Visited on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, a little after 11 AM. There was one customer ahead of me, and I was pleased to see a variety of sandwiches lined up. This place is an old-fashioned sandwich shop, which I think is quite rare in Kyoto. I chose the egg sandwich for 350 yen and the yakisoba sandwich for 450 yen. It seems like the prices have gone up since the last time I visited, but I can't quite remember. When I got home, I enjoyed them with a beer, and the unique feature of these sandwiches is that they have crusts. The bread was delicious! It brought back nostalgic flavors.

During a walk, I stumbled upon a charming little shop that caught my interest. Even though I had a lunch course reservation, I couldn't resist trying just one thing. The rolled omelette was so soft and fluffy, with a gentle and comforting taste. The sandwich was delightful, with the bread being soft all the way to the crust. It was a joy to eat, especially with the addition of smoked salmon. And the nanohana, known as "flower vegetables" in Kyoto, gave a touch of spring. It had a slight bitterness that felt mature. I almost bought a fruit sandwich too, but I restrained myself. It's amazing that they have been in business for almost 50 years. The portions were generous, and I wish there was a place like this in my neighborhood. It's a sandwich that brings warmth and comfort, just like a cheerful mother. It's so soothing and delightful.

I visited the restaurant around 8 am on a regular day. There was a cute old lady running the place by herself. Since there weren't many items on display, I thought they might be sold out, but the lady said, "I make what you like." I was relieved to hear that! The Ham and Egg was ¥340 and the Chicken Cutlet was ¥440. I sat on a chair and chatted with the old lady while waiting. She said she also makes curry and omurice sometimes, although they weren't available that day. I hope the old lady stays healthy and keeps up the good work. As for the taste... the Ham and Egg had a comforting flavor, like something my mother used to make. I gave the Chicken Cutlet to someone else, who said the meat was crispy and very delicious. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely visit again!

I went shopping around 11 am on a regular day. It was a small shop with a counter where about 4 people could sit. Since it was close to lunchtime, there were many different types of sandwiches to choose from. One interesting thing was that they also sold fried rice for takeout. The tonkatsu, ham, and egg salad baguette sandwich had thick cheese, cucumber, and lettuce in it! The baguette was crispy on the outside and soft inside, starting with tonkatsu sauce, then cucumber, ham, cheese, egg salad with mayonnaise, and even bacon - very delicious and filling! The shiba-zuke (pickled eggplant) and dashimaki (Japanese omelette) sandwich had a thick, flavorful dashimaki and the shiba-zuke and lettuce added a unique taste. The fluffy bread was excellent with the dashimaki sandwich being my favorite! I also had croquette and shrimp cutlet sandwiches, all four costing around 1500 yen. These homemade sandwiches were all delicious and even the unique ones were tasty, making me want to come back for more. I thought the prices were a bit high, but considering the quality and quantity of ingredients, it was worth it. Thank you for the meal!

I'm on a ramen tour and staying at a hotel in Kyoto♪ I found this place that caught my interest when I checked the food blogs around. Fruit sandwiches and fried rice!? are popular here, so I went early in the day♫ - Fruit sandwich for 500 yen (I think!?) Inside the store, in addition to fruit sandwiches, there were many other types of sandwiches that all looked delicious!! I was planning to get the fried rice that I saw in other reviews and the fried chicken for takeout, but they were not available. Instead, they had dry curry. When I asked, "Is there no fried rice today?" the staff said, "That's right~ We usually alternate, but fried rice is more common so dry curry is rare~" and I couldn't decide, so I gave up (I just had ramen earlier lol). I couldn't take a picture of the delicious-looking bread inside the store because the lady was staring at me! lol Please check out the reviews from other people! They all looked delicious♡ Thank you for the meal!

This restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike Station on the Kyoto Subway Karasuma Line and Tozai Line. It seems to specialize in sandwiches, but they also offer rice dishes like omurice and curry rice. This time, I bought some dishes to take home for dinner. I was surprised at how delicious the rice dishes, especially the yakimeshi, were. Thank you for the meal.

The mother running the shop alone was very friendly and welcoming to me, a first-time customer. She had a comforting presence like a mother. She can make dishes quickly on the spot, so if you order something you want to eat, she will make it right away. It's a nice feeling. I want to support this shop. I hope she continues to take care of her health and keep the shop running for a long time.

Looking for Fleur Sand! I visited around 9:30 am on a weekday. It's just a few minutes walk from Karasuma Oike Station. The store is nestled between buildings and has a nostalgic charm. Inside, there is a small seating area for about 3 people. There were two mothers working inside the store. Near the register, there were various deli sandwiches. Fleur Sand was located in the refrigerator near the entrance. I purchased an Ebi Katsu Sand for lunch at 390 yen and a Fruit Sand for a snack at 500 yen. The Ebi Katsu Sand was very filling, one was enough to make me full. The Fruit Sand had lots of fruits and was delicious, but personally, I think it would be even better with a bit more whipped cream. As a fan of deli sandwiches, I would like to try other types of sandwiches as well.

After visiting the Kodomo Mirai Kan, I went to this shop to buy a sandwich. I usually buy the sandwich set, but when I visited after 11 o'clock, they were sold out. I asked the staff and they said, "I can make it right now!" They let me choose the ingredients for the sandwich, and since I had a baby with me, they kindly asked, "Would a rolled omelette be okay for the baby to eat?" I have visited a few times and no matter when I go, they always chat with me in a friendly manner. It's a very cozy and welcoming shop.

I stopped by this place and bought a sandwich and fried rice to take home. The sandwich was filled with minced meat, tonkatsu, eggs, and more, with strong flavors. The fried rice was also well seasoned. They also had sandwiches with fruits in them. Looking forward to coming back again!

