To be honest, I wanted to go into the neighboring shop, but on this day I was waiting for a medical examination so I came here to relax. The iced coffee was strong and I ended up putting all the gum syrup in, but it was surprisingly delicious. Smoking is allowed in all seats and there were many customers who stayed for a long time, so it may not be suitable for non-smokers, but it's like an oasis for smokers.

I bought a daifuku at Demachi Futaba and then went to a cafe with my friends to have a relaxing tea time. My friend who smokes was happy to find out that the cafe allows smoking. It is a traditional cafe where you can relax. I ordered a set of hot sandwich and black tea, which came in a cute cup. However, the tea was served only in the cup, not in a teapot, which was a bit disappointing. The hot sandwich was served with the crust on, and it was delicious. It's a place where you can chat leisurely and feel time passing by peacefully.

Kyoto. Along Kawaramachi Street, a little down from Imadegawa, there was a shop here. After having lunch nearby, I wanted to relax a bit more, so I visited here. The atmosphere was filled with the nostalgic vibe of the Showa era. There is no non-smoking section, as indicated by a sign at the entrance. Although none of the people I visited with smoke, the old-fashioned, tough atmosphere somehow made me excited as we entered the shop. The interior of the shop was also filled with a Showa-era vibe like the exterior. However, when I looked at the menu, both hot coffee and iced coffee were priced at 550 yen each, which was quite bold pricing. I ordered an iced coffee, which was served in a retro glass cup with a matching saucer, giving it a nice touch. When I first tried it straight, the coffee had a strong bitterness and a rich flavor that spread throughout my mouth, just like the tough cold coffee of the shop. It was really delicious, but I am a bit weak, so I added some milk and gum syrup to it. The sweetness of the gum syrup and the milk balanced out the bitterness of the coffee, creating a drink that was easy to enjoy while still retaining its individuality. Initially, I thought it was a bit expensive, but after trying it, I was completely satisfied. Was it worth the price? It was a very delicious coffee that exceeded its price.

This morning's breakfast was at Tanaka Coffee Imadegawa store. It is an old-fashioned coffee shop where smoking is allowed throughout, so the smell of tobacco is present in the store. However, I knew this before entering, so it was not a problem at all. I sat at a table near a narrow window that was slightly open for ventilation, allowing fresh air to flow in.
I ordered an E drink and a hot egg sandwich for 750 yen (tax included). I chose the blend for my drink, which arrived in 7-8 minutes.
The blend was delicious!
The hot egg sandwich was cooked perfectly in the sandwich maker, leaving a nice grill mark. The presentation with the cucumber slice on top was a nice touch. When I took a bite, it was so delicious! The combination of egg and a hint of mustard mayonnaise inside was indescribably tasty. The warmth of the sandwich was also comforting.
Overall, it was a slightly luxurious morning meal with a satisfying portion. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I took a break here and walked 20,000 steps on the mountain path of Mt. Hiei Enryaku-ji to purify my mind before descending. Feeling a bit peckish, I decided to take a break. While strolling from Demachiyanagi Station, I stumbled upon a long line that looked like a vaccination site or PCR testing center... But it turned out to be a line for Fubatou, a famous Japanese confectionery, with over 100 people waiting! Quite a sight in this heat, all for a sweet treat. I glanced at the line and entered the shopping street to search for unique finds. In the end, I purchased bicarbonate of soda at the 100-yen store. Since this text is getting long, I'll stop here and share my experience at this place. I didn't try the pudding, but I was feeling peckish so I ordered a combination salad and iced coffee. The combination salad was packed with 11 types of vegetables and it tasted delicious. It was a perfect vegetable boost since I hadn't had any vegetable juice today. I really liked this salad. I quenched my thirst with the iced coffee and headed back home. It was a satisfying meal. Thank you!

At 8:30 in the morning, I had some time to spare under the scorching sun, so I went looking for a coffee shop nearby. Surprisingly, there wasn't one (except for Mister Donut). It's located a little south of Demachiyanagi, next to SECOND HOUSE (a cake shop). The sign saying "There are no non-smoking seats in our store" is rather straightforward. The layout with a large round table in the middle in an L-shape makes it impossible to physically separate the smoking area. It seems to be considered a long-established shop in Kyoto. The staff were efficient and experienced in taking orders. I ordered the special blend coffee for 500 yen, but at the time of payment, it was only 450 yen (including tax). The morning set with toast is also 500 yen, so maybe it was unfair because it was during the morning service hours... I wonder? Since smoking is allowed, most customers are relaxed businessmen reading newspapers or having light meetings, and slightly older women. There is a noticeable smell of cigarettes. For smokers, it must be a very relaxing environment. I can understand the feelings of those old men. The coffee is delicious. It was my first time at this long-established shop, so I chose their "special blend coffee" which has a slightly acidic and delicious blend. It is brewed one cup at a time with a siphon, I think. Ah, maybe that slightly older artisan-looking person over there brewed it for me. I see, this shop has lived up to its reputation. It seems like they also have a variety of sandwiches and morning sets. It seems like a popular spot for breakfast among businessmen. The interior is starting to show its age, so it's not particularly stylish, but it was originally built with a classical and meticulous design. For those who enjoy good coffee and don't mind a little smoke, this place is good. Thank you for the delicious coffee! I would like to add that the way the middle-aged man handled the payment, the exchange of money was very polite and his manners were wonderful.

