I visited in May 2022. The location is inside Kyoto Station, which is convenient before catching a train. I purchased the Kyoto-style Makunouchi bento for 1,080 yen and the Pork Cutlet Sandwich for 630 yen. I enjoyed them at home. The Kyoto-style bento was light and delicious, and the elegant Pork Cutlet Sandwich was also very tasty. I recommend it.

I planned to have dried herring soba at the Matsuba inside the Shinkansen station, but I missed the last order at 7:30pm. It was the biggest disappointment of the year. I'm debating whether to go to Shin-Fukunai-kan, but I don't have the energy anymore. There are many tourists pulling their suitcases, but there were still plenty of bento boxes left even at this time.

I visited in December 2020. The place is located inside Kyoto Station. I bought Kitty's Pull Octopus Rice Bowl for 1400 yen and Steak & Beef Sukiyaki Bowl for 1100 yen. I ate them at home right away. Both were delicious. Especially, Kitty's Pull Octopus Rice Bowl is a legendary bento and not easy to come by. I highly recommend it.

Inside JR Kyoto Station, on the way to the Shinkansen ticket gates, there is a bento shop. They have a variety of delicious bento boxes, making it hard to choose just one. This time, I tried the "Traveler's Feast Bento", which was luxurious and satisfying. It was filled with a variety of side dishes, each bite had a satisfying texture and was delicious. Taking your time to enjoy each bite is the proper way to eat a bento.

I can't think of any other use for it but (laughs) it's located near the Shinkansen, so you can purchase it and head straight to the smart Shinkansen ticket gate. However, there was a problem and it wasn't a smooth entry, but I just made it to the Shinkansen (laughs). Let's make sure to head to the platform with plenty of time. I thought about buying something from the Ore-no-something store, which I'm not sure if it's related to my series or a copy, but in the end, I went for the station bento. I wish they would provide room temperature water. The summer meal set was just the right amount and allowed me to try a variety of dishes, which was nice.

The Freeken Beef Curry Rice Bowl. When I hear Freeken, I think of the famous restaurant in Namba. Without confirming if this bento is from Freeken, I bought it. It includes curry-flavored beef stew, boiled egg, and half a croquette. The beef stew was watery and had a dull taste. It lacked saltiness. There was no sauce or anything for flavor variation. I couldn't help but think, "Is this really from Freeken?"

My spouse and I planned and successfully completed the "JR West ride" together, so we decided to buy a bento box to commemorate the achievement. Even though it was a short trip from Kyoto to Ibaraki (lol), we stopped by to buy a bento box on our way back in the evening. Despite the limited stock due to the late hour, we managed to find a few bento boxes available. We ordered "Spring Special Bento" for my darling and "Chicken Rice Bento" for me. We enjoyed them on the return JR train ride. I will explore more gourmet options at Kyoto Station next time.

My husband and I, along with our close friends, went on a trip to Kyoto. On our way back to Tokyo on the evening Shinkansen, we bought station bento boxes and bottled tea for dinner. The bento boxes contained white rice, red rice, and squid rice, which caught our attention. The side dishes were nothing special, but the variety added a touch of travel nostalgia. The red rice and squid rice we were looking forward to turned out to be just about the appearance, with only a hint of squid flavor. Good station bento boxes are rare, and sometimes convenience store bento boxes are tastier. In fact, the bento boxes were chosen by the women in our group who wanted to enjoy the travel experience, while the men opted for practicality and bought bento boxes from a convenience store at Kyoto Station.

