On a cold day when the cold returned, I felt like having a warm soup, so I visited this shop in Ichijoji. Although the shop's name includes soba, I wanted to warm up, so I chose the tanuki udon. My companion had the oyako nanba soba. The menu was filled with comments, showing the owner's dedication. Soon, the tanuki udon arrived, steaming hot with a translucent thick broth, topped with aburaage, green onions, grated ginger, and the refreshing aroma of the fox. The noodles were thin, with a soft and smooth texture typical of Kyoto. The broth had a refined flavor of kombu and bonito, typical of Kyoto. In winter, tanuki is the way to go in Kyoto. I also tried a bite of my companion's oyako nanba soba. The soba had a good texture, with a fluffy egg and chewy chicken. Although the price was high, the deliciousness was satisfying. The appetizer menu also had delicious comments, making it a great value for use as an izakaya.

I chose potato salad as a snack for the alcohol. After that, I ate various other dishes, and finished with Nameko Oroshi Soba. It was the best! During the winter, the temperature of the hot sake was perfectly managed. Throughout the four seasons, you can enjoy sake and snacks that match the season, and finish with soba, which is very satisfying. I was a bit too loud last time, so today I kept it low-key.

It's a soba restaurant where you can enjoy delicious food and drinks at night. I really liked the salmon and celery miso soup and the zenzai dessert I had as a closer. It was a cold day, so the warming dishes were comforting and delicious. The zenzai had soba seeds as toppings, which added a nice flavor.

I was invited by a friend to visit this restaurant. It was bustling with regular customers. You can enjoy a variety of dishes here. I tried the fried matsutake mushrooms for the first time, and they were delicious. I finished my meal with bukkake soba, which was truly tasty. The prices are not cheap, but you can taste the effort put into the dishes and soba. The nearest station is Ichijoji, and although the transportation is not very convenient, it's worth a visit.

To Sobatsuru in Ichijoji. This soba restaurant is located in a ramen alley and offers not only soba and rice bowls, but also a variety of appetizers and sake options. I had been interested in this place for a while and finally visited for the first time. Since I drove there this time, I opted for just the soba. I ordered the tempura soba and the grated yam rice. Each menu item had detailed descriptions, showing the attention to detail in the ingredients. However, the prices were a bit on the higher side. The tempura soba came with soba and tempura served separately. The tempura included 2 prawn tempura and nori tempura. Personally, I prefer to put all the tempura on the soba. The flavorful soba broth paired well with the juicy prawn tempura. While the tempura soba was delicious, it was not drastically different from what I usually eat. The grated yam rice, on the other hand, was outstanding. According to the description, it featured authentic Tanba tsukune yam topped with local chicken egg. The stickiness of the grated yam was impressive, and the richness of the egg yolk added to the delicious flavor. They also offer a grated yam porridge, which I might prefer next time. I will definitely come back to enjoy a leisurely drink here next time, perhaps by train or some other means.

From Demachiyanagi, take the Eizan train for a few stops, get off at Ichijoji Station, and walk for about 4 minutes down a small alley where you'll find a house converted into a soba restaurant called "Soba Tsuru." My original plan was to visit the somewhat niche bookstore called Keibunsha, but my friend suggested, "There's a delicious soba restaurant nearby!" The exterior of the restaurant is typical of a local soba shop, with a counter and 6-7 tables inside, but as soon as we sat at the counter, we had a lively conversation with the owner and his wife. We even received a sample of the salt soba broth and talked about the ingredients, making it a quite enjoyable time. Highly recommended dishes include: - Matcha and soba flour sweets (price unknown) - Dashimaki Tamago (Japanese rolled omelette) for ¥750 - Sakura shrimp tempura (price unknown) - Salt soba for ¥800 - Conger eel tempura soba for ¥1,800 - Homemade pudding for ¥500 The matcha and soba flour sweets were a first for me, with a Kyoto-like matcha flavor and a soba shop touch. The rolled omelette had a fluffy texture and a mild taste, similar to the one from "Nanaji" last night. The salt soba was quite original, made only with salt and kelp, and tasted incredibly salty on its own, but surprisingly refreshing when mixed with the soba. The homemade pudding by the owner's wife was steamed due to the lack of an oven, with a hint of rum that made it a sophisticated treat. In addition to these, the restaurant offers a variety of rice dishes, donburi, and small plates, including a white rice dumpling with red bean soup. Every dish we tried was excellent, so I'm sure the rest of the menu is equally delicious. I believe even if you visit alone, you'll have a great time at the counter seat. I'll definitely be back. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Exactly one year later! I thought the same this time too, but it would be great if there was a restaurant like this nearby. Katsuo, hamo, unagi, and seiro on rice. Along with Hebess Sour and Shiso Sour. I'm happy to finally get the T-shirt I've been wanting. I'll definitely come back.

I was guided to this restaurant by a friend, and it was absolutely wonderful. I loved it. The selection of sake and delicious dishes were outstanding. Some of the highlights were: leaf and aburaage appetizer (so happy), octopus tartare (exquisite), dashimaki tamago (perfectly cooked), chicken with sansho pepper (so flavorful), negi tempura (so good I had seconds), pickled eggplant (refreshing). I can't remember what else I ate, I even forgot to take photos. The siblings who run the place (I heard there are three of them) were great at conversation and making sure we had a good time. I was so caught up in the fun and joy that I ended up eating too much before my soba arrived. I definitely want to come back.

