During dinner time out, I was looking for a teppanyaki or okonomiyaki place. The first two places I tried were unexpectedly closed, so I found this place through a quick search. It turned out to be a local okonomiyaki restaurant on the third floor of a building, popular among the locals. The flavors were stronger than I expected, but the edamame and chilled tomatoes I ordered were delicious. I also tried the grilled squid, which had a strong salty and spicy flavor, perfect for pairing with drinks. I ended the meal with mixed noodles, which also had a rich flavor profile. It seems like they cater to those who enjoy strong flavors. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Yakiudon set meal at Hanamizuki in Kyoto on March 30, 2022 (Wed). I traveled from Nagoya to Kyoto using JR Kyoto Station, which I haven't used in a long time. The station was quite crowded. I wanted to have Tanuki Udon for lunch, but the place I was planning to go to was unexpectedly closed. I was craving it! Since all the restaurants in the station seemed busy, I decided to quickly have ramen somewhere. However, the ramen shop I went to had a long line. I ended up at Hanamizuki, an okonomiyaki restaurant in Higashishio-koji-cho, Shimogyo-ku, in a building in front of Yodobashi Camera. I ordered the Yakiudon set meal for 690 yen. Finally, here it is - the start of a carb festival! The Yakiudon was delicious and served with nori and tamago on rice, which made it a satisfying meal. The dessert, shiratama anko, was also a nice treat after a long time. Thank you for the meal! (^^)

Behind Kyoto Station, on the backside of Yodobashi Camera, there is a restaurant called "Hanamizuki" where you can enjoy okonomiyaki. I went there alone after work for dinner. The restaurant is located on the third floor of a building, with 6 table seats surrounded by teppanyaki grills. It has a traditional dining hall atmosphere. They also offer set meals for lunch besides okonomiyaki, according to information online. I ordered the "Sujitama" okonomiyaki for 1200 yen, which was served on a plate. You can see that it is filled with plenty of suji meat. The okonomiyaki has a sticky texture with crunchy cabbage, and the flavor of the broth is rich, making it delicious even without sauce. The pickled ginger adds a simple and nice touch. The suji meat is not too soft, providing a good chewy texture. I also ordered the popular menu item, Kimchi Yakisoba for 1250 yen. The noodles are well flavored with kimchi, and it is quite spicy. Personally, I like kimchi with a rich flavor, but this one had a strong sour taste which I didn't enjoy much. They offer a free upsizing option, and I couldn't resist getting a larger portion, but it turned out to be too much for one person to finish. I managed to eat it all, but my stomach was completely full afterwards.

A small okonomiyaki restaurant located south of Yodobashi Camera in front of JR Kyoto Station. They do not serve okonomiyaki for lunch. Despite many people ordering the daily set meal, I chose the "Beef Curry Udon Set Meal". It comes in a pot and boils before being served. The curry has a mild spiciness, not too strong. The udon noodles are chewy and soft. Anmitsu is served as dessert after the meal.

I came around 7:00 PM on Sunday, November 22, 2020. The okonomiyaki, yakisoba, tomato, and pork kimchi were incredibly delicious and I was impressed. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calming and lovely. It's great that smoking is allowed, perfect for smokers. My mouth was filled with happiness. I am completely satisfied and full of happiness. Thank you for the wonderful meal. I will definitely come again. I appreciate all the ingredients in this world. Calling for delicious food♪ The more you eat, the more power overflows♪

Okonomiyaki mixed with yakisoba, pork, and squid. Beer. Visited with a junior colleague, just after getting off at Kyoto Station, in a drinking district nearby. The restaurant is a bit hard to find on the 3rd floor. The taste is good for both okonomiyaki and yakisoba. I would definitely go again when I come back to Kyoto.

I had a yakisoba set meal (around 700 yen). The set meal includes yakisoba, rice, miso soup, pickles, side dish, and anmitsu. It's a great value for the price. The yakisoba is not particularly unique, but it's always good. Overall, it's a great cost-performance ratio, so this restaurant might be worth a visit. Thank you for the meal.

