Before noon on a regular day. It seems that reservations are required at night, but you can enter without a reservation during the day. The counter was full, so I was guided to a table in the back. In the back, there were tatami mat seating areas with two groups dining. The lunch menu consisted of just one type of mini course, and as soon as I sat down, the meal was served without me having to say anything. Each dish, such as simmered dishes, grilled dishes, and fried dishes, was carefully prepared and felt like a very high-class set meal. The elegant seasoning made each dish very delicious. There was a tempura dish that looked like fried chicken, but it was incredibly tender. I tried sesame tofu tempura for the first time. The prices were very reasonable, the atmosphere and service were good, so I definitely want to come back again.

I had been wishing to visit Matsukatsu-san for a while, and I reserved the 4000 yen course for dinner, as I couldn't tell the difference between the three courses offered. When I saw the appetizer, I realized I wanted to pair it with sake, but the selection was limited, so I opted for white wine instead. The dishes were served meticulously, allowing me to savor each bite. As the evening approached, the courtyard was illuminated, elevating the atmosphere. The sashimi and chawanmushi were both generously portioned and offered great value for money, leaving both my heart and stomach completely satisfied.

There is a restaurant located a few minutes' walk from Gojo Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway, facing Manjuji Street. Originally a catering shop, it quickly became a popular spot by serving course meals that make good use of their broth. Recently, it has gained even more popularity and has been featured on TV. I visited for lunch, which is a set course meal consisting of 8 dishes for 1300 yen. The contents were as follows:
[Appetizer] Soft boiled yuba. It has a creamy texture like fresh yuba and is delicious.
[Vinegared dish] Mainly rolled crab meat with shredded egg, lightly seasoned with vinegar. The crab meat was flavorful and delicious.
[Grilled dish] Grilled Spanish mackerel with egg roll. The mackerel was fatty and delicious, marinated to perfection. The egg roll had an elegant Kyoto-style seasoning.
[Simmered dish] Colorful and flavorful simmered vegetables.
[Deep-fried dish] Sesame tofu, eggplant, and green pepper tempura. The sesame tofu tempura was a pleasant surprise, with a crispy coating and a soft tofu texture inside. The flavors were amazing.
In addition to the dishes, the meal came with pickles, rice, and red miso soup. The red miso soup was authentic and the overall quality and quantity of the lunch set were exceptional for the price. I would definitely like to visit again when I'm in the area.

I visited Matsukume for lunch. The best thing about it is the cost performance. I couldn't help but have seconds of rice with plenty of side dishes. I ended up overeating. The taste of the dishes is generally mild, which I like. I could feel the Kyoto vibe with dishes like yudofu and miso-grilled fish. It's a bit away from the bustling area, but definitely worth a visit! Thank you for the meal!

The lunch from the caterer was delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed Japanese cuisine. It's best to make a reservation even on weekdays. It's unfortunate that the prices have increased by ¥200. Afterward, I went to see the "early blooming cherry blossoms" at the former Kyoto City Ritsuto Middle School, but they had already started to fall.

Visited during lunchtime (around 11:45). Managed to get the last two seats. Soon after, the restaurant quickly filled up. It's recommended to make a reservation. The food was beautifully presented as always, and the taste was delicious. No complaints. The grilled fish, which was disappointing last time (dry and tough), was moist and tender today (it was grilled yellowtail). I noticed someone getting a second helping of rice... Is it free refills? Thank you for the meal!

I made a reservation and visited at noon. The place was full right at 12 o'clock. There was only one option on the menu, a mini course for 1,300 yen. The quality was surprisingly high for the price, with a wide variety of dishes that left me very satisfied. Particularly, the simmered dish had a subtly sweet and elegant taste. The pickled dish had a pleasant acidity. It's a bit far from my office, but this place is now my regular lunch spot!! Thank you for the delicious meal ♫

I arrived 10 minutes before the lunch opening, and it seems like I was the first one there. Even though it's a famous restaurant and I didn't make a reservation, they kindly let me in before hanging the curtain. While I was having tea, the place quickly filled up with many reserved guests and a few walk-ins. I think reservations are a must for weekends, holidays, and festivals. I apologize for the rough title pun, but the food was really delicious. The simmered dishes, grilled dishes, fried dishes, soup, and rice all showcased the delicate work unique to Kyoto. It was a true pleasure to enjoy THE Kyoto cuisine. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located a 4-minute walk from Gojo Station on the Kyoto City Subway, this restaurant exudes a Kyoto-like elegance with its traditional facade and charming noren curtains. Inside, the layout is typically Kyoto with a counter seating area, table seating area, and tatami room overlooking a garden. I made a reservation for the weekend and opted for the Mini Kaiseki lunch set priced at 1100 yen including tax. The set menu includes a variety of dishes such as raw yuba sashimi, vinegar-marinated sea grapes, simmered yuba, grilled saury with miso, sesame tofu with fried rice crackers and fig tempura, pickles, red miso soup, and rice. The set offers a taste of Kyoto cuisine at an affordable price, making it perfect for those wanting to experience Kyoto's culinary charm. The quality and variety of the dishes were impressive, and the rice was especially delicious. I was thoroughly satisfied and happy to have discovered this wonderful restaurant.

