chestnuts. It was perfect for warming up my cold body after walking around outside. After the elderly ladies left, I had the place to myself and was able to relax leisurely.

Around 3 o'clock, no one was inside the store, so my friend and I thought we could relax and entered. The outside menu was made of cute miniature clay, so we decided to go in. They also serve lunch for 1000 yen. I ordered a matcha set for 700 yen, which came with a choice of traditional Japanese sweets, and I chose warabi mochi. The handmade warabi mochi looked delicious and went well with the matcha. The atmosphere was very quiet and the staff was friendly, making it a very relaxing place. The name of the shop is also lovely. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

Next to Nison-in Temple, on the way to Gio-ji and Takiguchi-dera Temple... The miniature sample menu outside is so cute and just looking at it makes you feel warm inside. The menu mainly consists of sweets, perfect for a break during a leisurely autumn stroll in the scenic Arashiyama area! I ordered a coffee float, but when it arrived, there was no ice cream on top of the cafe au lait? Without thinking, I asked my companion, "Isn't a float supposed to have ice cream?" Upon hearing this, the staff explained, "The ice cream is actually inside." Ah, I see now - the glass is filled with a generous serving of chocolate chip ice cream. My companion's Oyakudon was also delicious, according to them.
