After finishing an exam, my colleagues and I visited a restaurant located just off the main street in Gion. There is a separate establishment with the same name next door, so be careful when entering. The obanzai set and summer pot set (featuring conger eel) were excellent. We enjoyed local sake and delicious snacks at the beautiful counter, making for a perfect way to unwind after the exam.

Thursday 16:30, no waiting. Cucumber and octopus appetizer, Kamo eggplant miso dengaku, black edamame, shrimp spring rolls, 3 beers, 3 sours, around 17,000 yen. The Kamo eggplant miso dengaku was delicious! It looked beautiful too! You can find eggplant dengaku and hamo in Kyoto, but personally I think they are good here. The portion sizes are decent for each dish, so I recommend sharing with 2 people. It may be considered upscale in Kyoto, so if you're looking for a restaurant, try here. It might be reasonable for 2 people. The interior is clean and has a nice atmosphere.

I visited Kyoto for sightseeing and had a great experience in the middle of Gion. The cost performance, taste, and everything else were good! I would like to visit again. There were a variety of drinks available, including different types of Japanese sake from Kyoto and other regions, which was nice. The side dishes were also good!

Two people, one man and one woman, used this restaurant. One person was returning to Kyoto from Tokyo after a long time, so we chose a restaurant that represents Kyoto. We had dishes such as grilled conger eel, assorted sashimi, simmered octopus, nuta (miso-based sauce), tofu, minced meat and leek wrapped in cabbage, deep-fried eggplant with sea bream shabu, onigiri (rice balls), and ochazuke (rice with tea poured over it). Everything was delicious. For drinks, we had alcohol like Yamazaki highball x4, oolong tea x2. The total bill was around 21,000 yen, which I think is quite reasonable.

I visited the restaurant after making a reservation to try the conger eel shabu-shabu. I went on a Saturday night and the counter was full with just one gentleman. My companion and I ordered conger eel shabu-shabu, nama-fu miso dengaku, assorted sashimi, eggplant with ponzu jelly. The conger eel shabu-shabu had a delicious broth and the meat was light and perfect for the hot summer. It had plenty of green onions which seemed like it would boost immunity. The assorted sashimi was also delicious with a variety of fresh fish.

We went to a restaurant for a banquet. There is a large room on the second floor of the restaurant, and you can drink all-you-can-drink sake. The first course had a lot of dishes, which was just the right amount for drinking. We were able to keep up the good mood until the end. The next course included a sashimi platter, fried dishes, duck breast, Thai-style dishes, and various other items. We drank and drank, got drunk, and there was still food left. We finished with mixed rice and miso soup. You can enjoy a variety of alcohols such as draft beer, highball, shochu, sake, and more.

Duck roast, fried taro shrimp, and ofu no tadaku miso. By the way, I heard you haven't tried taro shrimp, so I wandered around Gion looking for it. I think there was a restaurant called Kaburaya in Tokyo, but I'm not sure if it's the same. Anyway, I'm full but I had taro shrimp before heading home.

♡【Gion Kaburaya】♡ Kyoto ❤️ Located in Gion Shijo, this restaurant offers a variety of Kyoto cuisine and carefully selected local sake. It is perfect for enjoying authentic Kyoto dishes and sake. The restaurant is a 4-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, making it easily accessible. However, it may be a bit tricky to find as it is located off Hanamikoji Street, down a narrow alley. Look for the shop curtain as a landmark. I made a reservation and arrived at 7:00 PM. The restaurant was bustling with customers when I entered. The interior is relatively bright with many table seats. There are also various private rooms available for different group sizes. We were seated at the counter since there were two of us. The menu features mainly Kyoto cuisine and a wide selection of Kyoto sake. The interior has a calm and sophisticated atmosphere with black tables and chairs. The dishes were all delicious, including the horse sashimi in the first photo. This restaurant lived up to the reputation of Kyoto eateries not disappointing. I would love to visit again if given the chance! ♡ Restaurant Name: Gion Kaburaya Reservation: Available Access: 5-minute walk from Keihan Shijo Station, 8-minute walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station, 215m from Gion Shijo Station Business Hours: 17:00-22:00 (Last Order: Food 9:00 PM / Drinks 9:30 PM) Closed: January 1st, January 2nd, Irregular holidays (announced on SNS) ♡ #Kaburaya

I visited this restaurant located in Gion, passing through a dimly lit path lined with quaint buildings from Yasaka Shrine and Kodai-ji Temple. Although they have a separate building where you can only enjoy course meals, I opted for a table in the tatami room for a relaxed experience. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes featuring locally sourced vegetables, seasonal fish, and a wide selection of local sake. I ordered a beer and a variety of dishes including appetizers, tempura with sea urchin, sashimi platter, roast beef, eggplant dish, rolled seafood with green onion, cream cheese miso, and assorted Kyoto pickles. The black soybeans, eggplant dish, and rolled seafood with green onion were particularly delicious. I also enjoyed sake from Kyoto's Sawaya Matsumoto, Fukui's Kokuryu, and Kyoto's Kyonamazui. The staff was attentive and split a bowl of udon with green onion sauce for us as a perfect ending to the meal. Although it's a bit pricey, the delicious food and local sake made me want to stay longer. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I visited because I really wanted to eat buri shabu-shabu! They always serve yellowtail shabu-shabu in the winter, which makes me happy. They also have other menu items using Kyoto vegetables and obanzai dishes that were delicious. Located in Gion, it's a place where you can enjoy the atmosphere of Kyoto.

