Around 11 o'clock, we visited with 5 people. Established in Shimogamo, a long-established ryotei "Fukusuke" with over 80 years of history, where you can enjoy Kyoto cuisine woven with carefully selected seasonal ingredients and the skills of the chefs. The entrance is impressive, with Japanese paintings displayed in the entrance hall and throughout. There are several tatami rooms, and a 10% service charge applies for private rooms. From the corridor, you can overlook the garden and enjoy a meal in a calm atmosphere. (Recommended for dinner) - Kaiseki Course "Ougi" 10,120 yen - Kaiseki Course "Aoi" 12,650 yen - Kaiseki Course "Miyabi" 18,975 yen Includes appetizer, sashimi, soup, simmered dish, grilled dish, fried dish, vinegar dish, steamed dish, rice, pickles, dessert (Recommended for lunch) - Kaiseki Course "Kitayama" 8,885 yen - Kaiseki Course "Kamogawa" 12,650 yen Includes appetizer, sashimi, soup, simmered dish, grilled dish, fried dish, vinegar dish, steamed dish, rice, pickles, dessert The prices mentioned include 10% consumption tax and service charge. (Bento Boxes) - Makunouchi Kaiseki Bento 6,500 yen - Matsukado Bento 4,300 yen - Kamo Bento 3,240 yen - Fukusuke Bento 2,260 yen - Shimogamo Bento 1,620 yen The above prices include 8% consumption tax. For dining in the restaurant, a 10% consumption tax is applicable. We had the Matsukado Bento, which included various dishes such as grilled fish, rolled omelette, simmered scallop, fu rice cake, sashimi platter, cucumber and firefly squid vinegar dish, yuba, burdock root simmered dish, taro simmered dish, shiitake mushroom simmered dish, snow pea, tempura platter, soup, rice with beans, pickles, and some other unidentified dishes. The volume and variety of flavors were impressive, showcasing the carefully selected ingredients and the culinary skills of the chefs. Overall, we were able to enjoy the deliciousness, beauty, carefully selected ingredients, and culinary skills of Kyoto cuisine. It has been a while since we had such delicious Japanese cuisine. We felt that we could enjoy a wonderful meal in a private room. Thank you for the feast. #Gourmet #KyotoGourmet #JapaneseFood #JapaneseCuisine #KyotoCuisine #KyotoRestaurant #Fukusuke #Kamogawa #Kyoto #GourmetClub #KyotoGourmetClub #Kaiseki #Bento #MatsukadoBento #FoodiesConnect

The atmosphere and the dishes at this Kyoto cuisine restaurant were excellent. The vinegar-marinated conger eel, steamed conger eel and matsutake mushrooms, and fresh sashimi were all delicious. I also enjoyed the fukumasu wrapped in bamboo leaves, yuba, and other Kyoto-style dishes. I wish I could have stayed overnight and enjoyed a leisurely meal with drinks.

Actually... my biological father passed away during Golden Week. It wasn't due to COVID-19, but we couldn't hold a funeral (to avoid crowds), so we waited until the 49th day. Even then, it was just our family, so we decided to order a catered meal after the memorial service. We chose Matsukado Bento, priced at 3,700 yen each, for 4 people. The Matsukado Bento included an assortment of dishes like dragon roll, simmered scallop, lotus root kinpira, rolled omelette, fish cake, miso-marinated mackerel, sashimi (sea bream, amberjack, tuna), tempura (shrimp, kisu fish, sweet potato, shishito pepper, eggplant), vinegar dishes (crab omelette, salmon, cucumber), simmered dish (young sea bream, shiitake mushroom, yuba, fava beans, small taro, burdock root, wheat gluten), rice with wheat gluten dumpling (fried tofu, burdock root, carrot), pickles (salted kelp, chopped pickled vegetables), and clear soup (wakame seaweed, fish cake, carrot, sudachi citrus). Everything had a traditional taste and was delicious. The simmered dish was slightly sweet, which I liked, and the sashimi was fresh and generous in portion. The clear soup had a comforting kombu broth base. The Matsukado Bento left us feeling full and satisfied. The price was also slightly cheaper compared to other caterers. It's convenient that they offer a variety of options from kaiseki to sushi to more affordable bentos depending on the occasion. I would definitely use their services again.

