Today's lunch was at "Washoku Sorasora" in Sagano, Ukyo-ku. It is a Japanese restaurant located just north of Arashiyama-Koryujiin Station on the Randen line. The restaurant has a clean and simple interior with a counter surrounding the kitchen and table seating available. For lunch, there is only one option available which is the "Obanzai One Plate" for 1200 yen. The lunch is only available on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The meal includes miso soup with flavorful broth, mixed grain rice with a pleasant texture, and a variety of obanzai dishes on a single plate. The fried tofu in the center is hot and rich in broth, complemented by plenty of ginger for a luxurious taste. The sesame tofu salad is also well-balanced. The rolled omelette and simmered hijiki are ordinary but delicious. The freshly fried masu fish is a pleasant surprise. The salad contains a variety of vegetables, and the grated radish sauce is a substantial dish. The dessert, a banana-topped jelly, is intricate. This lunch, with its attention to detail, stands out from typical obanzai lunches. It was a lucky find and a great experience.
