When you go up the stairs in the middle of the platform at JR Kyoto Station, you come out near the entrance of Isetan, and right before you exit the ticket gate, on the right hand side next to the bento shop, there was a black sign that said "Le Petit Mech JR Kyoto Station". It's a small shop that is easily overlooked in a busy area of Kyoto Station. I finally noticed it after a long time because I haven't been traveling out of the prefecture due to the pandemic and have been avoiding crowded places. There was no line, maybe because it's a pass-through area in the station, and people just quickly buy a few pastries. The number of people passing through is very high. I had some time when I visited, so I stood back a bit, looked around, and then placed my order. They sell pastries face-to-face in front of the display case. - Croissant Amande (Almond Croissant) 390 yen tax included - Apple and Cream Cheese Brioche 340 yen tax included - Baguette Chocolat 270 yen tax included - Bagel (White Fig and Walnut) 300 yen tax included - Bagel (Blueberry and Cream Cheese) 340 yen tax included - Pissaladiere 340 yen tax included Total 6 items 1,980 yen tax included I didn't eat them all at once, I froze the bagels for later. The Croissant Amande was delicious with plenty of almonds, crispy and sweet. The Apple and Cream Cheese Brioche had a lot of cream cheese along with the apple. The Baguette Chocolat was for my family who loves chocolate. It's a sweet baguette with a good amount of chocolate kneaded in. The White Fig and Walnut Bagel was to my liking. The Blueberry and Cream Cheese Bagel was okay for me even without the cream cheese. The dough was pleasantly chewy. The Pissaladiere was a bread I hesitated to buy, with black olives on top. If you eat it without knowing the flavor, you might be surprised. Imagine a taste with plenty of anchovies used. It had a salty taste, so it would go well with some snacks and alcohol. I look forward to trying new products at the bakery when I visit next time. It's a small space, but it's convenient for me at Kyoto Station, so I'm grateful. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Le Petit Mec JR Kyoto Station for some take away bread. It's very convenient to be able to purchase bread inside the station. - Ciabatta / 160 yen Italian bread with olive oil in the dough. Great for pairing with dishes or making sandwiches. - Half Green Olive and Cheese Baguette / 300 yen French bread dough fermented for a long time, mixed with green olives and cheese. - Half Baguette Rustique / 170 yen The dough is minimally handled during shaping, resulting in a thinner crust compared to a regular baguette, highlighting the sweetness of the dough. Among the breads I bought, I particularly liked the "Green Olive and Cheese Baguette". The balance of the mild saltiness of the green olives and the savory cheese is good! Being able to buy a half portion is also nice. I enjoyed the bread. Thank you for the meal.

This is a bakery located on the second floor heading towards platforms 32 and 33 inside JR Kyoto Station. Their almond croissant with red tea for 400 yen is dense and chewy, with delicious red tea cream. The mocha for 340 yen melts the chocolate just by carrying it, but when chilled in the fridge at home, the crunchy texture of almonds and chocolate, along with plenty of cream, is appealing. While the price of 740 yen (tax included) for two items is higher than regular bread, you will find it worth it once you try them.

I used Le Petit Mec in Kyoto Station. The shop opened at 8 am and there were a few people waiting for it. I bought a blueberry and cream cheese bagel for breakfast (325 yen) and had a bit of it later. The blueberries were really plentiful and the bagel dough was very light and not dry at all, making it extremely easy to eat. It was labeled as a popular item, and I totally agree.

I was planning to go to Kuro Mech-san, but I found out that there is a shop at the station, so I decided to take it out and bring it back to Tokyo! The shop was small, but they had more varieties than I expected. I chose the "Roast Beef Sandwich" on a baguette. Roast beef with wasabi sauce is a classic combination. The roast beef was thick and satisfying. The baguette was perfect. I also got the "Earl Grey Croissant Amande". It had a nice Earl Grey aroma and the almond filling was not too sweet. I also bought the "Danish Bread" unexpectedly. It was a bit firm, but when toasted, it had a crispy texture and the unsalted butter made it refreshing. I also received a cute postcard and found out that Petit Mech-san is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Congratulations! I still love Petit Mech-san. Next time, I will definitely go to Kuro Mech-san! Until then, I will visit Hibiya.

