I went to a beer bar in Kawaramachi, Kyoto, produced by a craft beer brewery. The name of the shop is BEER PUB ICHI-YA. To get there, you can walk from Kawaramachi Station towards the Karasuma-Oike direction on Shijo Street. Turn right onto Gokomachi Street and the shop is a short walk away. It's also within walking distance from Karasuma-Oike Station. On the day I visited, they had 10 types of draft beer, mainly from Ichijo-ji Brewery, as well as craft beers from various regions in Japan. The beer comes in two sizes, S (270mL) and L (420mL), priced at 470 yen and 750 yen, respectively, which is quite reasonable. They also offer a beer tasting set where you can try 4 different beers of your choice for 1000 yen. I decided to try different types of black beers to compare their flavors. The food menu is also very extensive and reasonably priced. I recommend trying the Kyoto-style oden and the sausage platter, which comes in a large portion for 680 yen. The fresh cheese is also a must-try. Overall, the food was delicious and satisfying. The interior has both counter and table seating, but I prefer the counter. They are open during the day, making it a great place to stop by for a beer while shopping nearby. Highly recommended!

After leaving the standing bar, I walked to Katsura Station, one stop north, to clear my head. I took a Hankyu train from Katsura Station and got off at Karasuma Station, then decided to head towards Nishiki Market for some sightseeing. It was too crowded there due to the high temperature, so I decided to avoid the crowds and went into a place called "BEER PUB ICHI-YA." This place is a beer restaurant run by "Ichijo Brewery" in Ichijo-ji, Kyoto. I arrived around 1:30 pm and there were no other customers at the time. All the staff members were women, giving the place a unique atmosphere. I sat at a table facing the wall and a female staff member explained the beer menu briefly. I wanted to try different beers, so I ordered the "Craft Beer Flight" for 1,650 yen, which allowed me to taste three types of 180ml beers. The choices were Yuzu Weizen, Destroy Angel IPA, and Terroir Golden. I also ordered the "Cheese Assortment of the Day" and the "Craft Beer Bar's Karaage" as snacks. As for the beers: Yuzu Weizen had a citrusy flavor and was recommended for those who like fruity beers, Destroy Angel IPA had a fruity yet bitter taste, and Terroir Golden had a balanced aroma and richness. The karaage took about 30 minutes to arrive, and while waiting, I ordered a bottle of Belgian Wheat for 1,100 yen. The beers were a bit pricey overall, and the karaage was delicious and juicy. When it came time to pay, the bill seemed higher than expected, and I realized that the bill included two additional items ordered by another customer at a different table. It's important to be cautious about these situations, as it's easy to overlook such errors when intoxicated.

I went alone and planned to have just one drink at the counter, but ended up ordering more. The red konjac in the oden was colorful and Kyoto-like. They said it's from Wakayama, but I think they always have at least 4 types on tap. The craft beer, made with all Kyoto ingredients, was popular at the Ace Hotel, with a deep and flavorful taste. I didn't plan on eating, but ended up ordering two dishes. Well, that also added to the cozy atmosphere.

Travel meal. This is a beer pub where you can enjoy the house-brewed beer of Ichijoji Brewery. The shop is located in the bustling area of Shijo Kawaramachi, about 50m north of Nishiki Market, but this area is not too crowded. In fact, the crowds at Nishiki Market are abnormal. I visited at 5:00 pm just after opening. Still, there were two groups of customers ahead of me. The interior of the shop has a counter in front of the tap, a counter near the entrance, and about 8 table seats. I took a seat at the counter near the entrance and quickly looked at the menu. The house-brewed beer of the day consists of 6 types. In that case, I would go for the beer flight without hesitation. Beer flight (tasting of 3 types) for 1650 yen and cheese assortment for 660 yen. For the beer flight, I chose Belgian Wheat, Stout, and Destroy Angel IPA. All the beers are delicious. They have a faithful taste to their style, which leaves a good impression. The cheese assortment includes smoked cheese, Camembert, and pickled radish cream cheese on a baguette. It's a great deal and very tasty. While watching the people passing by, I enjoyed delicious original beer and cheese, feeling full and satisfied. Since the food menu was also extensive, it was interesting to visit as the first stop. I reluctantly paid the bill. Thank you for the meal.

