One of the best yakiniku restaurants in southern Kyoto is Kikuya in front of Uji Okubo Station. The meat is amazing, but the sauce is also irresistible, homemade with a strong bonito flavor that pairs perfectly with the top-quality meat and offal selected by the master. I couldn't stop drinking the awamori I kept at my table, and ended up getting quite drunk. I've been to many yakiniku restaurants, but this one is among the best. There are even photos of the famous yakiniku lover jockey Tomokazu Kitamura on the wall, so you know it's a great place. Thank you for the delicious meal!

The total bill was 3,240 yen for tongue (900 yen), hormone (800 yen), draft beer (350 yen), and two shochu highballs (450 yen each). It was a Showa-era yakiniku restaurant. The interior was surprisingly spacious and clean. The portion sizes were quite large, so I was full after just two dishes. The tongue was decently tasty. However, the hormone was not flavorful at all. I sat at the counter alone, but the owner kept interfering with cooking the meat, which made it hard to relax and enjoy my meal. I'm not sure if I would visit again. Overall, it was somewhat satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

The best yakiniku restaurant in Kyoto's southern area, personally my number one choice, is Kikuya near Uji Okubo Station. I ordered Harami, Misuji, Tsurami, Jyomimi, and Liver yakiniku, and the meat was cut from a block taken out of the refrigerator, with top quality and homemade sauce that had a light bonito flavor, absolutely delicious. It had been a while since I last visited, but they have maintained their excellent quality despite the pandemic, and I left the restaurant completely satisfied. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I found a great restaurant in my neighborhood, Kikuya, located in front of Kintetsu Okubo Station in Uji. I heard it was delicious, so I visited for the first time. I usually order tongue, skirt steak, and hanger steak at a yakiniku restaurant, but this time they had excellent tongue and skirt steak available. The 70-year-old chef carefully cut the meat from the block right in front of me and cooked it for me. The taste was amazing, as you can see in the photos. I am confident that I have found another great restaurant in my neighborhood. The skilled chef served me the best meat, which can also be enjoyed raw, with rice shochu. The historic interior of the restaurant was also impressive. It seems like they can't serve hot pot anymore due to their age, but the fried rice here was also excellent, as recommended by a regular customer sitting next to me. It's a hidden gem that you can find if you look for it. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

I went after a long time and the master is currently hospitalized, so I'm a little worried. I had a beer, fresh draft beer, and some tsurami to enjoy. The taste is still delicious as always.

Long time no see. It's me. I'm very sorry for the long absence. I'm back!!!! Seiichi Okubo, the holy land!!!! The other day, Mr. W treated me to yakiniku. The specialty of the restaurant is definitely the yakiniku, but the sauce is exceptionally delicious!!!! Of course, the meat is delicious too, but the sauce is delicious!!!! Apparently, the fried rice made with that sauce is even more delicious. Let's try it next time. The atmosphere outside the restaurant is... it feels like only regular customers are allowed, but I want even first-time visitors to go. Can you believe that bottled beer is only 360 yen!!!!!! You take it out of the fridge yourself and put it on the table, it's truly a Jarijari world. Please visit when you are nearby.

A while ago, I used to live in this area and would drink beer every night while snacking on meat. However, it has been a few years since I started living in Kyoto city, and I can't forget the taste of the sauce and meat here. I often take the train to come here after work or on my days off. The restaurant has a nostalgic Showa-era atmosphere, with a quiet bearded old man and a woman who seems to have danced on a stage in the past warmly welcoming customers. Any choice of meat here is excellent, and the raw liver and grilled liver have a satisfying thickness. The hormone meat is sweet and delicious when chewed. I highly recommend the side menu item, the "yakimeshi" here is outstanding. Once you try it, you'll definitely get addicted. When it gets cold, the "solo motsu nabe" also sounds good. The takeout menu includes a simple bento box with rice topped with marinated meat, which was very popular among the snack girls.

This is a review of Yakiniku Kikuya in front of Okubo Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line. On this day, unfortunately, there was a shortage of items, but they also have kimchi, although the quality seems to be poor this year due to the lack of rain. Despite this, I felt their commitment to offering what is on the menu regardless of conditions, which is not common among many other restaurants. They do not have smokeless roasters, providing authentic yakiniku. I ordered raw items (raw liver and raw tripe), which were delicious. The cabbage appetizer can be enjoyed raw or grilled. The sauce for mixing is quite tasty! The way they cut the beef tripe was surprising and the sauce made it a new discovery! However, there seems to be a lot of onions. I think there are few places that serve as many onions as this one. This is a fun place where you can enjoy drinking and nibbling on yakiniku, rather than eating a lot.