It's been a while since my last visit. I got some bread for takeout. In particular, the Vietnamese-style pork sandwich was delicious. The crunchy cucumber, lettuce, onion, with accents of shiso and mint leaves. The generous amount of pork paired perfectly with the sweet sauce and soft bread, creating a refreshing yet satisfying sandwich.

Located inside Kyoto Station, I used it when transferring trains. It was midday on a weekday, but the selection was still plentiful. I tried the Le Plantan for 500 yen including tax and the Milk France with rum raisins for 270 yen including tax. I tried the spring limited edition new product, the sandwich with prosciutto and rapeseed flowers. The potato bread was soft and the saltiness of the prosciutto, the crunchy texture of the rapeseed flowers, and the crispy texture of the walnuts were perfectly matched, creating a wonderful combination! The Milk France with rum raisins also had a nutty flavor due to the walnuts in the bread, a hint of rum aroma, making it a sophisticated dessert bread.

At Hibiya Shante in Tokyo, there is a popular bakery called Le Petit Mec that always has long lines. In Kyoto, which is known for its fierce competition among bakeries, you can even buy delicious bread right in the JR station. I bought four types of bread to enjoy on the Shinkansen: Blueberry Cheese, Vietnamese-style sandwich, Mentaiko (spicy cod roe) French bread, and Chestnut and Yuzu bread. The quality of these breads is amazing and the fact that you can buy them without waiting in line is incredible. Having a good bakery at a train station makes traveling even more enjoyable!

Located in a corner of the passage connecting the conventional lines at the crowded Kyoto Station, this is a quite small shop. To avoid obstructing traffic, there are markers on the floor to indicate where to stand in line. Since my bullet train was approaching, I quickly chose one item each from the side dishes and sweets categories. - Chicken and White Sauce Fuitage: ¥330 (tax included) There were chunks of chicken larger than expected. A bunch of broccoli served as a nice accent. The white sauce was delicious. - Milk French Bread with Rum Raisins: ¥270 (same) A mini baguette filled with rum raisin cream. The baguette was a bit tough to chew, but once you do, you can deeply taste the flavor of the wheat flour. The rum raisin cream was a perfect match, despite the modest amount. Due to the small size of the shop, the selection of items is quite limited. However, this may actually be convenient when you're short on time and don't want to spend too long deciding.

I visited the shop "Le Petit Mec/ル・プチメック JR Kyoto Station" located on the 2nd floor concourse inside JR Kyoto Station during lunchtime in mid-December for the first time. On this day, I purchased a "Lyonnaise" (265 yen). I enjoyed it at my accommodation right away. The bread was chewy with a good bounce to it. The filling had plenty of fried onions and bacon, creating a perfect combination of sweet oily onions and smoky bacon, seasoned with black pepper. It was a delicious Western-style sandwich. Thank you for the meal.

I purchased Chicken and White Sauce Feuillage (330 yen) on a weekday in November 2022. It contains chunks of chicken with a authentic flavor of rosemary. It was mentioned that it tastes better when slightly warmed up, and indeed, it was delicious when warmed. I also bought a Pain au Chocolat (240 yen) which had a delicious Danish pastry dough with a slightly bitter chocolate that added to its deliciousness.

Before boarding the Shinkansen, I secured some food at this bakery. I didn't have much time, so I didn't have the luxury of browsing leisurely, I just picked something that caught my eye and paid right away. It was a croque-monsieur. It's a very standard type of bread. The white sauce was delicious. Thank you for the meal! (^人^)

A bakery inside Kyoto Station. It's a small shop, but they have a variety of breads. This is a branch of Lupchimek, which has ranked high on the list of top 100 bakeries. I visited on a weekday evening. Chestnut and yuzu bread for 440 yen: "The refreshing scent of yuzu and the slightly sweet candied chestnuts make for an exquisite combination, a representative work of Lupchimek." The yuzu peel is prominent. The bread looks hard, but the dough is soft. Bagel (blueberry and cream cheese) for 325 yen: "Blueberry and cream cheese, a classic popular item with excellent compatibility." The chewy texture is great. It was really delicious. It's convenient to access, which is appreciated.

