I saw a café on Instagram where you can listen to relaxing music. I thought the shortcake looked delicious, so I decided to visit. I was shown to a counter seat, and when I asked if I could sit in a sofa seat, I was pointed to the wall with the chin. I asked again, and was told to "read the notice before asking." I looked around and saw a sign saying "Sofa seats will incur a charge." I may have missed it, but I didn't appreciate the attitude of the owner. The cake and coffee were delicious, but nothing special. Combined with the owner's attitude, I don't think I will be a repeat customer. Thank you for the meal.

The famous cafe Yurakudou is located on the second floor of the same building as the bakery. You can buy bread on the first floor and enjoy it on the second floor. The cakes and apple pie are delicious. I had coffee and cheesecake. The cakes were ordered from a hotel and we were able to relax and enjoy our time there.

I visited the long-established cafe Yagizuki-do located right near Demachiyanagi Station in Kyoto. It was during Golden Week so I was worried it might be crowded, but when I went around 3 pm, I was able to get in right away. It was a cozy and hidden gem cafe that I almost don't want to tell others about. They had a listening room with classical music and a conversation room. I went with a friend and we spent time in the conversation room. I ordered a strawberry shortcake and coffee. The shortcake was amazing with just the right amount of sweetness, light cream, and fluffy sponge that made me want to have more. The calming atmosphere added to the experience.

Hot coffee for 700 yen at this jazz café located right near Demachiyanagi Station. It has a similar vibe to Yamatoya near Kyoto University Hospital, another jazz café I haven't been to but heard of. There used to be one in Kawaramachi as well, I think. I don't usually go to jazz cafés, but I like the atmosphere here. It feels like it was created for the purpose of listening to jazz rather than just being a regular café. Even though I'm not really into music, I like the space. It's cool and kind of captivating. I'm alone, so I'm sitting at the counter. The counter is low and the back bar has a grand Gothic style. Unfortunately, I couldn't take a photo of the whole place because the mirror was reflecting other customers. The coffee is a bit bitter, but it's drinkable with some milk added. Maybe I'll try a café au lait next time. I didn't order any cake because they seemed to have cakes from Okura and Turedo. Even though I'm here alone, I'd like to try sitting in a different room next time.

On Sunday, the strong north wind made it extremely cold, so I took refuge indoors around 1:30 in the afternoon. I had been curious about this Yurizuki-do bakery, which is even listed on Wikipedia. When you go up the stairs next to the bakery, there is an entrance on the right. Inside, to the right, there are counter seats with no cover charge. If you go straight to the back, there is a listening room with a ¥600 cover charge. CDs are displayed at the entrance of the room, and today's selection was a Baroque collection by Yo-Yo Ma and Ton Koopman. The speaker system is top-notch. When you sink into the sofa and listen, the sound feels like it's right in front of you. You can order by writing on the menu and order sheet placed in front of you, without disturbing the listening experience. There are pianos and harpsichords on display, giving the atmosphere a Viennese feel, so I ordered a Viennese coffee. There was a mysterious seat with a conductor's baton placed on it, which I assume is a special seat. The restroom is on the left inside the listening room, and the urinal constantly dribbles water. Even when you press the button, the water doesn't come out forcefully. It may be for noise reduction. If you keep the receipt and show it next time, you get a ¥300 discount.

Apple pie with plenty of cinnamon at a long-established cafe in Kyoto is incredibly delicious. When you climb the stairs, there is a conversation room and a listening room, so I went to the conversation room where it's okay to talk. The listening room is a place where you can't talk, take off your jacket, or use a PC, and it's a room to enjoy music. It felt like I had slipped back in time! #Kyoto #Demachiyanagi #MeikyokuKissaYagetsudo

You can also take out from the bakery Yuzuki-do on the 1st floor. Their cakes are also delicious. This time, I tried the Chocolatine with cold-brewed straight tea. The shop is divided into two areas, so if you want to chat, go to the regular cafe area. The Chocolatine was amazing, even better than it looks, so be sure to try it. The regular cafe area has a nice atmosphere with classical music playing. But the listening room, which requires a 600 yen charge, is outstanding. It may not have the sound quality of CDs or DVDs since they use records, but the ambiance is great. Conversation and noise are strictly prohibited, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the amazing classical music. Have a luxurious time there.