On the final day of a 5-night, 6-day gourmet and hot spring trip to Kinki, Sanyo, and San'in regions, I visited here. After having breakfast at the accommodation's buffet, I packed up, checked out early, and walked to the nearest station. I took the JR Saga Arashiyama Line to Kyoto Station. I stored my luggage in a coin locker at Kyoto Station, walked to Sanzenin, visited the temple, then took a taxi to Rikyu-ya. I joined a guided tour open to the public, then walked to the nearest station. I took the Saga Arashiyama Line to Kyoto Station, transferred to the Kyoto Line, and got off at Nagaokakyo Station. I waited for about ten minutes at the bus stop in front of the station and took a shuttle bus to attend a reserved training session. I plan to write about the dinner after the training session in a separate article. I returned to Nagaokakyo Station by shuttle bus and then returned to Kyoto Station. I walked around the station area looking for dinner options but couldn't find anything appealing, so I went back to Kyoto Station, retrieved my luggage from the coin locker, and took the Kyoto Line to Shin-Osaka Station. While moving around the station, I found this restaurant and decided to have dinner there to eat on the return Shinkansen ride. There were many bento boxes displayed in the showcase, and I found a new item that caught my eye, so I bought it. Judging from the sample of the Chicken Rice Bento, I thought it was very reasonably priced. Upon arrival at Shin-Osaka Station, I boarded the Shinkansen bound for Tokyo that was already in the station and took a seat in an available unreserved seat. I opened the bento as soon as the train departed. The actual product was different from the sample and was a bit modestly arranged. What I realized as I ate was that it was a product worth its price, and I did not feel satisfied. Next time I visit here, I will consider splurging a bit more to purchase a more luxurious bento.

On November 26, 2016, in the afternoon, I visited the restaurant. This time, I purchased the autumn Makunouchi bento for 850 yen. It included matsutake mushroom rice and was delicious. On May 2, 2016, in the afternoon, I visited the restaurant again. It is located inside Kyoto Station. This time, I bought the spring bento for 950 yen, which is a limited-time offer. When I ate it at home, it had spring-like ingredients, looked bright, and was delicious. It included bamboo shoot rice, sakura mochi, Kyoto obanzai, and grilled fish. It is conveniently located, so I would like to use it again next time. I recommend it for when you are short on time, during your travels, or when you want to enjoy a meal.

On my last business trip of the year, I ended up in Kyoto on Christmas Eve of all days. After finishing a full day of meetings, I bought a bento box at Kyoto Station to enjoy on the train ride back. The bento shop, called "1 Go," was located in the center of the platform where the Thunderbird train arrives and departs. It was a typical bento box stand at the station. I've been eating a lot of meat-based bentos lately, so I wanted to choose something healthier this time, but I ended up giving in to the temptation and went for a beef yakiniku and hamburger bento. Surprisingly, it was relatively cheap. I guess making bento boxes with a variety of ingredients and a fancy presentation actually costs more. What was interesting about this bento box was that it had a string you could pull to heat it up (I think it was a chemical reaction with water and lime). It was my first time trying this type of bento box. I got on the Thunderbird train and pulled the string right away. Although there wasn't much steam, it definitely got warm. When I opened it, it wasn't piping hot, but it was warmed up like it had been microwaved. I was expecting just meat, but there were vegetables in the middle too. Despite being meat-heavy, the variety kept it from getting boring. The meat was tender. I actually liked this bento box better than the "Gyudon" I had the other day. Sorry for the blurry photos, the train was shaking and I couldn't take a clear picture. I tried twice, but I was too hungry to wait any longer to eat.

Location is inside JR Kyoto Station (inside the central ticket gate). During a business trip to Toyama, I discovered this bento shop while traveling from Fukuyama Station, and this is my first time using it. - Date and time of use: August 6, 2014 (Wednesday) around 9:50 am - Atmosphere of the shop: Facing a major passageway, it looks bright and has a welcoming atmosphere. - Customer service: The service was average, but the female staff lacked a bit of friendliness. - Variety of bento: Being located in the bustling Kyoto Station, this bento shop had quite a variety of options, around 20 types. Prices were mainly around 1000 yen. I decided on a 500 yen bento called "Shin Yumekomachi" due to its low price. - What I ate (bought) this time: - Shin Yumekomachi (including tax) for 500 yen: It contained 3 pieces of inari sushi, 3 pieces of cucumber salmon rolls, and 3 pieces of pickled radish rolls. Considering the price, it felt a bit lacking in quantity, but the taste was decent. - Tea for 151 yen: Just a regular Ayataka tea (500ml), priced a bit higher due to the location. In conclusion, I chose based on price this time, but I would like to try the famous bento next time if I have the chance.
