This shop in Nishijin is a popular spot for locals, offering a variety of side dishes and bento boxes. Unlike traditional "obanzai" shops, this place focuses more on offering delicious side dishes and bento boxes, which truly captures the essence of Kyoto. The concept of "obanzai" may be confusing for those who are not familiar with it, as it is similar to the idea of finding a good staff meal in Tokyo. I recently visited this shop on a chilly day and was impressed by the selection of dishes. I tried the "Buri Nitsuke Bento" which featured simmered yellowtail, spinach with sesame dressing, simmered fuki (butterbur), potato salad, and pickles. Each dish was well-seasoned and the bento box had a rich flavor. The combination of flaky yellowtail and rice was a true delight. I also enjoyed the simmered fuki and baby sardines, as well as the simmered taro, which had a perfect soft texture. While the prices were a bit high, the quality of the food justified it. Overall, this shop offers a wide variety of delicious dishes and I would definitely visit again.

This seems to be a review of a bento shop located diagonally across from Ten no Shizuku, a place that the reviewer frequented occasionally. The shop is larger and offers a wide variety of dishes, mainly focusing on traditional Japanese side dishes. The reviewer notes that the shop seems to lean towards traditional Japanese cuisine, possibly due to being run by older individuals. Customers can choose pre-made side dishes to go with their rice. The reviewer mentions ordering a white fish fry bento for 680 yen, but the portion ended up being larger than expected, which threw off the balance of the meal. Despite the higher price, the reviewer found the contents of the bento to be healthy and visually appealing. The white fish fry had a slightly hard texture, and the other side dishes, while appearing mild, had a stronger flavor than expected. Overall, the bento was well-made, but the price was a drawback. The reviewer hopes that both this shop and Ten no Shizuku can continue to thrive in the area. If they feel like having traditional Japanese side dishes in the future, they would consider visiting this shop again.