Next to Demachiyanagi Station, there is a bakery on the second floor, which is run by the same owner as a very famous shop in Kyoto. I have known about this place since I was in Osaka, but for some reason, I never went there. I parked my car at the Demachiyanagi parking lot, so on my way back, I decided to have a coffee and maybe a Mont Blanc pastry. The cafe is known for playing classical music, so I had been avoiding it because I thought it was a place where you couldn't chat. However, the cafe actually has a separate area for playing classical music, and the regular seating area also has music playing, creating a nice atmosphere. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter in a small private room where no one else was sitting, feeling like I had the place to myself. The counter reminded me of a bar in London, and it was similar to the one in my kitchen at home, although a bit smaller. I wondered if my kitchen counter would look like this after several decades. I sat there for over an hour, enjoying my coffee and cake while listening to lovely classical music. It felt very peaceful and relaxing, almost like being at home. The coffee and cake were typical of what you would find at a cafe, but the ambiance with the classical music made it a special experience. The cafe had a sign saying that those who want to read or do other activities should sit at the tables in the back. I heard that alcohol is only served on Saturdays for regular customers, which made me wish I could come back and enjoy a whiskey in the small private room as the sun sets, without having to chat with anyone next to me.

In the viewing room and conversation room, absolute silence is maintained. I wanted to immerse myself in high-quality classical music. It's thrilling. The iced coffee is easy to drink. You can enjoy cakes from Hotel Okura Kyoto. You can also purchase bread from the 1F bakery and enjoy it here.

After rereading "Piano no Mori" for the first time in a while, I wanted to listen to classical music in a nice environment, so I came to Yanagitsudou. When I traveled to Tokyo, I was impressed by a place called Lion's Famous Music Café, and I wanted to visit it frequently. However, I don't have the money to afford the charge, drink, and cake, which cost almost 2000 yen each time, so I can't go often. But that's why having a place that can help me feel a little better when I'm not feeling happy every day or when I'm anxious about something is important. Whenever I go there, I feel like things will be okay. I know it sounds a bit spiritual, but it really helps me. I don't have the courage to take out my smartphone and take pictures inside the cafe because I have morals, so I only capture memories of the Kamo River and my favorite "Piano no Mori" on my way there.

Visited the long-established coffee shop "Meikyoku Kissaten Yanagitsukidou," founded in 1954. The founder graduated from Kyoto University's Faculty of Science and established "Bakery Yanagitsukidou" in Demachiyanagi in 1953. "Meikyoku Kissaten Yanagitsukidou" is located on the second floor of "Bakery Yanagitsukidou." I ordered an iced coffee with Melita (¥1450). The iced coffee was quite bitter and not very enjoyable. The Melita was a pear mousse cake. It had just the right amount of sweetness and a good balance of flavors, quite delicious. However, overall, it was a bit... well, I won't go into details for fear of my post being deleted, but you can get a sense by looking at Google reviews. The atmosphere is excellent, and it's a precious Showa-era heritage as a "Meikyoku Kissaten," so it's a shame.

[京都/出町柳] If you bring a friend here, they will think "this person is no ordinary person" at this hidden gem music cafe☕️ Yagizuki-do Music Cafe Chocolat Noir (750 yen) Iced Coffee (750 yen) Do you guys know this place? It's a hidden gem music cafe on the 2nd floor of a building right by Demachiyanagi Station. About 70m from the station. The 1st floor is a bakery. This cafe was amazing, I went there half a year ago and I want to go back! The interior is divided into a "listening room" and a "conversation room", with a 600 yen charge for the "listening room" where silence is the rule. Not just conversation, but also no laptop use or taking off jackets. It's a room for truly enjoying music☺️ The "conversation room" also has music playing at a high volume (4th picture), but talking and taking photos are allowed, so I chose the conversation room. Surrounded by antique furniture, it's a wonderful space✨ The cake I ordered was Chocolat Noir and iced coffee. This Chocolat Noir was incredibly delicious! When it arrived, I thought it looked like ohagi, but it's a cake with chocolate, nuts, banana, and liqueur. The outside is coated with crunchy almonds and chocolate. The texture of the nuts and the rich, smooth chocolate are surprisingly delicious. Seriously, chocolate lovers need to try this. You can also eat the bread purchased on the 1st floor here✨

Listening Room Σ ( ̄ロ ̄lll) Concert Hall? The piano sound was so vivid that I was surprised if the pianist was actually there. Despite thinking it might be intimidating, I was able to relax. The comfortable space is spreading. The high-quality coffee was delicious with a balanced bitterness and acidity.

