I went to a townhouse Italian restaurant called "Il Pozzo" located about a 5-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station. The restaurant has a beautiful inner garden at the back, which creates a very pleasant atmosphere. They have counter seats, table seats, and traditional sunken kotatsu-style seating. For lunch, they offer two options:
- Pranzo A for 900 yen: Salad, focaccia, choice of one of three daily pasta dishes
- Pranzo B for 1500 yen: 9 assorted appetizers, focaccia, choice of one of three daily pasta dishes, dessert platter, coffee or tea
I opted for Pranzo B, and the appetizer platter was amazing! It included tripe, daikon mousse, carpaccio, cream cheese with nanohana, Iberico salami, sweet shrimp with sea urchin sauce, grissini and prosciutto, bamboo shoots and yellowtail, and Tanba Jidori chicken ham. The freshly baked focaccia was served steaming hot, which was exciting.
For pasta, I chose the shrimp and spring cabbage in cream sauce. The sauce was light, and the shrimp was tender and the cabbage had a subtle sweetness. My friend had the spaghetti with sea bream and kujo negi, which looked delicious as well.
The dessert platter was also fantastic with apple and red wine cake, tiramisu, mango semifreddo, and chocolate cake. The mango semifreddo was a standout for me!
Overall, it was a very satisfying lunch experience at this townhouse Italian restaurant that caters to both solo diners and large groups. I am curious about their evening menu and would love to visit again.
