I took a child who said they used to eat delicious food before to a ramen restaurant. The restaurant is old and crowded during lunchtime. Opposite us is a famous up-and-coming ramen shop from Kyoto. The turnover of customers is fast, with people coming and going constantly. The kitchen is run by a third-generation young man, along with his mother and grandmother. The ramen costs 570 yen, which is cheap! It is a simple but very flavorful ramen with chicken broth, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, char siu, and finely chopped green onions - a classic taste of Showa era. It may be a new experience for the child. Sprinkling some pepper added to the nostalgia. We enjoyed the meal while drinking plenty of water. Sometimes, it's nice to have something like this. Today's lunch was at "Chinese Restaurant Fukurai-ken". Located along National Route 27 in Ayabe City, near Shitohatta, it's not easy to find but the large sign on the road stands out. The restaurant is in a spacious area with an old building. The lack of lighting and peeling walls give it a somewhat rundown feel, but the sign indicating it's open is new. Food samples that evoke history are displayed at the entrance. The wide interior has a counter and raised seating, with private rooms in the back. Enka music plays in the background. They offer Chinese noodles and rice bowls at reasonable prices, with the Chinese lunch being the most expensive. There are also Chinese dishes available. I decided on the "ramen with small fried chicken" for 930 yen. The red decor at the counter exudes a sense of history. Fish prints are displayed throughout. In the middle of the dining area, there is a large eagle figurine. Soon, the food arrives. The small fried chicken is a sufficient portion, crispy on the outside and juicy inside. It has a good flavor without being overly seasoned, allowing the chicken taste to come through. The ramen looks like a typical Chinese soba dish. The medium-thick noodles are cooked well, and the clear soup has a prominent saltiness. The bamboo shoots are tender and flavorful. The large, chewy chashu has a good amount of seasoning. This is a neighborhood Chinese restaurant that exudes a sense of history and tradition.

"Fukuraiken" in Ayabe: Ramen + Mini Fried Rice for ¥1,030. This is not your typical Chinese-style dish, it's a solid option. In the past, it was a sad time when the soup was not flavorful and the noodles were drenched in sauce. I was surprised by the price of the chashu ramen! The taste is also like the old-fashioned shoyu ramen. Lately, many shops only offer rich and heavy ramen, which I'm getting tired of. So, when I eat simple shoyu ramen, I feel relieved. The taste is also amazing!

The Chinese rice bowl is recommended! If it has quail eggs, it's a 4-star dish. The Char Siu Ramen for 670 yen is cheap!

Our restaurant is located along Route 27 heading towards Maizuru from Ayabe City, and there are not many dining options around. When I visited Ayabe on a business trip, I had lunch at our restaurant. I ordered ramen and gyoza, and they were quite delicious. Since there are not many restaurants nearby, it had a typical Chinese restaurant vibe. I would like to try other dishes if I have the opportunity. I recommend that everyone should visit our restaurant.
