I stopped by on my way back from climbing Mt. Atago. The yuzu bath after the climb was amazing! (Amenities provided were only towels and soap. There is no hairdryer.) There is only one yuzu bath, so if there are both men and women in the group, women go in first and then men. After that, we had Mizutaki (chicken hot pot). The giant tofu, homemade ponzu sauce, mochi, everything was delicious. The large chicken is full of collagen, eating it will make your skin smooth like the landlady!! The porridge at the end was rich in chicken broth and I could eat it every day☆ The yuzu jelly dessert was refreshing and delicious too! Next time, I want to try the chicken skewers. *Mizutaki is quite filling, so it's best to go on an empty stomach. After the meal, they even drove us to the nearest station.

On February 13th, I took a JR train to Hozukyo Station. It was a 20-minute train ride from Kyoto Station, and the location offers a great view when the weather is nice. It is known as the "Yuzu Village" and "Mizuo-so in the back parlor of Kyoto" in the hidden village of Kyoto. It is a peaceful countryside where you can enjoy a yuzu bath and chicken suki hot pot. When you come to Kyoto, you should try chicken dishes and Ryoma Han recommended it, but I was a bit hesitant about chicken suki. However, I decided to try it out. Upon arrival at Mizuo-so, a large house, I was greeted by a microbus from the station. In the room on the left side of the entrance, a meal was prepared. The hostess explained about the Yuzu Village and recommended the yuzu bath, which was very relaxing with its soothing fragrance. Then came the chicken suki. I was surprised by the large, colorful, and glossy pieces of local chicken, which were stir-fried in a thick iron pot. Fresh pesticide-free vegetables were added, with plenty of Chinese cabbage making it delicious. Finally, brown sugar and homemade sauce were added, creating an irresistible aroma. We cracked an egg and ate it, then added grated radish and squeezed yuzu for a refreshing taste. It was a delightful experience. We finished the meal and went for a stroll nearby, visiting the Seiwa Emperor Shrine and the Seiwa Emperor's Mausoleum behind Enkoji Temple. The taste was unforgettable. Thank you for the feast.

Thank you for always supporting me. It really encourages me. Please click on the link. Every year around this time, I go to Mizuo-so in Saga-Mio to have hot pot. In the past article, I wrote about Mizuo-so's Mizutaki. It takes about 1 hour to walk from Hosshu-kyo Station, but if you request, they will pick you up at the station by car. Mizuo-so was originally established as a place for people coming down from Mt. Atago to take a break and have a meal. They also have a yuzu bath, so it's nice to move your body a bit. Yesterday, I walked on the snowy road to get there. The exterior looks like a guesthouse, and if it weren't for the sign, it would just look like a big house. First, I went to the yuzu bath to enjoy the fragrant bath. After that, it was time for a meal in a private room. You can choose between chicken sukiyaki or Mizutaki, but after taking a vote among the 6 participants, everyone except me chose chicken sukiyaki. So, I went with the majority. It may look like a mishmash, but it was really delicious! I also had some beer, and on the way back, feeling full and slightly tipsy, I was driven to the station. I will definitely come back next year. I hope they will have Mizutaki next year. You can find more information about the restaurant here: [link to the restaurant's website]
