I went to drink in Kyoto, which is unusual for Yamadera (laughs). I got off at the Keihan Electric Railway Fushimi Momoyama Station, walked along the Ote-suji Shopping Street, and then walked a little south on Ryogaecho Street to find a 300 yen flat-rate izakaya called "Yushokuya Pataya"! It's a lovely place with a cute Volkswagen bus as a landmark. As you walk further on the cobblestone path, you'll find a vinyl sheet entrance. It has a deep feeling that I like. Both drinks and dishes are all 300 yen (tax included, 315 yen). I ordered a fresh lemon chu-hi! Wow, even fresh lemon chu-hi is only 300 yen! That's cheap. First, they bring out the otoshi (200 yen), which is boiled greens, a nice touch. There is a wide variety of dishes available, including rice dishes and desserts. They even have hot pot dishes! The Keichan-yaki is 630 yen, but all other hot pot dishes are only 315 yen. I started with some edamame. There is a group of office workers drinking at the back of the restaurant, and there is also a solo customer in front. I went with a friend, but I might try going alone next time (laughs). The young female staff members are nice, and since it's not a chain izakaya, I like it. Next, I ordered ponkara, which is freshly fried chicken with a ponzu sauce. The vegetable sticks were fresh and crunchy, with radish, carrot, and cucumber dipped in mayonnaise. I also ordered the potato fries with the skin on. It's quite filling and delicious. I prefer the skin-on fries over regular fries. The daikon salad was also ordered and it was a mountain of salad (laughs). Next, I tried the tonpei-yaki, which is a dish of pork and cabbage sautéed in sauce and made into an omelet style. It was also filling and tasty! This restaurant is really not like Kyoto, more like Osaka in a way. The price and portion size are great. I didn't expect to find a restaurant that fits my taste like this in Kyoto (laughs). I need to explore more of Kyoto now. I'll definitely revisit this place. Thank you for the meal!