I often go to this restaurant for lunch on weekdays. Today's daily special is "Simmered Hamburg." The lunch menu includes "Daily Special Set," "Yakisoba Set," and "Yakiudon Set," all served with rice, miso soup, pickles, side dish, furikake, and homemade shiratama anmitsu for only 665 yen! The generous portion at this price satisfies my stomach and is wallet-friendly. Located near Kyoto Station, it's a great deal for salarymen! Thank you always~

Located on the south side of Yodobashi Camera in front of Kyoto Station, this okonomiyaki restaurant is on the 3rd floor of a mixed-use building. You'll arrive at the entrance after taking a narrow elevator. It seems to be run by the same management as the café "Miwaku" on the 1st floor, as they share a website. The entrance advertises "Okonomiyaki Large Serving Day," where you can get a large serving for the regular price. This kind of service is great! The website also mentions a "Daily Specials Day! (Evenings only)," which includes the Okonomiyaki Large Serving Day and Yakisoba Large Serving Day. So, every day you can enjoy a large serving of okonomiyaki or yakisoba for the regular price! I personally prefer yakisoba, so I ordered that along with chicken thigh yakitori and a beer. The chicken was tender and well-seasoned, perfect with the beer. The yakisoba portion was decent, but the sauce flavor was a bit weak for my taste. There are many teppanyaki restaurants near Kyoto Station, but sometimes you just crave some yakisoba. This hidden gem is relatively easy to get into, but be prepared for longer wait times if it's busy since the owner runs the place alone. Just a heads up!

It had been a while since I had lunch with my colleague, so we were looking for a lunch place at Porta. Everywhere was full, so we headed up to the surface and towards Yodobashi. We saw a sign that said "Daily Special Set Meal for 650 yen" and my colleague and I looked at each other, not expecting much. We took the elevator to the 3rd floor and ordered the daily special set meal for today (Katsudon set meal). It arrived and we were surprised - it came on a half-moon tray with rice, Katsudon, miso soup, salad, cold tofu, pickles, and dessert, all for 650 yen. The taste was like homemade food and it was great. For me, it's a good restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

January 1, 2012 - Last day of the Kyoto trip. Although there was plenty of time before catching the Shinkansen back, unfortunately Nijo Castle was closed for New Year's Day. Come on, have some awareness as a tourist spot! I wanted to have lunch near the station, but surprisingly there weren't many open restaurants. As I walked around Kyoto Station, I found an okonomiyaki restaurant in a somewhat dubious-looking building. Even though there were restaurants in the station building or Kyoto Tower, I couldn't shake off the shady vibe. So, I decided to take a chance and go up to the 3rd floor! Upon entering the restaurant, it was a relatively normal okonomiyaki izakaya. The bright atmosphere inside was due to the large glass windows on almost all sides (except the kitchen side). Each table had a hot plate set up, and when the owner came to take our order and lit the fire, I initially thought it was a style where customers cook their own food, but it turned out the food was cooked in the kitchen. However, the final touch of adding sauce, seaweed, and bonito flakes was left to the customers. In addition to okonomiyaki, there were several teppanyaki menu items, so I started with salted grilled squid for beer snacks. It had just the right amount of garlic and went well with beer. Next, I tried the beef tendon okonomiyaki. The tendon was deliciously tender, but aside from that, it was just average. Well, it's been so many years since I last had okonomiyaki, so I'm not in a position to judge the taste. It's a bit stingy that there's so little seaweed and bonito flakes on the table. The owner seemed a bit gloomy, which was disappointing. The sound of the TV in the restaurant felt out of place (laughs). Well, it's okay for a quick drink and meal on the way back from work with a few people.

The inside of the restaurant has a nice atmosphere with wooden chairs and tables. The recommended dish is definitely the okonomiyaki, which is fluffy and delicious. They use Otafuku sauce, which is also great. They also offer the popular highball drink. There are days when you can get a large portion for the same price, so the large portion of yakisoba is too much for one person. Okonomiyaki starts at 680 yen and yakisoba starts at 735 yen. On rainy days, you can get a 100 yen discount on draft beer, which is a good deal. They also offer a free bottle of beer coupon for every 5000 yen spent, which is a nice service.

