The Katsu Curry Donburi (mild level 1, ¥900) was not as spicy as I thought, which was a relief! Each bite had a hint of sweetness from the onions. The crispy katsu was juicy and delicious. I would love to try the sweet and spicy Katsu Donburi next time! They have parking available, so I highly recommend this place!

Located on the northern side of Kameoka City in Kyoto Prefecture, there is a restaurant facing National Route 9 along the Chiyogawa River. Although the name includes "donburi," they offer a variety of set meals as well, so it's not strictly a donburi specialty shop. The restaurant cleverly utilizes its narrow land space, and despite the impression from the exterior, there are quite a few seats inside, maybe around 15. There is parking space for 7-8 cars, with 3 spots within the restaurant premises and 4-5 spots in the neighboring drugstore parking lot. The convenience of entering and exiting is better from the drugstore side, so it's recommended to park there. I ordered the Sauce Chicken Cutlet Set for 1000 yen (tax included). It came with generous portions of rice and cabbage. There seemed to be tartar sauce on top of the cabbage, and tonkatsu sauce-like condiment on the chicken cutlet. Everything was generously portioned. The cutlet was crispy and freshly fried, with a rich flavor. I couldn't stop myself from scooping up the rice. Although I was a bit worried about finishing the generous amount of white rice, it was not a problem at all. This is a great place to stop by when you want to eat a hearty meal and it's very satisfying.

There were many menus displayed in front of the store, giving off a casual rice bowl vibe that had caught my interest before... The store and entrance were small, which made me feel a bit hesitant to enter. However, once inside, I was greeted by the cooking area, with three seats on the right and a few more in the back. The owner, who was cooking, called out to me. There were no cushions, and it was a bit chilly, probably due to the ventilation. I had the sauce tonkatsu rice bowl. My companion had the sweet and spicy tonkatsu rice bowl. The tonkatsu portion was generous, and the sauce was deliciously soaked in.

On a regular Thursday at 12:55, there were 3 customers who entered the restaurant. They ordered a large sweet and spicy pork cutlet bowl for ¥1000 including tax, and changed to a small udon for an additional ¥200 including tax, totaling ¥1200 including tax. The food arrived 14 minutes after ordering! The portion was generous and the sweet and spicy flavor was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

My wife and I happened to stop by this restaurant while we were out for a drive. They asked us to wear masks and requested that we refrain from talking once we took them off, which was great for COVID-19 prevention. The owner kindly reminded us of this, so we felt at ease. My wife ordered the chicken cutlet set meal, and I had a hard time deciding but ended up choosing the curry udon, which is the most popular dish. It was served in a large bowl with plenty of curry broth. The flavor of the broth was fantastic, and it paired perfectly with the thin Kyoto-style udon noodles. The onions in the curry were cooked to perfection and added a delicious touch. I also tried a piece of the chicken cutlet, which was also very tasty. My wife was satisfied with her meal as well.

Located in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture, this restaurant is near Chiyogawa Station along Route 9. It looks like it could start running at any moment. The interior is small, with the kitchen on the right as you enter. There are table seats, but no counter.
I ordered the Trio Katsu Teishoku (small, 1,100 yen), which includes tonkatsu, chicken katsu, and menchikatsu. It's a dream team! First, I quietly finished the salad... Tonkatsu and chicken katsu are lightly fried. The menchikatsu is juicy! Each goes well with the sauce. The rice is cooked perfectly, and the miso soup is flavorful.
The parking lot is spacious and easy to access. If you're looking for fried food around Chiyogawa, this is the place to go!

A restaurant that always seems to be busy whenever I come, making it unclear when it's actually available. Finally tried the parent-child rice bowl and tonkatsu, both were just average. The portion size was generous.

It's convenient to have the option of choosing from large, medium, or small sizes for the donburi. I had the sweet and savory chicken katsu donburi, and the sweetness of the sauce was really nice. I'm looking forward to what to eat next time.

On a regular Wednesday at 12:30, I entered the restaurant. It was not crowded. I parked in the dedicated parking lot next to Drug Yutaka. I decided on the "Sweet and Spicy Pork Cutlet Bowl" that I liked last time! ● Sweet and Spicy Pork Cutlet Bowl (Large) 1000 yen tax included, with miso soup. Large serving comes with about 380g of rice. ● Changed miso soup to small udon +200 yen tax included. The total was 1200 yen tax included. It arrived 15 minutes after ordering. Now, the first bite! It's delicious (^_^) The strong sweetness and spiciness go well with the rice, and it feels like you can eat as much as you want. However, with the large 380g serving and small udon, the quantity was too much, and I struggled towards the end! But it was delicious until the end. Thank you for the meal.

