The soy sauce ramen and gyoza were delicious. I recommend it! Despite some critical comments, I personally found it tasty. I ordered the classic soy sauce ramen and gyoza, and I wonder why other bloggers are not impressed. The ramen had a light soup, thin low-water content straight noodles that mixed well with the soup, and the chashu was delicious even on its own. The homemade menma, in particular, had a nice crunchy texture and great flavor. The gyoza was carefully cooked, crispy on the outside, with a delicious soup filling. The balance of vegetables and pork was good, and at 350 yen, it was good value for money. I had the soy sauce ramen and gyoza this time, but I would like to try other items on the menu next time. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by Ramen Hau's at Aya-machi in front of Ayabe Station on April 24, 2022. It's an old Chinese restaurant that has been around for quite some time, run by an elderly couple. In addition to ramen, they offer set menus, gyoza, sweet and sour pork, and chicken dishes, making their menu quite diverse. I ordered the default soy sauce ramen, which arrived after a short wait. The soy sauce broth had a chicken base with a peppery flavor that was quite strong. The noodles were standard Chinese noodles, and the toppings included two slices of chashu, some sliced bamboo shoots, green onions, and a few wood ear mushrooms. The price of a bowl of ramen was surprisingly cheap at ¥680, which added to the overall excitement of the dining experience. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Japan Delicious Food Tour. February 2018. No.681. Number of visits: 783. I used to come to Ayabe City quite often about 30 years ago, but it's been a while since I last visited. However, I must say that the ramen here is not to my taste. I can't quite give it a rating. It seems to be a beloved spot among the locals, but... Thank you for the meal.

I visited a restaurant I used to go to before my cram school during my student days after several decades. The curry fried rice, just like back then, was nostalgic and delicious. I will definitely come back to eat it again.

I went to a ramen restaurant called "Ramen House Tate" near the hotel in Ayabe. The restaurant had an old-fashioned look and was run by an elderly couple. Inside, there were various signatures from different people displayed. I noticed that many restaurants display signatures of celebrities, but often it's hard to tell who they are just by looking at the signature. I decided to order garlic sprout stir-fry since I had already eaten yakisoba at a previous restaurant. I like garlic sprouts because they are a hearty vegetable with a strong flavor. When the dish arrived, it was bright red and looked more like a spicy mapo tofu with garlic sprouts instead of tofu. The meat used was pork belly instead of ground meat. It was very spicy, but delicious. Overall, it was a convenient restaurant with a variety of meal options. I recommend trying it out if you have the chance!

From Fukuchiyama City, take Prefectural Route 8 east. At the intersection south of Ayabe Station's south exit, there is a shop on the left. A little further back, you will find Ramen Umeiya. It seems there is no parking at the shop, so you will have to park at the parking lot in front of the station (150 yen for the first hour, 50 yen for each additional hour). There are about 6-7 counter seats and 2 four-person tables (from memory). I tried the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen and a small bowl of rice. It was near closing time, so they were boiling water and soup in a wok. The soup, despite being advertised as Tonkotsu, was quite clear. Then they added "Soy Sauce Tonkotsu Sauce." Ah, I see... that's how it is. The noodles were checked for doneness with fingers, showing the skill of the chef. The food arrived in about 5 minutes after ordering. The soup had a strong Tonkotsu Shoyu flavor. The current commercial sauce is of high quality. If you don't notice the unnatural sweetness, you might not realize it's a commercial sauce. The toppings included green onions, 2 slices of chashu, and 8 thin menma. The green onions had a slight crunch. The chashu had a strong oxidized smell from pre-cutting. The noodles were medium-thin straight noodles, cooked just right. The rice was terrible. It had a musty smell, no stickiness, and little sweetness. It might be good for making fried rice. The Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen cost 780 yen, and the small rice bowl cost 200 yen, totaling 980 yen. The value for money is poor. The base soup is likely the same for all soups (including the one that comes with fried rice). Smoking is allowed, and I will not be returning.

This was my 44th visit this year (the 43rd was at Ichiriki) and after finishing work in the afternoon in Ayabe City, I went for lunch at Ramen House "Tate" near Ayabe Station. There didn't seem to be any parking available. I entered at 3:05 PM. There were no other customers at the time. I was torn between the Shoyu Ramen for 650 yen and the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen for 750 yen, so I asked the female staff who was managing the place by herself, "Is the Shoyu Ramen not tonkotsu-based?" She replied, "The Shoyu Ramen is just a regular Shoyu Ramen." I inferred that besides the Shoyu sauce, there was also a tonkotsu Shoyu sauce available. I ordered the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen. It arrived in 4 minutes. It looked like a Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen with a chicken-like color. The moist and tender chashu and fresh-looking negi were a pleasant sight. The way the fat floated on the soup was quite to my liking. I tried the soup. I was prepared for it since I was seated at the counter where the cooking process was visible. It was a bit sharp for me. It had a sharpness that tightened the back of my throat. It was a very bold soup, I must say. The noodles were good. They were not too thick, but they were firm with a lower water content straight noodle. The texture was enjoyable, and although there was a hint of kansui in the first half, you could also taste the wheat flavor. This place is located in a shopping street and is open until 1 AM. With a variety of set meals available, it would be convenient for a hearty meal for lunch or dinner, and as a finishing ramen after drinking. This restaurant has been operating as a ramen specialty shop for 34 years, so you can't survive this long without trust, right?

After trying out Bamboo Matsudon and Kanemone and finding that they didn't sit well in my stomach, I decided to stop by JR Ayabe Station for a change. There weren't many options around, but I chose this particular restaurant. From the menu displayed outside, it seemed like they had a variety of ramen options such as soy sauce, miso, pork bone soy sauce, and Kyushu-style pork bone, but what caught my attention was their extensive Chinese cuisine menu. While you could order individual dishes for around 550-600 yen, they also had a good selection of set meals. This time, I ordered the recommended pork bone soy sauce ramen (750 yen). The ramen came with medium-thick noodles in a slightly clear brown soup, topped with green onions, chashu pork, wood ear mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. It had the typical Kyoto-style pork bone soy sauce flavor, reminiscent of places like Daiichi Asahi. The noodles had a nice chewy texture, and the ingredients were decent, with the thick bamboo shoots standing out for their crunchiness. The chashu pork was surprisingly tender and not bad at all. The soup was a bit salty for my taste, but still easy to drink. Overall, it was a typical Kyoto-style pork bone soy sauce ramen, but surprisingly enjoyable. If I visit again, I'll try out some of their other set meal options.

I stayed in Ayabe on a business trip and wandered around with my colleague looking for a place to have dinner, and we ended up here. There aren't many restaurants around Ayabe Station, so it feels a bit lonely. The restaurant has a slightly run-down feel, with two 4-person tables and about 7-8 counter seats. They offer several types of ramen such as soy sauce and tonkotsu, and quite a few set menus without ramen. The only ramen set menu was "Soy Sauce Ramen and Pork Fried Rice Set." I ordered the Soy Sauce Ramen and Pork Fried Rice set with gyoza, while my colleague ordered the Soy Sauce Ramen and Mapo Don separately. The soy sauce ramen had delicious soup, but the noodles, bamboo shoots, and char siu were average. The pork fried rice was a bit greasy but not bad. The gyoza was also average. My colleague thought the ramen was good but wanted more rice in the Mapo Don. Since there aren't many dining options nearby, I think I will eat here more often in the future and try out other menu items.
