We enjoyed matsutake mushroom and conger eel hot pot with 6 people. The assorted sashimi we had before was also delicious. The turban shell was particularly large and had a chewy texture like abalone, it was amazing. We also had grilled nodoguro, which was also delicious. The main dish, conger eel hot pot, consisted of Korean conger eel with fatty skin, onions from Awaji Island, and fragrant matsutake mushrooms, allowing us to have a luxurious dining experience.

I visited with two friends, one from Tokyo, for lunch. We ordered a sashimi set, a sushi set, and hamo and green pepper tempura. Kyoto Station was crowded with tourists, but it was not too busy where we were, a bit away from the JR entrance. The hamo and sushi were delicious, and the prices were reasonable.

I have known about this restaurant for a while. At night, people come here to drink alcohol at reasonable prices. The photo shows a lunch set for 1400 yen. It's not made with top-grade ingredients, but it's not cheap either. This place seems to offer decent sushi to regular customers, not just tourists.

I visited this restaurant located near Hachijo-guchi at Kyoto Station for some errands. I had been here before and had a good experience, so I decided to visit again. It was lunchtime, but there were not many people. I sat at a table and placed my order. The restaurant also had a sunken kotatsu seating area, which added to the nice atmosphere. I ordered the Chef's Recommended Set Meal (1950 yen) for myself and the Sushi Set Meal (1200 yen) for my wife. The recommended set meal included red miso soup, tempura, 6 pieces of sushi, rice, and a small side dish. The sushi set meal included red miso soup, 6 pieces of sushi, and 6 pieces of rolled sushi. Unfortunately, the quality of the sushi in the recommended set meal was not good. The vinegar in the rice was not well-balanced. They only accepted cash for lunch, which was different from my previous visit. Overall, I felt that the quality had decreased since my last visit. Disappointing!

A traditional Japanese restaurant located in the Kintetsu Meiten-gai near Kyoto Station. From the outside, it looks like a sushi and traditional Japanese restaurant beloved by the locals. With a recommendation from a foodie friend, we managed to secure seats at the counter despite it being almost 6 pm. The place was packed even though it was early evening. The atmosphere inside was bustling and the clientele varied, including some well-dressed individuals chatting with the master and his apprentice. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, around 50-60 in total. We started with a sashimi platter, and to our surprise, they asked about our preferences. Each piece of sashimi was fresh and thick. We also enjoyed dishes like snow crab, fresh oysters, grilled gingko nuts, and burdock. The grilled fugu shirako was lightly seared and incredibly sweet. The grilled golden eye snapper and grilled blackthroat seaperch were also highlights. For the finale, we had sushi made by the chef. The quality of the sushi was outstanding. It's amazing to find such high-quality ingredients in a station area. The person next to us mentioned they come all the way from Nagoya to dine here. This place is a hidden gem for food lovers, but not recommended for those who prioritize presentation and service. It's all about the food here. *Note: The lunch menu is different from dinner.

I think it was around 1000 yen. Being able to eat sushi at Kyoto Station for dinner at this price was fantastic. I love fish, so I was really excited. I enjoyed it without soy sauce as usual. I could fully taste the original flavor of the fish and it was a happy time. Ending the trip with my favorite food is the best! ☺︎

I wanted to have sushi easily, so I decided to go to Kyoto Station. Since Masashi said it was okay, I went. The restaurant is located in the underground shopping area of Kyoto Station. It doesn't look like a traditional sushi restaurant, with both tables and a counter. There are also private rooms and reservation seats, which is nice. I ordered the Kyoto set meal for 2800 yen, while my wife and second son ordered a sushi set. The Kyoto set meal included sushi, tempura, hand-rolled sushi, and soup. The sushi was delicious, and the tempura and hand-rolled sushi were also good. It's different from conveyor belt sushi, and the atmosphere was nice. We were satisfied with our meal and will definitely come back for sushi again.

During a business trip, we arrived at Kyoto Station around lunchtime. One of my foreign colleagues suggested sushi, so we went to a restaurant area inside the station. I ordered the "Sushi Half Set Lunch" for 1200 yen, which is a common lunch option where you get 1.5 portions for one person. The set included 8 pieces of sushi - egg, tuna, sea bream, salmon, mackerel, steamed shrimp, octopus, and conger eel. The egg was like a sponge cake type. There were also two rolls (spicy tuna and cucumber) equivalent to one roll. The rice was soft and slightly larger in size compared to the number of toppings, making it a satisfying meal.

The restaurant, as the name suggests, is a sushi place, but they also offer a variety of side dishes such as sashimi, grilled dishes, fried dishes, and cooked dishes. Everything was delicious, so I felt like I could enjoy pairing sake with the food. They have a wide variety of sake as well. However, I found that the sweetfish had too many small bones and was very tough to eat. I would like to visit this restaurant again if I have the chance, but I'll pass on the sweetfish (lol).

I will continue to learn various things about how to serve visit meals. I will go again. It is the best place where you can drink from noon.

Ordered live oysters, ankimo (monkfish liver), and red clam sashimi as appetizers. They were fresh and delicious, so I was satisfied. It's a bit challenging to know what sushi is available for the day since the display case is not visible from the table seats. It's better to sit at the counter, but if you're at a table, it takes time to confirm. Also, the operation is not always smooth, so when it gets busy, the orders may take a while to arrive. Both the staff and the chefs seem busy, making it a bit difficult to place orders. There are many foreign customers, making it a bit noisy at times, but that's not really the restaurant's fault.

I always wonder why mass-produced sushi has such strong wasabi. Maybe it's because I really don't like powdered or paste wasabi, so I feel the strong kick more. The sharpness is too strong compared to natural wasabi. That's why I usually ask for no wasabi or just a little at cheaper sushi restaurants. This place at Kyoto Station seemed like a mass-produced sushi place, so I asked for less wasabi on my sushi. The taste was honestly average. It might be worth the price, but overall, it was just okay. The sushi itself was nothing special. However, the seasonal vegetables were quite good. On this day, the thick asparagus looked visually appealing. If you ask about the cooking method, they can probably accommodate your request. The thick asparagus was tender and the quality of the ingredients was good. There were some parts with tough fibers that made me wonder, but other than that, it was good. If you're going to eat at this kind of place, especially at a station, I think ordering vegetable side dishes would be a good choice. You can also have a drink while you're there, and they are open all day. The service was warm and friendly, which was nice.

I had some business near Kyoto Station and visited during lunchtime on a weekday. I ordered a ¥1300 sushi set which came with hosomaki (thin rolls) and akadashi (red miso soup). The taste was decent for the price, but I was a little disappointed that the hosomaki was falling apart.