I visited this cafe after coming up from Demachiyanagi Station on the Keihan line and walking south on Kawaramachi Street for about 5 minutes. I found it by chance while passing by. Just like the Kawaramachi branch, this cafe serves delicious coffee and is a rare place where smoking is allowed. It's heartwarming to see smokers enjoying coffee, cigarettes, and conversations.

During my business trip to Kyoto, I found this café near the hotel where I was staying. They offered a morning set menu, so I decided to visit. The interior had a retro vibe, reminiscent of a coffee shop from the good old Showa era. I ordered the morning set which came with toast and coffee for 600 yen. The toast was crispy and delicious, perfect for a morning meal. The highlight was the coffee, which was rich, aromatic, and incredibly tasty.

It was hot, so I ordered matcha shaved ice and hot coffee. I just stopped by for a break, but was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was! The coffee jelly was an unexpected accent and the coffee itself was also very tasty. There were many smokers, so it would be better to choose a seat in the back.

■2016/01/07■We have plenty of time until our meeting for the New Year's visit to Kamigamo Shrine. I checked in advance and found Tanaka Coffee, a coffee specialty store with several locations in Kyoto. It seems to have a calm atmosphere with a Showa retro vibe. Tomorrow, I will calm down. I ordered the coffee siphon point morning menu drink blend for 400 yen. The morning set (with a drink) includes toast set for 500 yen, ham sandwich set for 750 yen, and 6 other options. I chose today's order blend coffee with a hot sandwich egg set. The coffee was made with a siphon and had a solid body, possibly a city roast. I think it's a well-balanced and delicious coffee. Weak ☕️☕️☕️☕️☕️ Strong Bitterness ☕️☕️☕️ Acidity ☕️☕️ Richness ☕️☕️☕️ Aroma ☕️☕️☕️ The egg in the hot sandwich had a good balance of salt and butter. It was a tasty and flavorful sandwich. Thank you for the meal. (^^)

It's been a while since I visited Tanaka Coffee at Imadegawa store for breakfast. This time, I ordered the ham toast set with special blend coffee for 700 yen. Despite the increase in consumption tax, the prices have remained the same for the past 6 years! The interior of the store allows smoking, but there was no one emitting purple smoke, so I enjoyed my ham toast in a relaxed atmosphere. The spicy butter complemented the crispy lettuce and ham very well, making the ham toast delicious. The slightly acidic coffee had the same taste as before, maintaining the original flavor of the coffee specialty store. After a bit of a relaxing time, I finished my meal. It was delicious! In 2009, I had some business nearby and decided to stop by Tanaka Coffee. It felt more like a coffee specialty shop rather than a regular cafe. I ordered Set A (drink + toast for 500 yen) with hot coffee for their morning service from 7 to 11 am. They also had scrambled eggs, hot sandwiches, and hotcakes on their morning menu. The store was larger than expected from the outside, and all seats allowed smoking. Soon, my special blend coffee arrived, accompanied by two slices of buttered toast. The coffee had a strong aroma and was very inviting. Adding the milk from the small stainless steel cup brought out a creamy fragrance that mixed with the coffee aroma beautifully. The first sip revealed a gentle bitterness layered with a soft, creamy taste that made me smile involuntarily. This coffee was delicious! It had a good taste, a good aroma, and was a comforting and delicious coffee. The toast was average, but I enjoyed the delicious coffee until my planned time. To be honest, the coffee was surprisingly tasty! Thank you for the meal!

I stopped by around 8 pm to kill some time. I sat at a table towards the back of the half-empty restaurant and ordered an Almond Au Lait (670 yen) while my wife got the Bacon and Egg Hot Sandwich Set (900 yen). We both enjoyed our drinks and food as we relaxed in our own ways. The Almond Au Lait was exactly what I expected, with a satisfying almond flavor. The Hot Sandwich had a surprising amount of cucumber, which made us chuckle as we ate it. This place is open early in the morning until late at night, making it convenient for coffee or light meals. It's a really versatile and user-friendly spot!

I stopped by here after a long time. It's actually my first time at this store. The parking lot. I heard it was very small, but it's really small. If someone parks poorly there, even with a compact car, it's quite difficult. The interior of the store has an old-fashioned coffee shop feel. The staff working efficiently made a good impression. The toast itself was neither good nor bad, but the scrambled eggs and salad were cooked better than I expected and tasted delicious. The café latte had a nice coffee aroma and the sweetness of the milk was just right, which I liked. I was curious, so I took a muffin to go. It's like a convenience store dessert, which is fine. The morning set seemed reasonably priced, so I would like to visit again.

I went for a walk in the morning and walked up the Kamogawa River to Imadegawa. On the way back, I decided to walk through Kawaramachi and stopped by Tanaka Coffee in Gion, which is well-known. I thought I would have breakfast there before heading home. The atmosphere and menu are similar to other branches. The customers here seem more refreshing though (laughs). I ordered the Chicken Toast breakfast set.
