The smell is already there in front of the authentic Chinese cuisine restaurant #常乐小吃. The #土豆红烧肉饭 may look like just a pork and potato bowl, but the taste is so delicious that I immediately wanted to ask for the recipe when I took a bite. When topped with tea eggs, it becomes an irresistible bowl for men. The spicy beef salad was delicious, and the longevity noodles were chewy and voluminous with a fantastic soup flavor. The steamed meat buns and green peppers in the 肉夾饃 were also amazing. The spiciness of the spices outside the store was not too strong, more like a gentle accent that enhanced the flavors of the ingredients and the meticulous work. The dishes were so delicious that I definitely want to go back. I hope they will consider adding more alcoholic beverages besides beer, like baijiu or highball. Thank you for the meal.

Located in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto Prefecture, this restaurant offers an experience that makes you feel like you're overseas, as it is run by Chinese individuals and frequented by Chinese customers. During my visit, all conversations in the restaurant were in Chinese. There were many unfamiliar names for noodles on the menu, but I chose the Longevity Noodles this time. You can also choose the level of spiciness. The noodles were flat, similar to dao xiao mian or hoto noodles. "Joyful Snack" Main Store, Fushimi Shimosakura-cho 125, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture.

It had been a while since I visited, and I consulted with my mother that wide noodles would be nice. She said they can make either beef noodles or spicy beef noodles. I ordered the spicy beef noodles for 850 yen with wide noodles and extra spiciness. Everyone else in the restaurant were Chinese exchange students and didn't speak Japanese at all. The staff spoke fluent Japanese so there were no issues. They asked if I was okay with cilantro, to which I replied that I loved it. The dish arrived in a few minutes. The wide noodles had a satisfying texture, and the soup, which I think was beef bone soup, was not too greasy aside from the chili oil, so it went down smoothly. The ingredients were simple, with plenty of tender beef, along with mushrooms, cilantro, dried tofu, and wood ear fungus. As expected from a dish called beef noodles, there was a generous amount of soft beef. The atmosphere and flavors were truly exotic, but I personally loved it. It was delicious and had a good amount of food. Thank you for the meal!

For the second lunch spot, we wandered around and ended up at "Joraku Shokudo Main Store". There are over 10 shops clearly written in Chinese around here. If you concentrate on the street, it becomes a little Chinatown. Next to it is a Japanese ramen shop, but we decided to go here. We arrived around 1 PM and the small shop run by a couple was almost full. I'm starting to understand the menu little by little, but there are still many dishes that I can't imagine. Since we had already eaten, we opted for a rice bowl instead of noodles. More and more customers kept coming in. Inside the shop, 80% of the language spoken was Chinese and 20% was Japanese. We didn't touch the water as we assumed it was tap water. We ordered the Joraku Don (550 yen), a simple bowl with char siu, egg, and rice flour. The sauce was soy sauce. The spices or something (not sure) on the char siu had a nice aroma, and the rice went well with it. The char siu, boiled egg, and rice flour were all average. Since it's a rice bowl, that's to be expected. It would be good to eat it with other dishes or side items. We wanted to add some baozi but missed the timing, so we just had the rice bowl and left. So, I can't give a rating based on just this dish. I still want to explore more in this area. Thank you for the meal.

"Xiaochi (Shaoci) refers to Chinese small dishes that are eaten at restaurants or food stalls. It can be translated literally as "light snack" or "snack," but the nuance in the Chinese cultural sphere is quite different. It includes a variety of dishes such as noodles, dumplings, buns, meat dishes, rice bowls, etc. These dishes are casual, relatively inexpensive, and have a strong sense of authenticity. I ordered the signature dish called "Joy Don" from the menu. It arrived promptly - a simmered pork belly slices with boiled egg slices on top, tofu skin underneath, and some spinach for garnish. The sauce had a spicy flavor, reminiscent of traditional Chinese herbal medicine. As I continued eating, I found myself getting addicted to the unique taste. The sliced tofu skin added a nice texture and complexity to the dish. The only downside was the outdated pricing system used by this restaurant. Overall, I would rate it as follows."

We ordered half a chicken for 700 yen and also got spicy noodles since there were two of us. The chicken was cooked similar to pork trotters, with flavorful skin and tender meat. The spicy noodles had shiitake mushrooms mixed in, along with a small amount of bean sprouts and cucumber. The menu was quite extensive, and you get a 150 yen discount if you order a regular portion. The egg was as shown in the picture. We left feeling satisfied and the food was delicious.

I ordered the spicy jaja noodles. Instead of the usual wide noodles in soup, this dish came with thick curly noodles like udon. It had chopped char siu, dried shiitake mushrooms, cucumber, and bean sprouts as toppings. It was still spicy. If you're tired of regular noodle soup, this is a good alternative. The price of 700 yen is equivalent to a large size, while the regular size is 550 yen. It's quite reasonable.

This is my third time here. I ordered the Spicy Beef Noodles for 650 yen and the Pig's Trotters for 300 yen. The pork bone broth came out quickly. It was a huge portion and very delicious. The Spicy Beef Noodles were very similar to the Longevity Noodles I had before. I asked the staff, and they confirmed that it was made as ordered. In other words, it's a dish with beef in soup with plenty of chili oil. I enjoyed both dishes and left satisfied.

On this day, I ordered the pork and potato donburi. It's a bowl of simmered pork with skin on and potatoes. The potatoes are salty. In Japanese sense, it's okay to have a sweet and savory sauce, but this one only has a salty taste. The Chinese-style salad that came out first has noodles, dried tofu, cucumber, and bean sprouts. It seems like it's topped with chili oil.

I entered for the first time. There were a few customers, but everyone except me was Chinese, at least in terms of language. However, the owner spoke in easy-to-understand Japanese. I ordered the Longevity Noodles for 700 yen. She asked if I wanted chili oil and coriander. It took about 10 minutes. The soup was a light beef broth with a hint of salt. The noodles were wide, with bean vermicelli, dried tofu, and wood ear mushrooms. It was a spicy dish that you don't see in Japan, interesting but probably not as tasty as Japanese ramen. I might prefer a pork rice bowl instead.

Reitan's name "Rei" is the same character as the "Rei" in the new era name "Reiwa." Yes, the new era name, my parents are happy about it. I am a little happy too. However, let me make it clear that I was actually aiming for the name of the baby panda in Shirahama. It would have been named something like Hama (Hin) because of the new era, and I wanted to give the same name as myself. There are many restaurants around Nishiura-cho in Fushimi where people speak Chinese. I visited one after a long time. The menu remains the same, with the option of choosing between small or large for the tasty spicy beef noodles for 750 yen (both the same price) and the pig tongue for 350 yen. The pig tongue is mixed with homemade chili oil. The texture is moist and the chili oil is delicious! It seems they also sell chili oil for takeout, but I'm not sure about the price. As for the noodles, as I thought last time, the flavor is light, almost like a heavily reduced salt soup. The noodles are thick like suiton, and they seem to stretch them by hand after taking the order. They will ask if you want chili oil or coriander, so if you don't like something, you can ask them to leave it out.

In Fushimi's Nishiura-cho, there are more and more shops run by Chinese people that can rival Little China. Among them, this shop stands out for its authentic atmosphere and reasonable prices. I recommend trying the beef noodles, which are made fresh after you order. The potato pork bowl is also very delicious! The shop is frequented by many Chinese customers, but they also speak Japanese fluently.