I often visit the "Kyou no Ajidokoro" corner at the Takashimaya underground food market, and one of the regulars there is Shimogamo Fukusuke. It seems that only large establishments can have a presence at this corner. For lunch, I had a traditional kaiseki course meal, which included appetizers, sashimi, soup, simmered dish, salad, steamed turnip with ankake sauce, rice, and dessert. The dishes were made with seasonal ingredients and were enjoyable. For a more fulfilling experience, I recommend asking the staff for their recommendations.

In Kyoto, there is a longstanding restaurant that has been loved by locals. The delicate flavors of the dishes and the refined dashi broth truly showcase the skills of this long-standing establishment.

Visited on the night of February 13, 2018. A great place to enjoy Kyoto cuisine when you want to experience the four seasons in your meal. The dishes are carefully prepared and presented. Although we rushed in just before closing time this time, I felt like I wanted to come back and enjoy a leisurely meal. The location is a bit off the beaten path, making it a bit difficult to visit regularly, but the entrance is impressive and it's a great choice for a Kyoto cuisine gathering.

The 900th restaurant we visited was Ken Sushi in Kamata. We chose this milestone restaurant somewhat carefully. On this day, we met up with my follower Oosumi in Kyoto. We are in charge of the Kinki region's public relations department, and we visited Myokenji Temple in Kamigyo Ward for a video shoot and planning for a big event in the fall. The temple has an amazing garden and a huge main hall. We met with the chief steward and made a significant request, to which he responded, "We will consider it positively." We also met the drone released on this day, which is high-performance. We had lunch at the temple, and the bento they prepared was beautifully presented and meticulously seasoned. The dashimaki tamago was particularly delicious. The bento cost around 1,500 to 2,000 yen, but they prepared it for less than 1,500 yen. Amazing!

We visited this restaurant when we drove to Kyoto. We arrived on Friday afternoon at 1 pm and were able to use the parking lot. It seemed like we were the only customers. We had pre-ordered the Aoi Gozen set meal with Dobinmushi. Although our reservation was for 2 pm, we arrived an hour early and they accommodated us. We were served sashimi first, followed by a variety of simmered dishes in drawers. It felt like a New Year's feast. Next, the Dobinmushi and rice were served. The Dobinmushi included conger eel. The rice was Matsutake rice. We dined at a table, which had a simple dining hall setting. There were decorative maiko fans adding to the atmosphere. There were also tatami mat rooms available, but they seemed to have an additional fee.

I ordered a delivery of Matsukado bento, which is like a catering service. Starting from April 2017, there was a slight price increase, and I received a new menu. The price went up by about 200 yen. Matsukado bento costs just under 4000 yen. It is simple but the flavors never get boring, and I am always satisfied whenever I order. First, there is a refreshing vinegar dish on the right front, simmered dish on the left front, sashimi on the right back, tempura with green tea salt on the left back, grilled dish in the center, and a steamed wheat gluten bun. Rice and soup are served separately, along with pickles. Every dish has a classic taste, and even though the tempura might not be as tasty when it's cold, it's still enjoyable. The grilled and simmered dishes have a delicious flavor with a rich broth.

I purchased mackerel pressed sushi at "Kyoryori Shimogamo Fukusuke" at Odakyu Department Store Shinjuku Store during the "Kyoto Old-established Stores Tour (2/16-22)". A single piece costs around 2000 yen, but you can get 4 pieces for 1296 yen. The slices are quite thick. The sushi rice is cooked firm. The mackerel is not overly vinegary, with a good amount of fat making it tender. The seasoning brings out the best of the ingredients, and the mackerel is excellent. The combination of kelp, mackerel, and rice is outstanding. I love mackerel pressed sushi, and the expensive ones are indeed delicious (laughs). I would like to try "Izuo" someday.

When we went to Kyoto as a group, the organizer had made a reservation at this restaurant. We were there for lunch, but when we arrived, it seemed like our reservation wasn't actually made, which was a bit of a problem. However, they managed to accommodate us somehow. The room we were seated in was a bit like a meeting room, but it was fine. The food looked beautiful and the building had a nice atmosphere, but the taste was a bit bland for my liking. It might just be the style of Kyoto kaiseki cuisine. Since we were given a private room last minute, I couldn't really complain, but I would have preferred to dine in a room that matched the exterior.