Onejoji is known for the famous Ichijo Sagari Matsus where Miyamoto Musashi confronted the Yoshioka school, and also for being the home of the highly regarded bookstore, Keibunsha. Being close to Kyoto University, it also has a more down-to-earth side as a town where students live. I was introduced to this local soba restaurant by a friend who knows good food, and decided to visit while visiting Shimogamo Shrine. The restaurant had a great selection of soba dishes and also served as a nice bar. They offered a variety of sake, including rare ones like doburoku soda mix. I tried the seasonal sashimi, chicken with sansho pepper, hirakatsu, and beef tendon oden, all of which were delicious and comforting. The soba broth wasn't the best I've had in Kyoto, but it was still very tasty. The atmosphere was lively and pleasant, run by three young siblings. The older brothers were in charge of the kitchen, while the younger sister managed the front of the house. The best thing about this restaurant was the friendly and youthful atmosphere. I believe it would be a convenient and enjoyable place to visit if it were in my neighborhood. I look forward to seeing how this young team will continue to evolve in the future.

It's been a while since I visited Sobatsuru. This area is famous for its ramen battles. It's been a while since I had soba. If you want to enjoy the scent of new soba, you should go for the regular mori, but for some reason, I ended up ordering the "yuzu soba" after looking at the menu. I also ordered a tempura bowl. The key to the tempura bowl is the sauce that has been added for 50 years since its establishment. It's quite sweet. As for the yuzu soba, it naturally has a yuzu scent. As a result, the scent of soba is not as noticeable. This is to be expected.

Kyoto. A small restaurant in Ichijoji where you can enjoy delicious closing soba. I was recommended this place by a bartender who said, "Local people often go there," "Japanese food," and "Prices range from 5000 to 8000 yen for two people." So, on a day with drizzling rain in Kyoto, I visited this restaurant, which I hadn't been to in years, and borrowed an umbrella from the Kyoto City Hall to take a bus to Ichijoji. Ichijoji is known for its fierce ramen competition, so I was a bit skeptical that there would be a place where you could actually have soba in that area. I entered the restaurant without a reservation and was seated at a table. I ordered the following: - Potato salad... The potatoes had a different color! Crispy and delicious. - Dashimaki tamago... They really know how to sell soba. Fluffy dashimaki tamago. - Fried conger eel... Conger eel is a must in Kyoto's summer! Goes perfectly with tartar sauce!! Highly recommended!! - Zaru soba... A 70-30 soba with a strong buckwheat flavor. Paired with the refreshing summer version of the sake "Benten Musume" and another sake (I forgot the brand). The total came to about 7000 yen. The regular customers at the counter were chatting happily with the chef, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was not pretentious but rather cozy and welcoming. I wish there was a place like this near my home. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

About twenty years ago, my daughter, who was a university student at the time, used to live nearby. There is a natural super help store and an interesting bookstore called Keibunsha in the area. Back then, Bistro Alsace was often empty and my daughter and I would spend a lot of time there. Now it's a popular spot! So, I didn't have the option to come here this time. When I go out into the city, I always make sure to stop by the super help store parking lot where I can see the sign of the shop. Finally, I went in for lunch! I had the soba set with vegetable tempura. Even though it's July, it has been raining a lot and quite chilly, so I opted for warm soba. I changed the white rice to mixed rice. For dessert, I had shiratama red bean with homemade stone-ground flour and homemade noodles. I chose the kakesoba, so I couldn't really tell the difference, but it felt like a typical soba shop in town. The shiratama red bean was delicious, with crunchy and fragrant soba seeds as toppings. This place seems like it would be great for dinner too, with so many delicious dishes on the menu. I would love to come back at night!

A soba restaurant where you can enjoy delicious soba and a side dish. The staff seemed to be chatting casually with locals even when there were customers, which was a bit distracting. The side dishes were all tasty, but ordering too much can add up to a hefty bill that doesn't quite match the image of a soba restaurant... However, as I had heard, the soba was very delicious and they had a wide variety of options, so just thinking about what to try next time is enjoyable.

I usually come to Ichijoji for ramen, but today my friend introduced me to this soba restaurant. When I arrived a little after the opening time on Saturday, there were several local people dining. I ordered the tenzaru soba, kakiage don, dashimaki tamago, and gyu-kon for 4,900 yen. The soba had a normal texture and flavor, but the price was quite high. On the other hand, the tamago and gyu-kon were really delicious. Without a doubt, ordering just sake and side dishes without soba would be the best choice at this restaurant. It's difficult to evaluate, but since it's a soba restaurant, I will include the soba in my rating. Without the soba, I would give it a 3.8-4.0 rating. I would like to come back at night next time with my colleagues from work.

The tempura green onions, ikura rice, an sauce soba, katsu-ni, shiso sour, and rum-soaked pudding were all delicious and had a lovely Kyoto vibe. I will definitely be back for lunch and dinner soon.

Tempura is extremely delicious. The soba is also decently tasty. The flavor is unquestionable. The prices are a bit high. Considering the current situation, it's hard to deny that it's delicious. However, is it okay for all the staff to not wear masks? Seeing regular customers drinking alcohol and chatting with the staff on a weekday afternoon, it feels like a place with a strong drinking atmosphere. It doesn't seem like the kind of place where you can just drop in and relax, which is a shame considering how good the food is.

I was recommended by a former colleague from my previous job. The number of menu items is astonishing compared to the number of seats. There is also a wide variety of Japanese sake available. If this restaurant were near my home, I would want to visit twice a week.