I visited around 12:50 on a weekday. There were 12 fruit sandwiches left. I was worried they might be sold out since it was after the busy lunch hour, but luckily they still had some left. They also sold rice flour roll sandwiches and cup noodles. It was a traditional old-fashioned shop. The fruit sandwich for 450 yen was charming with slices of fruit arranged diagonally. The sweetness of the orange syrup and the natural sweetness of the banana were delicious. It was a simple fruit sandwich with everyday ingredients. Compared to convenience store fruit sandwiches, it felt a bit expensive. They included various fruits like strawberries, pineapples, oranges, kiwis, and bananas, so maybe the cost price is high.

In Kyoto, breakfast is always bread. This morning, I had a fruit sandwich for 430 yen at Tanaka in Karasuma-Oike. It's an old-fashioned sandwich shop where a lady makes them all by herself. It's filled with plenty of fruits, cream, and simple white bread. It feels nostalgic.

In front of Kyoto City Hall near Fresco. Buying fruit sandwiches here is a treat on incense shop's Sitter Day. Located in Karasuma Oike, the old-fashioned quaint store front is calming. The customer service from the grandmotherly staff is pleasant. Tables and chairs are provided, so you can eat in if you want. The fruit sandwiches are reasonably priced, not too sweet, and the old-fashioned style is a favorite. I think you can make a reservation. I have to revisit. I hope they continue to operate like this.

This day, I was planning to go to Kurama early in the morning, but I couldn't forget the bread from Fabulan that I went to the day before, so I decided to stop by and buy some before leaving! I went to Flip-Up, which I had bookmarked before, only to find out that they were temporarily closed! I was surprised! So, I searched on Tabelog and found Tanaka-san's place! It's a small local shop with counter seats available! There weren't many choices to choose from, and the fruit sandwich with several fruits sandwiched between was stored in the refrigerator. It was a bit pricey at around 400 yen for two pieces, but it was understandable given the variety of fruits. I asked the lady at the shop if they had a thick omelette sandwich, and she kindly said she could make one for me! I was so happy to encounter a thick omelette sandwich that I hadn't tried yet! It was made with a coppe pan-like bread instead of sandwich bread, and it was filled with lettuce, resulting in a gentle-tasting omelette! Although it seemed to be pre-made, they kindly accommodated my sudden request, making me feel happy in the morning! I could smell curry all the time, so I asked about it, and they said they were preparing curry for lunch! They serve spicy curry here! Since families with children usually eat mild curry, they thoughtfully prepared a spicy one for adults! Makes sense!

The shop recommended by the customer. I was surprised to find it in such a place... It had a nostalgic atmosphere like a candy store. Inside, there were various breads, or rather sandwiches. I was looking forward to the fruit sandwich, so I got that. It was heavy and felt like something you would make at home. It had lots of fruits! Although it was heavy in weight, it didn't feel heavy when eating, and I could easily take big bites. It was a fruit sandwich that made me feel nostalgic. Thank you for the meal!

After checking in, the first place I headed to was Tanaka's Sandwich. This shop, which I had been eyeing for a while, was quite difficult to visit due to its location in an area I rarely go to and its closure on weekends and holidays, making it a high hurdle for those who are not locals. They serve delicious sandwiches from around 6:30 in the morning, but I was worried that I might not be able to visit again, so I decided to go there first. When I walked a little north from Oike Street on Manicho Street, I saw a sign that said "Tanaka" lit up. The shop has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere. As soon as you enter, you will see a refrigerated showcase on the right with fruit sandwiches lined up - I found it! They were full of fruits and looked delicious. And the prices were very reasonable! I bought them to take back to the hotel and my husband and I each had one the next morning. The fruit sandwich (including tax 430 yen) had plenty of fresh fruits such as strawberries, kiwi, bananas, and pineapples, with just the right amount of cream and a moderate amount of bread. It had a chewy texture that went well with it and was delicious. Oh, I should have bought more... They had a variety of sandwiches, including ones made with hamburger buns, and there was also an eat-in corner where you could enjoy your meal inside the shop. When I visited, the smell of curry wafted through the air, and when I mentioned how good it smelled, they told me that you could also have curry rice inside the shop or for takeout. When I told my friend who lives in Kyoto about this the next day, she said that it is a popular shop with many people using it at their workplace. Despite the high hurdle in terms of location and operating days, I now want to try not only the fruit sandwich but also other sandwiches here. Ease of reservation - Likelihood of revisiting: ★★★★★ Thank you for the meal!

Sandwich shop. When you enter, a kind mother and daughter warmly welcome you, saying "Welcome, come on in!" The "Fruit Sandwich" for 430 yen (tax included) looked delicious with plenty of fruits, so I decided to enjoy it inside the shop. They even brought me a glass of water. The sandwich was filled with apples, strawberries, bananas, kiwi, and oranges... so many sweet fruits. It's a delicious dessert sandwich!

Near the subway Karasuma Oike Station, there is a sandwich shop that has been operating long before the opening of the Tozai Line, let alone the Karasuma Line. Even now, local residents and workers come to buy sandwiches. The bread here still has the crust on, but it is freshly baked and incredibly soft. The photo shows a "Fruit Sandwich" with strawberries, kiwi, banana, mandarin orange, and pineapple sandwiched with whipped cream. It looks beautiful and fun, and as soon as you open the bag, a wonderful aroma fills the air. The soft bread, sweet and sour fruits, and fluffy whipped cream melt in your mouth, creating an exquisite taste. Cutting this soft sandwich straight requires considerable skill. There are a few seats inside the shop where you can also enjoy your meal, including light meals like curry. On a scorching hot day, I purchased one and enjoyed it inside the shop.