When I went near Kyoto Station, I remembered this restaurant on the back street of Kyoto Tower and decided to visit. The restaurant is located on the 3rd floor of a building. As soon as the elevator opened on the 3rd floor, I saw the curtain of the restaurant hanging right in front of me. I entered the restaurant thinking, "Hmm, this seems suspicious..." Inside, there were only 6 or 7 tables with teppanyaki grills where 4-5 people can sit. There was no counter, and the kitchen was not open to view. I visited after 7 pm, and there were only one other group of customers besides me. Maybe it was because of the rain? On rainy days, draft beer is discounted by 100 yen. I ordered draft beer (it was Asahi) and a squid pancake. The okonomiyaki restaurant I visited yesterday also served Asahi beer. I don't like it when the beer in okonomiyaki restaurants is Asahi because it affects the taste of the beer itself and the side dishes that go with it. I prefer my beer to be mixed with lemonade, but they didn't have lemonade on the menu (laughs). The squid pancake was seasoned with soy sauce and had a slight sweetness to it, similar to the taste of squid skewers at food stalls. It was decent. Then, I ordered pork and egg okonomiyaki. There was more pork on it than I expected. The sauce available on the table was only sweet sauce. The taste was... my mom wins (laughs). The restaurant is run by a couple, I think. The menu, including teppanyaki dishes, was limited. I had high expectations because it was ranked high, but... Well, this means that only the top 10 in the Kyoto okonomiyaki ranking that were reviewed by people from Kanto region were visited. Honestly... there are many delicious restaurants outside the top 10. I will explore restaurants not in the ranking in the future.

The location of the restaurant. The restaurant was located on the 3rd floor of a building between Kyoto Station and Yodobashi Camera in front of Kyoto Station. The atmosphere of the restaurant. It had an old-fashioned okonomiyaki restaurant vibe. In the evening, it seemed to be used more as an izakaya, with beer posters on the walls and a sign offering 100 yen off draft beer on rainy days. The service. Two veteran women were managing the hall. They were very efficient, quick to refill tea and pay attention to details, but they were mostly silent and worked quietly, making me wonder if the orders were being communicated properly. It was not a lively or bustling restaurant. The food. I had the yakisoba set meal. The udon was soft and tasted very ordinary, like the kind you can buy in a supermarket in a plastic bag. It felt more like the yakisoba you would get at a cafe or snack bar rather than an okonomiyaki restaurant. However, the set meal came with two side dishes (vermicelli salad and cold tofu), white rice, pickles, miso soup, and a small but satisfying anmitsu, which surprised me. The anmitsu had various toppings and was very delicious. The small shiratama balls had a nice texture. Conclusion. Apart from the yakisoba and yakisoba set meals, the daily specials for 655 yen with this amount of dishes and volume seemed really good. I am curious about trying the beef tendon curry udon set meal, so I would like to challenge it if I have the opportunity.

Wandering around the south side of Yodobashi and seeing a sign advertising lunch for ¥650, three of us girls decided to give it a try. That day's special was a hamburger set meal. It came with rice, miso soup, cold tofu, a Chinese-style vermicelli dish, pickles, sweet red bean soup, and furikake seasoning on the side. The portion size was huge and definitely worth the price! Most of the other customers were men. The rice portion was quite large, and I felt bad for leaving some, but I'm sure salarymen would appreciate it. The taste was average, a bit on the bland side. The hamburger was also average. It was served with shredded cabbage, a fried egg, and lotus root chips. This place is great for those looking for a cheap, filling meal near Kyoto Station. It's run by a group of older ladies and has a nostalgic atmosphere, with a TV playing in the background. If you're on a date with a girlfriend who loves fancy places, it might not be the best choice... haha. As others have mentioned, they also serve cheap draft beer, so I might come back for dinner sometime. Thank you for the meal! (^◇^)

I recommend the yakisoba set for lunchtime. This restaurant specializes in teppanyaki, so yakisoba is a good choice for a midday meal. They also have okonomiyaki, but it might be a bit time-consuming for a lunch break. Plus, the price is reasonable, staying within 1000 yen, and it comes with rice, miso soup, and pickles, making it quite a filling meal.

This is an okonomiyaki restaurant located behind Kyoto Tower. When I went on a weekday night, the restaurant was deserted with no other customers, but the food was quite delicious. The okonomiyaki was fluffy and the yakisoba had thick, chewy noodles that were tasty. Prices start at 735 yen, which is reasonable. Depending on the day, they offer free upsizes on okonomiyaki or yakisoba, and on rainy days, there's a 100 yen discount on beer.