This is a renowned restaurant that excels in both cooking and sushi, but since it's hard to visit the actual restaurant, I bought their salad roll at the Takashimaya Kyoto store basement. It cost 630 yen for 5 pieces in a box, which is quite reasonable. The filling includes tamagoyaki, cucumber, asparagus, avocado, myoga, sesame seeds, shrimp, and yuzu mixed with white miso and mayonnaise. The sushi rice, made with soft and sweet shiromiso typical of Kyoto, leans towards sweetness overall. Despite that, I found it to be a healthy and delicious sushi roll.

I tried this sushi restaurant after a long time. I ordered delivery again. I realized that even though I have ordered delivery many times before, I have not posted a review here. I used to order chirashi sushi or bento boxes for lunch, but this time I wanted to try the assorted sushi platter. This time I tried the Kyoto-style assorted sushi platter for 1575 yen. Since I was eating during work, I couldn't savor it slowly, so this will be a brief report. The contents of the assorted sushi platter were 4 pieces of nigiri (tuna, squid, shrimp, sea bream), boxed sushi (pike conger, battera), rolled sushi (shrimp), and miso soup (with fish cake, watercress, and yuzu). The sushi pieces were quite large, so I was full. The real wasabi used for the nigiri was notable. It had a nice aroma and added a good touch. The quality of the ingredients was decent. The rice was slightly sweet, but the kombu dashi added a nice flavor. Although I love mackerel sushi, this time it was battera, which was not bad. The boxed sushi with pike conger was elegant. The rolled sushi and shrimp roll were also flavorful. Overall, this traditional restaurant's sushi was well-prepared and delicious.

I took advantage of the kindness of the landlady of the Ryokan and was allowed to use the facilities even after check-out. I even asked her to arrange a bento box delivery for me. I'm sorry, I requested a budget of 5000 yen per person. What arrived was a two-tiered bento box filled with seasonal deliciousness. *Sashimi... 3 types *Soup... clam soup, uguisu greens, red and white plum blossoms, fragrant wood buds *Rice... steamed sushi *Dessert... watermelon (I couldn't take a photo this time because it was a business meeting) Later, when I looked at the website, I found out it was called "Aoi Gozen". The meeting was from 11:30... "Aoi Gozen??" Normally, "Aoi Gozen" is only available for lunch at the main store, but I was able to request it specially. The delivery kaiseki meal costs 7350 yen and up, but the landlady was able to arrange it for me. The regular "Aoi Gozen" at the restaurant costs 4,226 yen (with autumn doburoku steamed rice, it costs 4,830 yen). The conversation between the landlady and the restaurant might have gone like this: It's show time! Landlady: Can I request a bento box delivery? Restaurant: Of course. Landlady: My budget is 5000 yen per person... Restaurant: I can't refuse. When do you need it? Landlady: Right now. Restaurant: Right now? Landlady: Can you bring it quickly? Restaurant: Oh! Coming soon (Landlady~!) Thanks to that, the meeting went well. The meal was also delicious. Thank you for the feast. Kyoto Ryori Shimogamo Fukusuke is a traditional Kyoto cuisine restaurant with over 70 years of history in Shimogamo, Kyoto. They continue to uphold the tradition of Kyoto cuisine and incorporate plenty of seasonal fresh fish into their dishes, offering both traditional Kyoto cuisine and a catering department.

I had the opportunity to try this bento at a work meeting. I had never heard of this shop before, and it seems like there are quite a few with the same name. The packaging gives off a sense of being a long-standing establishment. The overall balance of ingredients and seasoning gave me a very safe impression. I couldn't find any standout ingredients, it felt like a textbook bento. It's not bad. I didn't feel extremely satisfied, but I also didn't feel disappointed. I couldn't find any differences compared to other bentos.

This shop is located a little south of Kitaoji and Takagi-cho. There is a sign on Kitaoji Street. It has a garage. It is located in a quiet residential area. I went there a little before lunch, but there were no customers inside. The entrance of the shop is elegant and feels a bit intimidating. When I looked at the menu, I felt that the prices were high and it seemed like a place for lunch. I ordered the cheapest bento box. It came with clear soup with ground ingredients, grilled fish, rolled omelette, pickled vegetables, simmered dish, sashimi, etc. Eating this, you can be sure of your health.