In the café named "Meikyoku Kissaten Yagetsudo" located in Demachiyanagi, I visited with one family member at 10:30 in the morning. We wanted to buy and eat bread on the first floor, but the bakery was closed, so we only used the café on the second floor. The café has a listening room and a conversation room. We chose to use the conversation room this time. Inside the conversation room, there were tables, chairs, a sofa, musical scores, wine glasses, and even a double bass. There were speakers in the room, and we could listen to classical music there as well. The atmosphere was classical and calm, creating a relaxing space.
The menu includes drinks, cakes, and brownies. You can choose a cake from the "Cake of the Day." Note that there is an additional 400 yen charge for ordering food only.
We both ordered Viennese coffee (800 yen) which was very easy to drink with a mild and smooth taste. When combined with the cream, it had a gentle sweetness that made us want to have more. We also shared the strawberry shortcake (700 yen) which had a fluffy sponge, tangy-sweet strawberries, and smooth cream. It paired perfectly with the slightly bitter coffee.
In conclusion, "Meikyoku Kissaten Yagetsudo" is a wonderful café where you can indulge in an elegant atmosphere. I would love to try the listening room next time I visit.

This is quite a unique cafe where you can listen to music. The seats are lined up in one direction, allowing you to quietly enjoy the music. I was surprised when I walked in! You can bring in products from the bakery on the first floor. There is also a space for conversation, with a counter and high tables where it's okay to talk. So, it seems like talking is not allowed in the sofa seats!

This is a cafe located on the second floor of a building just across the street from Eizan Electric Railway Demachiyanagi Station. It has a music cafe vibe, with a separate listening room that may require an additional fee. The back room seems to be set up for university students to use for seminars or group meetings. The cafe has a certain capacity and the interior is well-designed. It seems like a higher-level cafe in a university area, with a reasonable price of 750 yen for a cup of iced coffee, making it a good place to hang out for a while. The atmosphere and price are perfect for reminiscing about the past. The iced coffee itself was not necessarily better than what you would normally drink, but it's clear that the cost went into the interior design and facility usage. Nevertheless, it's nice to visit this kind of cafe once in a while.

I visited a cafe called Meikyoku Kissaten without knowing much about it, thinking it might be a cafe with music playing. Located on the second floor next to the bakery "Yurizuki-do" in front of the station, I timidly climbed the stairs and entered the quiet atmosphere. An attendant (referred to as "albaita" in the note inside) asked me if I wanted to use the listening room or the conversation room. Not knowing anything, I was confused. The listening room is a space for those who want to listen to records quietly and relax, while the conversation room is a regular cafe space where you can chat. I opted for the listening room, which cost an additional 600 yen. I was surprised when I entered the listening room. It looked like a small piano concert hall, with sofas for two and small tables arranged uniformly facing a stage. The sound coming from the large speakers on the stage was impressive. It felt like listening to an orchestra live when I closed my eyes. I ordered cake and coffee on paper. There were about 5 types of cakes from Hotel Okura and Ture Dou each. I chose Ture Dou's Mont Blanc and Americano. The coffee was served in a gentle-touch mug, probably to avoid making noise. After enjoying the cake, I read a book in the listening room while listening to the music. Other customers seemed to have brought their own books. Requests for records were also possible, and they would play the requested song next if you wrote it in the notebook. Initially, I read a book while listening, but I got carried away by the beautiful music, feeling almost entranced and even getting a bit sleepy. It was truly an experience of the extraordinary! I would like to visit again when I feel tired or have time. The total cost was exactly 2000 yen, including the listening room fee.

There is a music cafe above a bakery where you can also eat the bread sold below. I have never tried it. It is located across the street from Demachiyanagi Station on the Eizan Railway, just a 1-minute walk from Keihan Demachiyanagi Station. The cafe is a place to listen to classical music, with the interior divided into two sections. The Listening Room is a space for concentrating on listening to music without talking, while the regular dining room allows for conversation if kept quiet. The cafe has invested in sound equipment, resulting in slightly higher prices compared to typical cafes, although the drinks are not as strong as those from specialty coffee shops. It may seem unappealing to someone like me who doesn't listen to classical music, but the ambiance is impressive. The interior is amazing, and there are not many places where you can enjoy coffee in such an atmosphere. While classic cafes like Tsukiji and Francois are still around, this place is also one of them. I think it's worth paying for the experience of this space alone.

A music cafe with a listening room. - Strawberry shortcake - Large cream puff - Two-layer cheesecake / Each priced at 550-750 yen. A hidden gem cafe right by Demachiyanagi Station. The first floor is a bakery, and the second floor is a cozy cafe. It has a listening room where classical music plays and talking is not allowed, as well as a conversation room where you can chat. I can't stay quiet and listen to classical music, so I prefer the conversation room. ( ˘ω˘ )

I paid nearly 2000 yen for a drink and cake, which is quite expensive. I got a seat where I could talk, but it was cramped. The cakes seemed to be sourced from a hotel, and they were too sweet for my liking. It wasn't crowded when I went, but if you go on a holiday afternoon, they may not have the variety of cakes listed on the menu. All the cakes I wanted were sold out. The cake I ended up ordering was too sweet. The drinks were pricey and took a while to be served. While you can relax there, the drinks were just average.