It's a beer pub that you can visit regularly. I personally recommend their beer tasting sets, where you can enjoy different beers based on your preferences and mood. I stopped by casually one hour before closing time at 10 p.m. The food was already finished, but they were still serving drinks, so I decided to go in. The atmosphere was very cozy and sophisticated, perfect for relaxing alone. They had a variety of craft beers that you wouldn't find everywhere else, and the prices were reasonable. It's a great place to unwind after a long day at work or to ponder things by yourself. I would definitely visit again when I come back to Kyoto. It seems like a good idea to alternate between this craft bar for solo visits and a popular craft beer shop nearby for outings with close friends.

I visited a brewery near Ginkaku-ji called Ichijo-ji Brewery because I heard they serve their beer here. I was also interested in trying the Hassaku White beer from a nearby craft brewery, but unfortunately they were not serving it at the time. My husband and I decided to try the recommended award-winning beers from Ichijo-ji Brewery. The atmosphere in the brewery was mainly couples and male customers, and it was moderately crowded. We tried the Destroy Angel in size S for 770 yen, which won a gold award at the International Beer Cup. It had a slightly higher alcohol content, a solid bitterness, and a rich flavor. We also tried the Belgian Wheat in size S for 770 yen, which had a mild bitterness, a refreshing citrus and coriander aroma, and was easy to drink with a hint of sweetness. Although we only had beer this time, there were various dishes to pair with the beer, and other customers seemed to enjoy them together. The menu included tapas-style dishes like potato salad with cured mackerel and Kyoto-style oden, which seemed quite appealing. This craft beer pub is a convenient place for both tourists and locals to enjoy craft beer easily.

Thursday 18:30 at BEER PUB ICHI-YA. Two groups of customers already seated, with more arriving later. We tried a beer tasting set for 1,650 yen, which included Ume Ale, Joushu White, Sour Vacation, Yuzu Weiss, Lemon Ale, Lupulin Nectar, and Bru-Hi Citrus Mix. We also had Veggie Chips with Cheese for 440 yen, Beer Fritter Assortment for 1,210 yen, and various Grilled Vienna Sausages for 770 yen with sake lees, black shichimi, and hojicha flavors. It felt like we were eating more than drinking, but it was enjoyable. Thank you for the meal.

I should have gone to this place first. I'm not a big fan of beer, but I love craft beer. It was tough to switch from highball to beer after the first drink, so I couldn't drink much. But I enjoyed a delicious beer with a good taste and aroma.

First visit!! I had been curious about this place for a while, so I finally visited. I started with ordering three types of beer (I think it was around 1500 yen?). Each beer had a rich flavor and was very easy to drink, it was amazing. The food was a bit pricey, but I tried the fried chicken breast and the bread with cheese on top, both of which paired perfectly with the beer and were incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I had some free time before an appointment, so I decided to stop by "BEERPUBICHI-YA" on Gojo Street. It's located just a 3-minute walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station. This beer pub is operated by Kyoto craft beer brewery "Ichijoji Brewery". I'm planning to study craft beers this year, so I visited without much prior knowledge. I managed to grab a seat at the counter, as it seemed quite popular. Inside the pub, there was a flavor chart for craft beers, which was helpful for beginners like me. I tried a set of 3 tap beers from Ichijoji Brewery for 1650 yen. The beers included Destroy Angel IPA, Yuzu Weiss, and Red Ale. Lately, I've been enjoying the strong bitterness of IPAs, so the Destroy Angel was to my liking. The menu had detailed descriptions, making the tasting experience enjoyable. I also ordered a half portion of smoked assorted platter for 750 yen, which paired well with the beers. The Fish & Chips (half portion) for 600 yen was a classic choice, with a Kyoto twist of pickled taro as tartar sauce. Personally, I thought it would be interesting to have Chidori vinegar as a dipping sauce, a touch that would appeal to locals. I learned a lot during this visit. I wanted to try the Gojo Street Burger and Carbonara with Oden broth, but I ran out of time. Thank you for the meal!

