During the day, it's a curry restaurant, and at night, it's also a place where you can enjoy spicy dishes with drinks. They have a good variety of non-alcoholic options, so it's great for those who don't drink. In the evening, they have a one-drink minimum policy. It was summer vegetable season when I went, so the curry had lots of vegetables, with a cool eggplant and pickled plum curry that looked really appealing.

Curry Bar Hatchagi is located near the Showa Terminal bus stop, about a 30-minute bus ride from Hakodate Station. As the name suggests, curry and spicy dishes are the main focus of the menu, with some izakaya options available for dinner as well. We started with a platter of three appetizers: Oyster Achar, Potato Salad, and Sand Liver Confit. The Oyster Achar was flavorful and slightly spicy, with the oysters packed with umami. The Potato Salad had a nice texture, still retaining some potato chunks and a bit of spiciness. The Sand Liver Confit with crunchy new onions was a great combination of textures and flavors. For drinks, we tried the Rum Chai, a mix of rum and chai tea, which was a unique and tasty choice. We then had the Anglerfish Tikka, marinated in spices and cooked in a tandoor oven. The fish was tender and the spices were mild, making it a perfect snack to enjoy with drinks. We also had the Baby Scallop Masala with Naan, a curry dish made without sauce, featuring plenty of scallops and onions seasoned with spices. The scallops were delicious, and the naan, ordered in a half portion, was a great accompaniment. The owner previously worked at Hendricks Curry Bar in Tokyo before opening this place in Hakodate. It was a great experience to enjoy curry and spice dishes made with Hokkaido ingredients.

There is a curry restaurant that opened where Mr. Tajima used to be. A young person who used to work at Hendrix Curry Bar in Tokyo returned to Hakodate and opened it. They serve spicy dishes and natural wine at night. I didn't have many chances to go, so I went for lunch. The lunch menu has four types of curry. I ordered the limited 3-curry plate. It included Shiretoko chicken curry, bean curry, and black sesame Keema curry. They were served on a flat plate. The flavors were well-balanced with just the right amount of spiciness. I didn't like the lassi. I want to try going at night next time.

Having lunch at Hatchagi today. The owner of this place trained at a curry restaurant in Tokyo before opening this shop. The interior is stylish, maybe this place used to be an izakaya. It really brings a taste of Tokyo to Hakodate. I'm looking forward to what's to come. The curry plate with 3 types of curry looks very Instagram-worthy. But it's limited to 10 servings, so it's first come, first served. I ordered the Shiretoko chicken curry. It's packed with spices and the chicken is tender and delicious. The saffron rice with colorful pickles is a nice touch. However, the 3 types of curry plate is so impressive... I wonder if ordering a plate with all the curry options would catch the attention of sensitive girls?... Sorry for the unnecessary comment. Thank you for the meal.

I visited currybar in Mihara for the first time for takeout in February. I wanted to order items from the bar menu as well, but when I called, I was told they only do takeout for curry. I ordered chicken curry and pork vindaloo with saffron rice. The portion for takeout felt a bit small, although it was delicious. I saw on Instagram that some people were able to order items from the bar menu for takeout, so it may depend on who you speak to.