- Visited on a regular Thursday at 2:00 PM. Only one customer. Remembered when En Hiroshi from Kansai TV's "Yo-i Don!" visited the shop while ordering! Ordered the "Tonkatsu set meal (medium) for 900 yen" and upgraded to a small udon instead of miso soup for an additional 200 yen. Located along Route 9 with parking for about 10 cars, making it easy to access. Last order for lunch seems to be at 2:30 PM.
- Visited on a regular Thursday at 11:40 AM. No other customers. Ordered the "Sweet and Spicy Tonkatsu Donburi (medium size) for 900 yen," upgraded to a small udon instead of miso soup for an additional 200 yen, and a "Mini Salad for 200 yen." Total of 1300 yen. The donburi had a large portion of tonkatsu with a generous amount of sweet sauce over the rice, very delicious ^_^ Opening hours are at 11:00 AM, closed on Sundays.

Yo-i Don (Sweet and Spicy Pork Cutlet Bowl)
Located at 1-3-4 Ogawa, Chiyogawa-cho, Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture
I visited this restaurant in Kameoka City, Kyoto, after searching for a good Katsudon (pork cutlet bowl) online. I was feeling tired after a night shift, but the ample parking space and proximity to JR Chiyogawa Station made it convenient to visit. The restaurant, named "Yo-i Don," offers a wide variety of menu items, including set meals and izakaya dishes, in addition to their specialty donburi bowls.
After some deliberation, I decided to order the "Sweet and Spicy Pork Cutlet Bowl." The dish arrived with a rich and flavorful sauce, although it wasn't as intensely sweet and spicy as I had hoped. The finely chopped onions added a delicious depth of flavor, complementing the tender pork cutlets. The portion size was satisfying, with two rows of cutlets generously piled on top of the rice.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal and look forward to trying their set meals on my next visit. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I went to the store I was looking for and it was open. I ordered the hamburger steak set meal at a restaurant called "Yo-i Don" in Chiyo River Town, Kameoka City. The amount of rice was large and I was full. The taste was also very delicious. Next time, I want to try the most popular tonkatsu set meal or katsu-don. I think it would be even better if the service was a little friendlier... but the food had a definite taste. At that time, some rowdy customers were there which made me uncomfortable (separate issue).

After passing noon, I felt hungry and while driving on Route 9, I spotted an interesting restaurant called "Yoi Don" near the intersection heading towards the Chiyogawa entrance of the Kyoto Jukan Expressway. I was hungry and being a fan of rice bowls, I wanted to visit this restaurant. I made a U-turn and parked my car in the parking lot next to Drug Yutaka. The parking space can accommodate about 10 cars, which was convenient, and the restaurant seemed welcoming. The walls of the restaurant were filled with various menu options. I was a bit indecisive about what to order, but I decided to go with the top-ranked dish from last month, the "Tonkatsu Don" priced at 800 yen. The restaurant also offered a variety of set meals, including a 700 yen set meal with grilled fish, catering to a wide range of customer needs. The restaurant had about 7 tables, and there were already two groups of customers dining. The space between tables was not very wide, so it might feel a bit cramped when crowded. After about 10 minutes, the food was served. I started with the miso soup, which was decent with seaweed and wheat gluten. The Tonkatsu Don was as expected, with a generous portion and a sweet flavor that had soaked into the rice. The pork cutlet was thick and had a good chewy texture, although it lacked juiciness. Overall, the cost-performance, taste, service, and atmosphere were decent, and the availability of parking was a big plus. I would rate it 3.5 stars out of 5 (68/100).

I was looking forward to it, but unfortunately the dishes were disappointing. The second most popular pork cutlet bowl had a broth that was too sweet and salty. The thickness of the breading and the meat was balanced, but... The grated chicken cutlet set meal had an overwhelmingly salty ponzu sauce, and the vegetable salad apparently smelled a bit. I won't be coming back.

This shop is called "Yo-i Don"! It's a specialty donburi (rice bowl dish) shop, so exciting, right?! The shop isn't very big, but they have a wide variety of menu options that will make any donburi lover like you ponder what to choose. I had the simple oyakodon, and let me tell you, the size of the bowl and the amount of rice is generous! They also offer set meals, so honestly, I don't think you'll get tired of it even if you come here every week. It's located on Route 9, so it's easy to find. Plus, there's a large parking lot, making it convenient to stop by with family or friends for lunch. Why not give it a try?