I visited after hearing that they offer a cost-effective lunch. I made a reservation to coincide with the 11:30 opening. I had the mini kaiseki lunch (1,100 yen including tax) in a tatami room overlooking the courtyard. I don't think you can find this many dishes for this price even in department store bento boxes! The Nishikyo-yaki was a bit heavily seasoned, making me crave sake, but the rest was gently flavored. For some reason, the miso soup was the familiar red miso from Nagoya. More casual dining options are increasing! Thank you for the meal.

I visited around 13:15 on a weekday. It was pouring rain, and the chef kindly offered to drive three consecutive groups of customers to the station. Amazing!
- Lunch set for 1100 yen
- Fig tempura: Delicious figs meeting the goodness of deep-fried food! This was really delicious.
- Sesame tofu tempura: Fluffy with a sesame oil aroma. This was also delicious.
- Grilled fish: Fresh and fluffy.
- Other dishes included sea grapes, shishito pepper tempura, simmered dish, fresh tofu skin, rolled omelette, pickles, and matcha warabi mochi.

It's been a while since my last visit. Lunch was a set menu! It included vinegared dish, fried dish, simmered dish, grilled fish, small side dishes, and pickles. The vinegared dish had crab meat wrapped in it with sea grapes on the side. There was also miso-grilled fish and rolled omelette. Additionally, there was fresh wheat gluten and eggplant tempura. For soup, there was red miso soup with fish noodles. The restaurant had a counter area in the front, tables in the middle, and a raised tatami seating area in the back. I caught a glimpse of the courtyard. The background music was jazz. The lunch was satisfying as always. Thank you for the meal.

Sunday 11:55 To Matsukasu-san, I visited after making a reservation the day before. The reservation time was 12:00, but I was seated right away. I had been wanting to come here for a long time, so I was happy. There were three groups of customers at the counter seats, all consisting of two women each. I slid into a seat there. I was immediately given cold tea and a wet towel. I could see table seats and tatami rooms in the back. Inside the counter, two female staff members were busy moving around. A man who came in later sat next to me. However, multiple people who came afterwards were told, "Today the tatami room is reserved..." and were turned away. At 12:03, I was handed a lunch tray and greeted with "Excuse me for taking this from the front." The lunch (8 items) was 1,100 yen. The rice and miso soup came with lids on them. There were 8 carefully prepared side dishes. At first glance, it may seem plain, but if you look closely, there's yuba, sea grapes, dashimaki, fig tempura. There were ingredients that don't usually appear on the dining table, which made my heart dance. Being able to eat a variety of dishes little by little was so delightful, and I was completely healed by the meticulous meal. The miso soup had a strong flavor, but the rest was a gentle Kyoto style. Especially, the seemingly ordinary pickles with yuzu flavor (meticulously made to perfection...) captured my heart. Everything was delicious and comforting. If a friend from out of town visits Kyoto, this is a place I would definitely want to take them to. I'm glad I came. Thank you for the meal.

I was thinking about what to have for lunch, but since I was in Kyoto, I wanted to eat something Kyoto-like for lunch. I visited Matsukume on Manjuji Street, based on the recommendations of senior reviewers on Tabelog, and had the lunch mini-kaiseki (1,000 yen excluding tax). The restaurant was full of customers, so I was seated at the counter. I couldn't wait to see the dishes being prepared. The food and taste were both excellent! I am so glad I came here today and grateful for the encounter with Matsukume. I will definitely come back for dinner as well.

I visited on a Saturday afternoon. I always have the 1000 yen mini course here. The menu changes slightly depending on the season, but it's generally the same. I come here about once every few months. There are both tatami and table seats, and the atmosphere is nice, so I like it. I am satisfied with this meal for 1000 yen. When I visited this time, there were singing cicadas, which added to the ambiance. There is no parking lot, so if you are coming by car, I recommend using the nearby coin parking.

Lovely shop! The cost performance is so good that it makes me worry..! It was lucky that it was empty due to the influence of Corona☆ I want to go again when I want to be healed by Japanese food (*´▽`*)

I found out about this restaurant through the YouTuber Kotatsu Han's video and had always wanted to visit. This time, I stayed at a hotel in Gojo Karasuma, so it was close by! The reservation process was very accommodating, and I was moved by their attentive service. I visited with my 90-year-old mother, and we were seated in a room with a view of the inner garden. Shortly after, a variety of small dishes were brought to us on trays. There were over 15 different ingredients, and the rice was soft and chewy, with a mild seasoning. I could tell that each dish was made with care. To receive such a warm and delicious meal for only ¥1100 was truly impressive. I will definitely be coming back for more!

I was able to sit down because I had a reservation, but it was crowded. So, it took a little time for the food to be served, but everything was delicious. For only 1,000 yen, it's amazing. It was a shame that the tempura was cold. But, it's a restaurant I want to visit again.

This is a place where you can easily enjoy a Japanese lunch at the counter. If I feel like having Nishikyo-yaki again, I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.
