I am Director Fujisaki Shinichi of BODYPIT KYOTO. My grandmother was born in the Nishiichijo shopping street, which used to be bustling in the past. She and the people in the shopping street were like family. Whenever something happened, there would always be Umeseindo's traditional Japanese sweets at my grandmother's house. Today is my grandmother's memorial day, so I offered her these familiar traditional Japanese sweets. I'm sure she would be happy. Thank you very much.

The neighborhood traditional Japanese sweets shop, Umeseido, has been my go-to place for Japanese sweets since I was a child. My grandmother used to take me there often. In the past, there used to be a proper shopping street, so there was a sense of community. Now it has turned into a residential area. It brings me joy to reminisce about the past. I enjoyed the three-colored dumplings and cherry blossom rice cakes.

These are the Japanese sweets that I have been enjoying since I was a child, and they are the ones that suit my taste the best. I remember my grandmother often buying Japanese sweets from Umeseindo. I had the pleasure of enjoying Goshiki Tsubaki, warabi mochi, and soba manju at a delicious traditional Japanese sweets shop I've been visiting since I was a child! Even though it's getting cooler now, I still enjoyed the slippery warabi mochi! The soba manju was absolutely delicious!

Today was my uncle's memorial service. I offered his favorite juyo manju as an offering. I have loved juyo manju since I was a child, often going to buy it with my grandmother. When it comes to Japanese sweets, juyo manju is my favorite. It's also a local shop, so whenever I crave it, I go to buy some!

I went to request some mochi for New Year's! Chestnut mochi? Chestnut manju? Anyway, mochi with chestnut is the best! Japanese sweets are the heart of the Japanese people! The traditional sweets we have been eating since we were born really suit our bodies! Just a few more nights until New Year's! Looking forward to it again this year!

This is a nearby shop to our clinic. I have been eating these traditional Japanese sweets since I was born. When I eat the Mikasa (dorayaki), it reminds me of my grandmother who used to buy it for me often. The Kaminyo manju is also nostalgic. I am happy that I can go buy them frequently next year when I open my practice. I feel reassured eating something I have been enjoying since childhood.

Meisen-do is a small traditional Japanese confectionery shop located a short distance west of Kitano Hakubaicho along Ichijo Street. While strolling through the town, I was looking for a suitable sweet to enjoy and decided to try their sakura mochi daifuku. The mochi was subtly colored with cherry blossom leaves and had a nice texture. I debated whether it was better to let the mochi and sweet red bean paste blend together when eating, or to savor each flavor separately. We even discussed how the concept of daifuku might differ between Kanto and Tokyo, which was quite interesting. The differences between nerikiri and tsubuan were also enlightening.