Visited around 7 pm on December 27th. The restaurant was full. It seemed like there were not enough staff, probably due to the year-end rush. I was looking forward to trying the beer from Ichijoji Brewery, but the menu took a while to arrive. When I asked the staff about the beer, they had no idea. Disappointing. The 3-beer tasting set was 1650 yen, half portion of fish and chips was 600 yen, and a platter of oden with 3 varieties was 600 yen. The Destroyer Angel IPA was very delicious, easy to drink, and not too much like a typical IPA. The Gruit Ale was sour, almost like a beer cocktail. It had a flavor that even people who don't like beer might enjoy. The fish and chips with Shiba-zuke tartar sauce was interesting, but the fried food itself wasn't very tasty. It had a strong frozen white fish taste with no umami. The oden was made with white miso, but it was quite bland. It didn't really complement the beer well. I had high expectations, so I felt a bit let down. The beer was really good, but paying 2800 yen for this experience seemed a bit expensive. Thank you for the meal.

On Tuesday at 18:45, I went to BEER PUB ICHI‐YA. They have 8 taps for draft beer with a variety of names I've never seen before. I chose a beer tasting set of 3 for 1,650 yen, including Kuroshigin Lemon, Imperial Stout, and Destroy Angel IPA. I also had oden for 600 yen and a side dish set for 500 yen. The fruit beer Kuroshigin Lemon, the recommended IPA, and the dark stout were lined up in that order, as lighter beers are usually consumed first. The food was delicious and well-prepared. However, I couldn't finish the stout as it didn't suit my taste. It was impressive how craft beers from a certain manufacturer, commonly found in convenience stores, always taste good regardless of the style. The atmosphere became livelier as more customers arrived, and the attentive male staff promptly brought me water when I needed it. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Finally, the Giants defeated the Hawks. They put an end to their losing streak in official games at 14. It had been a long journey, spanning 708 days. However, it was not easy. It was a close victory with a last-minute comeback. I thought I might never see a day like this, but now one hurdle has been overcome. Today, I visited "Hankyu Line Kyoto Kawaramachi Station." I was in the mood for a hamburger, so I wandered around the Shinkyogoku Shopping Street looking for a good place to eat. After exploring various alleys, I stumbled upon a nice restaurant called "BEER PUB ICHI-YA." I decided to try their "Original Burger Set" for 1,500 yen, which included fries and a drink. Due to the current situation, only non-alcoholic beer was available, but the set was still a good deal. The burger was tall and packed with flavor. I squeezed it in the bag before taking a bite. It had a juicy sauce, a mix of tomato's acidity, meat's sweetness, and mustard's spiciness creating a symphony of flavors. The thin-cut fries were also delicious. I enjoyed the non-alcoholic beer and felt happily satisfied with my meal. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. I would have preferred craft beer, but it couldn't be helped. I will continue to strive forward on my journey, with no regrets.