Small shop. Inside the station. Got off at Kyoto on the Shinkansen. Love Lupchimek! The main store is in Kyoto, so I had high expectations for the shop at Kyoto Station. It was delicious! Especially the almond croissant! Super delicious! Ate it while heading from Kyoto to Hakata on the Shinkansen. It was fun! Thank you for the meal! Couldn't find any limited edition items in the store, I wonder if they don't have those? The staff were quick and efficient, like they were in a hurry. Speed is important, it's like a kiosk after all. I'm satisfied with visiting the Petit Mec in Kyoto! Let's post this on the timeline too!

Located inside the west exit ticket gate of Kyoto Station. This time, I purchased two types of Pandemi (4 slices) for 349 yen and lightly toasted them. They were quite sweet and had a chewy texture even when toasted. I also tried the Cranberry and Hazelnut 1/2 for 367 yen. The tartness of the cranberry and the strong aroma of the nuts made it delicious. Personally, I really liked this one.

A bakery has appeared inside Kyoto Station's JR station building. It is located inside the west ticket gate, in the opposite direction of the waffles. I bought Croissant au Crème, Milk France, and Danish bread. The staff recommended toasting the Danish bread before eating, but it was still delicious as is. It's convenient to have this bakery at Kyoto Station.

I entered Kyoto after about a year and a half. I was surprised to see that Lupchimek had opened in Kyoto Station. I quickly had breakfast there. I had the "Homemade Masala Spice Curry" for 300 yen (including 8% tax). There were tables set up next to the shop, so I ate there. Sliced campanile bread with plenty of curry and vegetables on top. Delicious! It gives you energy!

This is a delicious bakery located inside Kyoto Station. Next to the shop, there is a small standing eating corner. I chose the salmon and cream cheese sandwich. The salmon was thick and juicy, and I was very satisfied with the sandwich.

My favorite bakery "Le Petit Mec" opened in Kyoto Station in March. It is located inside the station, just north of the west exit gate, making it very convenient. The exterior of the bakery is similar to the "Black Mec" and "Red Mec". They offer a variety of bread with simple and rustic dough being the main focus. They also have a selection of sandwiches. The potato bread (216 yen) has a crispy exterior and a soft interior with mashed potatoes mixed in, giving it a fluffy texture. The milk French bread (250 yen) is a classic item made with French bread dough and filled with sweet milk cream. The dough has a soft texture and the rich milk cream is delightful.

On July 2nd (Saturday) and 3rd (Sunday), I enjoyed a bread tour in the Kansai area using the JR Kansai One-Day Pass for summer. Let me introduce the visited shops in order of visit! Shop visited #4 "Le Petit Mec Kyoto Station Store" Le Petit Mec is a famous bakery originating from Kyoto. The store I visited this time was the Kyoto Station store inside the ticket gate at Kyoto Station. There were many beautifully displayed bread in the showcase. I purchased a Jalapeño and ginger focaccia, and a blueberry and cream cheese bagel. I had them for breakfast the next day and they were delicious. The ginger aroma in the focaccia was amazing, and the combination of blueberry and cream cheese in the bagel was perfect. The texture of the bagel was fluffy and enjoyable. It's unique to have a bakery inside the station, and it's definitely worth a visit during your transfer at Kyoto Station.

[Date] Visited on a weekday at 8:30 am, alone. [Reservation] Not required. Entered without waiting. [Location] Inside the west exit of Kyoto Station. The shop is located amidst the bustling morning rush. [Interior] Takeout only. Due to the high foot traffic, it's best to place your order quickly. [Order] Purchased the Milk France, which is the No. 1 popular item. The bread is crispy and fragrant. The cream has a unique flavor of rum, which I personally really liked. The balance between the bread and cream in the Milk France was well thought out. It was delicious! [Service] The staff were efficient and friendly. [Final thoughts] The cream with a hint of rum flavor is addictive! I highly recommend the Milk France!