I went to Kyoto with the GOTO Travel campaign and had a meal at this Kabura-ya restaurant that I had reserved with GOTO EAT. I quickly reached the budget limit with GOTO EAT, so this was the last restaurant where I could make a reservation and earn points. We ordered various dishes using Kyoto ingredients. The dishes we ordered were: deep-fried taro, fried eggplant with dashi, shredded leek salad, grilled tofu, salad with dried baby sardines and daikon radish, grilled chicken with miso marinade, beef with leeks in sweet and sour sauce, deep-fried taro in miso, spring rolls with leeks and seafood. We also had about two drinks each, and the total bill for 3 people was just over 13,000 yen. Everything was delicious!

It was delicious. As a traveler, I stopped by this restaurant in search of reasonably priced Kyoto cuisine and local sake. I enjoyed dishes such as Kyoto duck roast, grilled Manjanshi pepper, simmered fu with miso, and island wild leek tempura. The sake I tried were Yuiho and Shuppari's test brewing. The latter had a unique texture that complemented the meal well. It was quiet on a weekday due to the influence of COVID-19, but I imagine this place is usually bustling. I would like to visit this restaurant again.

The restaurant "Kabura-ya" offers Kyoto cuisine using carefully selected Kyoto vegetables and seasonal ingredients at izakaya prices. Their specialty is the delicious yellowtail shabu-shabu. The dish includes fresh yellowtail, premium Kujyo green onions grown by Kyoto's top producer Mr. Konishi, ripe onions from Awaji Island, Kamo tofu from Kin-ki tofu in Kiyamachi, Kyoto, and other selected ingredients. The course menu includes smoked chicken chawanmushi, seasonal tempura, udon noodles for the finale, and yuzu sherbet for dessert. The yellowtail is delicious even when eaten with just salt.

Head south on Hanamikoji Street. Turn right at the first alley and you will find the restaurant on your left. Inside, it has a bright yet cozy atmosphere, like a good tavern. - Appetizer (simmered daikon radish and fried tofu): A warming dish that is delicious. The texture of the daikon radish is great. - Assorted Kyoto vegetables (1150 yen): Surprisingly tasty with dishes like seasoned tofu in broth and turnip salad with a crunchy texture different from radishes. - Wasabi pickles: Delicious flavor with a bit of spiciness, perfect for enjoying with sake. - Kyoto-style udon with Kyo-no-ichibanchi green onion and fried tofu (850 yen): Kyoto udon is served in a thick sauce, with chewy and soft noodles and a gentle broth. - Ginnan (gingko nuts): Enjoy soft gingko nuts with a perfect level of roasting. - Jazzberry beer: A beer with a berry aroma that is delicious. The dishes have a gentle Kyoto-style seasoning that doesn't overpower the ingredients, allowing you to savor them slowly.

On a regular Wednesday, the restaurant opens at 5:00 PM and customers were already lining up before opening. There are three entrances, but the leftmost one seems to be the main entrance. I had been there once in the past. I called ahead to make a reservation and was told that a 2-hour limit was possible, with the option to extend if it wasn't too crowded after 2 hours. In the end, I was able to stay for over 4 hours, contributing significantly to their sales. I was seated at a table, but there was also a counter where one could easily come alone. The seating charge was ¥400 including tax. We ordered a variety of dishes including chilled tomatoes, assorted sashimi, firefly squid with vinegar miso, assorted side dishes, simmered octopus, white fish tempura, fava bean tempura, wasabi leaf pickles, sushi pizza, rolled omelette, deep-fried chicken tails, and drinks. The standout dishes were the sushi pizza and the wasabi leaf pickles, which had a unique and interesting flavor. We had a lot to talk about work-related matters and ended up staying for over 4 hours. We also had a total of 32 drinks among the three of us. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. Thank you for the delicious meal.

There is a shop on Hanami Koji street. It's located along the path of tourists from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station. Ah, this is Kyoto. The shop's appearance is very Kyoto-like. The interior is also very clean. It's so clean that it's almost not Kyoto-like, but the dishes use Kyoto vegetables and have a Kyoto-like feel. Everything was delicious. The Japanese sake was also excellent. In terms of cost performance, considering the location, it seems about right.

On this day, I was tasked with choosing a restaurant for a celebration with acquaintances. Since the guest of honor on this day is a fan of Japanese sake, I chose this restaurant which seemed to have a wide variety of local sake. It is located just off the Hanami-koji street in Gion, and the location is easy to find. We took off our shoes at the entrance and went upstairs. There were tables on tatami mats. Due to an approaching typhoon, there were few customers that day, creating a somewhat private atmosphere. We raised our glasses with our respective drinks! The first drink was draft beer. The food included an assortment of obanzai (Kyoto-style side dishes) and sashimi platter. The obanzai included red konjac and roasted duck breast, all of which were delicious. The sashimi was fresh with ingredients like conger eel, tuna, sea bream, and marinated mackerel. The yuba (tofu skin) and tofu salad had a crunchy texture and was a Kyoto-style dish. It was time to switch to sake. The menu included New Government No. 6, which got me excited as I had been impressed by its taste before but had trouble finding it at other places. I took a sip and confirmed its deliciousness once again! I recommended it to the sake-loving guest of honor, who was delighted by its taste. We also ordered steamed vegetables, dashimaki (rolled omelette), fried taro, and eel sushi rolls. We switched to Kubota sake, which had a smooth and easy-to-drink taste. I wanted to have another round of New Government sake, but it seemed they had run out. This restaurant not only had a wide selection of local sake but also offered a variety of food options. You can experience the traditional Kyoto atmosphere and the beautiful presentation of dishes. Despite being located in Gion, the prices were reasonable. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The store is great, located on a side street just south of Shijo Street. I tried the fugu shabu shabu plan and it was excellent in terms of both quantity and quality, great value for money, and I left feeling full. I would like to visit again when the seasons change.