Visited during a trip to Kyoto. There has been an increase in craft beer establishments in recent years, but I generally visit brewpubs directly operated by breweries. This particular establishment is operated by Ichijo-ji Brewery, so I decided to check it out! [Hygiene] - Masks: All staff wear masks. - Disinfection spray: Temperature check and disinfection spray provided upon entry. - Ventilation: Entrance is open. - Partitions: None. - Distancing: Customers are seated apart. [Parking Information] Not available. Beer Prices: - Small (270ml): 650 yen - Medium (370ml): 850 yen - Large (420ml): 1050 yen - Tasting flight of 3 beers (180ml each): 1500 yen Beer Reviews: - Kameoka Harvest Brew: Refreshing with little bitterness. - Ichijodani Yuzu Weiss: Slightly yuzu-flavored with complex bitterness. - Joushu White Ale: Sour ale with a hint of plum flavor. - Ichijodani Coffee Stout: Coffee flavor followed by stout taste. - Ichijodani Red Ale: Ale with a noticeable alcohol content. - Destroy Angel IPA: Strong IPA with intense alcohol and hop bitterness. Specialty Burger: - ICHI-YA Special Burger: Fresh vegetables, tangy sauce, and good patty texture. Overall, the casual atmosphere was nice. The beers were easy to drink, but nothing stood out. The food quality was better, especially the burgers. Also, the friendly and attractive staff added to the experience.

※This is a record of my visit to Kyoto during the GoTo Travel campaign in 2020. I visited "Spring Valley Brewery Kyoto" as part of a beer festival with my beer-loving friends. Although this place doesn't have a brewery on site, it is a shop produced by a brewery in Ichijoji where you can enjoy draft beer. It was also very crowded, almost full. Luckily, we found seats after about a 10-minute wait. They had around 7-8 types of craft beer available, and we ordered a set to try three different beers. The food menu was also extensive, with a mix of Japanese and Western dishes that seemed to pair well with beer. However, we had already indulged in beer and food at our first stop, so we didn't have much room left in our stomachs... We ordered a platter of three types of small dishes and some unique squid ink fried chicken. The beer tasting set here came in regular beer glasses and was quite filling and satisfying! The portion size of each of the three small dishes was surprisingly generous, enough for two people to share. I think it's a good deal in terms of cost performance. You can also try craft beers from other breweries besides Ichijoji Brewery, so it's great to enjoy craft beer without limiting yourself to just Kyoto! I wanted to try more of their dishes, so I hope to visit again with more room in my stomach next time. Thank you for the delicious meal! I will definitely visit again when I go back to Kyoto!

I went to the restaurant owned by Ichijoji Brewery, located on a street called Oyama-cho, just off the Nishiki-Koji street, known as the kitchen of Kyoto. I tried the Pale Ale from Ichijoji Brewery, which had a fresh taste with a refreshing bitterness and a hint of sweetness. I also had the Kameoka Harvest Brew, made with barley and hops from Kameoka City. For food, I had a platter of homemade side dishes including sautéed burdock, green onion with miso paste, sweet simmered sweet potatoes, broccoli with mayonnaise dressing, and carrot and konjac stir-fry. I also tried the white miso and soy milk oden, which was soft and delicious. The Fish & Chips made with Kyoto pickled tartar sauce was crispy and tasty. Overall, the food was delicious and I had a great time.

I was asked if I had a reservation, but luckily I was able to casually walk in to this popular place! It's a craft beer bar, so the cost performance is not the best, but the food was delicious. - Fried potatoes: Freshly cut potatoes right on the spot! The best. - Sausages: Five unique flavors like roasted green tea and yuzu! Other dishes were also delicious. It's nice to be able to casually walk into a shop like this. I definitely want to go back again!

I had a dinner reservation at 9:00 PM, so I had some time to spare and decided to have a quick beer here. It was the weekend and peak dinner time, but there were only about 3 other groups of customers besides me. It seems like people are slowly returning to the streets of Kyoto as restrictions are gradually lifted in Kansai, but restaurants are still struggling to attract customers. I ordered a Double IPA, which is a strong beer with 8% alcohol content. It had a strong bitterness but a good aroma, similar to a Pale Ale. It didn't taste too strong in terms of alcohol content, more like a Lager. It was delicious, but a bit pricey at over 1000 yen for just one glass. I chatted with the staff, and they seemed quite bored. They mentioned how they used to see a lot of foreign tourists in Kyoto, but now they can even ride their bicycles through Nishiki Market. It's a situation that was unimaginable just a few months ago. The beer may be a bit expensive, but I wonder if the food is good too. Thank you for the meal.
